NFL | Dorial Green-Beckham unclaimed    Wed Jul 5, 05:18 PM

Free-agent WR Dorial Green-Beckham (Eagles) cleared waivers and is now an unrestricted free agent, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Green-Beckham has the skill but has not been able to put the rest of it together. Even if someone gives him another chance, he probably won't walk into a situation where he is able to contribute right away. Now that he has busted out in OTAs with what is being reported as a lazy and near-effortless performance. We think it's safe to write him off as a bust.

Eagles | Philly believes in Mack Hollins    Fri Jun 30, 11:30 PM

The Philadelphia Eagles cut WR Dorial Green-Beckham in part because of their confidence in WR Mack Hollins.

Footballguys view: A fourth-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft, Hollins teamed with Ryan Switzer to give the North Carolina Tarheels (and their quarterback Mitchell Trubisky) a nice 1-2 punch. At 6'4" 221 pounds, Hollins can get down the field and track deep passes. For a big man, Hollins can get off the line in a hurry and doesn't need a lot of space to get up to top speed. He may never be more than a deep threat, but Hollins is a playmaker on long bombs. Plus, he's a sound special teams player.

Eagles | Philly high on Marcus Johnson    Fri Jun 30, 10:50 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Marcus Johnson's strong offseason is one of the reasons WR Dorial Green-Beckham was released.

Footballguys view: Undrafted out of Texas in 2016, Johnson wasn't an impact player in college and finished his career for the Longhorns with 61 catches for 793 yards and four touchdowns. He is a solid contributor on special teams, plus Johnson is an outstanding athlete as evidenced by his performance at the Longhorns pro day (4.37 40-yard dash, 11'4" broad jump, 22 bench press reps). We'll be monitoring his progress in super deep dynasty leagues.

Eagles | Dorial Green-Beckham cut    Fri Jun 30, 11:12 AM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Dorial Green-Beckham was waived Friday, June 30.

Footballguys view: Green-Beckham has now been on two teams in two seasons (basically). A second-round pick of the Titans in 2015, Green-Beckham has a great size/athleticism combination at 6'5" 237 pounds. He's never put it together at the pro level. Green-Beckham had the 7th-highest drop rate (6.9 percent) of any wide receiver in 2016. Couple concentration problems with work ethic problems and you can see why the Eagles moved on from Green-Beckham after a year just like the Titans did. He should be able to latch on with another team around the start of training camp.

Eagles | Dorial Green-Beckham hoping for a chance    Sun Jun 4, 09:44 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Dorial Green-Beckham has been taking a majority of his snaps with the second-team during OTAs, and he said he knows he is fighting for a spot on the roster but believes the Eagles still haven't seen the best he has to offer.

Eagles | Dorial Green-Beckham likely on bubble    Sat May 20, 01:44 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Dorial Green-Beckham likely will be on the roster bubble during training camp unless he gets a sudden grasp of the offense, in the opinion of NJ.com's Matt Lombardo.

Footballguys view: Potential is a dirty, filthy word and Green-Beckham has always been a player with a ton of it...but he's never really played up to that potential. With the additions to the passing game like WRs Torrey Smith and Alshon Jeffery, we don't consider him a lock to make the final roster even though he's physically gifted.

Eagles | Dorial Green-Beckham seeing more action    Mon Oct 17, 12:43 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Dorial Green-Beckham participated in 42-of-52 snaps in a Week 6 loss against the Washington Redskins.

Footballguys view: He's seeing more action in terms of snaps, but Green-Beckham is only getting four targets per game. He's been targeted the same amount each of the last four games, and in the game against Washington on Sunday Green-Beckham hauled in only one pass for 23 yards.

Eagles | Bigger role ahead for DGB?    Sat Sep 24, 02:34 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Dorial Green-Beckham is a candidate to see his role expanded, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Footballguys view: Dynasty owners should be watching the big target. Green-Beckham has always had the physical potential to be a top-15 WR in the game. He's far from producing at that level, but his natural talent should have all fantasy owners intrigued.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Dorial Green-Beckham saw his first game action with the team in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 27, against the Indianapolis Colts. He had two receptions for 15 yards and a touchdown before departing.

Footballguys view: Green-Beckham is a big-bodied receiver who could work well as a red-zone target for the Eagles. Like Chancellor Palpatine watched little Ani, we'll continue to watch Green-Beckham's development with great interest.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Dorial Green-Beckham will receive snaps with the first-team offense during the preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts Saturday, Aug. 27, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Footballguys view: Talent has never been a question with Green-Beckham. If properly used and motivated, Green-Beckham could develop into one of the best WRs in the game. We're not counting on that, but we will be watching to see how he transitions with his new team.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Dorial Green-Beckham had no catches on two targets in a 17-0 preseason win over the Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday, Aug. 18.

Footballguys view: In his first game with his new team, Green-Beckham didn't do anything. We'll see how he continues to fit in with the Eagles. Don't expect him to be a fantasy relevant player right off the bat. He's a lottery ticket pick late in the draft in only the deepest leagues.

  Eagles | Dorial Green-Beckham won't play Thursday    Tue Aug 16, 10:09 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Dorial Green-Beckham will not play in the preseason game Thursday, Aug. 18, against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to head coach Doug Pederson. However, he will go on the trip and be involved with the team, doing some work before traveling.

Footballguys view: Green-Beckham is only worth a very late pick now because he will be eased into the offense, but he also has little competition to move up the depth chart at outside receiver. Hopefully he gets off on the right foot in his new organization.

Eagles | Dorial Green-Beckham sent to Eagles    Tue Aug 16, 10:15 AM

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham was acquired by the Philadelphia Eagles Tuesday, Aug. 16, in exchange for Eagles OG Dennis Kelly.

Footballguys view: The Titans traded him for pocket lint - a backup offensive lineman - so they were just ready to move on from a player that they felt was not buying into the program. He can move up the Eagles depth chart quickly because they were clearly not happy with their outside receivers. Green-Beckham is still just a speculative late round pick, and rookie Tajae Sharpe is that much closer to starting Week 1 vs. Minnesota.

Titans | DGB, Hunter unimpressive in opener    Sun Aug 14, 07:38 PM

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham and WR Justin Hunter were slapped with an 'inconsistent' tag when head coach Mike Mularkey was asked about their performance in the preseason opener.

Footballguys view: Green-Beckham's problems aren't just motivation fodder. He doesn't have a core role in the passing game and is only worth drafting in leagues with long benches or long play bonuses right now. Fifth-round pick Tajae Sharpe's spot in the starting lineup is getting more and more firm every day.

Titans | Two Titans receivers inconsistent    Thu Aug 4, 05:35 PM

Tennessee Titans WRs Dorial Green-Beckham and Justin Hunter have been inconsistent so far in training camp, according to head coach Mike Mularkey. He wants to see them make more plays.

Footballguys view: Which is one of the reasons they have vets like Harry Douglas, Rishard Matthews and Andre Johnson all of whom, if nothing else, are pretty consistent. Hunter is likely on one of his last chances, but Green-Beckham is only in his second year. Both need to step it up if they are to last, much less have an impact. We don't expect any fantasy impact from them this year, though.

Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham not in best shape    Thu Jul 21, 06:16 PM

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham needs to be in better shape when training camp commences, even after losing some weight last season.

Footballguys view: On top of needing to get his timing and routes together, which certainly was as big a factor as conditioning in his underwhelming performance last year. Add in the continuing slow growth of the Titans offense and we see him as a WR5 this year. The natural talent is there for him to be much more, but it may not yet be in the cards.

Titans | Dorial Gree-Beckham has been studying    Wed Jun 29, 03:12 PM

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham said he's been studying his playbook a lot this offseason and furthering his knowledge on what his assignments are. Head coach Mike Mularkey said Green-Beckham has improved this offseason, but he wants to see more in order for the young receiver to reach his full potential.

Footballguys view: Green-Beckham is far from a finished product, and it's good to hear that he's doing everything he can to improve. From a physical standpoint, Green-Beckham is big, fast and can win at the point of the catch. From a technical point of view, the second-year pro needs to refine his routes and learn how to set up defenders better. The Titans are going to have a run-heavy offense, so the passing game numbers will be limited. Green-Beckham has a current ADP of WR40 (9.01) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham optimistic    Fri Jun 24, 04:20 PM

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham said he is happy with how he performed during offseason workouts and expects to be more productive in 2016 because he is more comfortable.

Footballguys view: Green-Beckham is currently looking up at fifth-round rookie Tajae Sharpe on the depth chart, but with a good camp and preseason, he should overtake him and start outside opposite Rishard Matthews. The Titans are going to have a low volume pass offense that spreads the ball around, so Green-Beckham's sleeper status is based mostly on his talent and potential, not his situation or role.

  Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham still a project    Thu Jun 16, 01:47 PM

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham remains somewhat of a project at the NFL level after he was thrown out of Missouri in college and went to Oklahoma but didn't play in 2014. Wide receivers coach Bob Bratkowski thinks the time off hurt Green-Beckham's game and caused him to develop at a slower pace. Green-Beckham was picked by the former Titans regime under general manager Ruston Webster, and new general manager Jon Robinson has said before that he's not particularly interested in projects. For now, Bratkowski said things are trending in the right direction for Green-Beckham.

Footballguys view: Reports have rookie Tajae Sharpe playing ahead of Green-Beckham right now, so it will be an interesting battle between he and Sharpe. Right now we feel Green-Beckham will win out, and should end up as a decent WR5 to start, but right now it seems like it's anyone's game. It's also possible both Sharpe and Green-Beckham could vault the underwhelming Harry Douglas, Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter.

Titans | Tajae Sharpe passes Green-Beckham    Wed Jun 15, 02:39 AM

Tennessee Titans WR Tajae Sharpe has passed WR Dorial Green-Beckham and WR Justin Hunter on the depth chart as Sharpe worked with the first-team in practice Tuesday, June 14.

Footballguys view: Sharpe has been--dare we say it?--SHARP so far. There's a lot of football to go before the roster is set and this could be a way to fire up Green-Beckham, but if he jumps the second-year receiver, Sharpe could end up a solid WR4 with upside.

Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham still has to improve    Wed Jun 1, 04:44 PM

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham needs to play faster and not think as much, according to head coach Mike Mularkey.

Footballguys view: Green-Beckham was away from football for a year before getting drafted in the second round last year, so this isn't a shock. His natural size/athleticism combination can be dominant if he is just adequate playing at speed, so there's a lot of upside if the game slows down for him. Green-Beckham is a good bet to start outside with Rishard Matthews. Kendall Wright is slated to line up in the slot. Tight end Delanie Walker may lead the team in targets, so Green-Beckham will likely be a boom/bust play week-to-week on a team looking to play "exotic smashmouth" football.

Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham must earn job    Tue May 31, 01:50 PM

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham must earn a starting role in 2016, according to head coach Mike Mularkey. 'How effective is he out here, first? And then we get into these preseason games, see how much we can load him up. We also know we've got some other options too that will be competing with him. So it's not a for sure he's lining up at 'X' for us on opening Sunday. They've got to earn it.' Last week was Green-Beckham's first 'full go' week while dealing with a hamstring problem that has been a problem for years.

Footballguys view: We get this mindset from the veteran coach. Any young player has to "earn it" and they're better off if they do. The upside is through the roof with Green-Beckham. If he continues to develop and establishes good chemistry with QB Marcus Mariota then the second-year WR can eventually be one of the best at his position. That won't happen this year, but Green-Beckham could at least be a WR3/WR4 with upside for fantasy owners in 2016. His current ADP is WR40 (9.01) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham lauded by Mariota    Wed May 25, 07:30 PM

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham impressed QB Marcus Mariota at organized team activities Tuesday, May 25. Mariota called Green-Beckham a stud and said he's gifted physically. 'Hopefully we can find ways to get him the football and let him do this thing,' Mariota said. Head coach Mike Mularkey said a bigger role for Green-Beckham hinges on his grasp of the playbook after the second-year receiver struggled with route-running last year. 'I think he knows that's a point of emphasis for him,' Mularkey said. 'He'll have a lot to say on whether he's that guy or not.'

Footballguys view: Green-Beckham's issues were mostly off the field, so we're not surprised he's looking good on it. We think he's still a year or so away from having a big fantasy impact, but watch his progress this season as an indicator as to when he will finally reach his potential.

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham said he views himself as a No. 1 receiver. He also said he has been talking to QB Marcus Mariota and plans to do some informal work with Mariota before the official offseason programs begin April 18.

Footballguys view: He certainly has the potential to be a WR1 in the league...and for fantasy owners. Green-Beckham has a tremendous size/speed combination, and he can be dominant at the point of the catch. We'll see what kind of chemistry Mariota and his young receiver can build this offseason, and this is certainly a situation to watch.

Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham went without a catch for the first time in six weeks in Week 16, and he and QB Zach Mettenberger looked to be out of sync. Mettenberger targeted Green-Beckham on just three of his 51 pass attempts.

Footballguys view: Mettenberger should up that number of targets for the talented rookie. Green-Beckham is a huge target with a large wingspan and the ability to make plays above the rim. We're excited by his dynasty prospects, but we aren't recommending the rookie WR as a starter in Week 17.

Footballguys view: The talent was always there with Green-Beckham, and he finally showed off what he can do. Perhaps this performance will light his fuse, and the talented rookie will start having more games like this. However, fantasy owners need to realize it was against a hapless Jaguars defense. We love Green-Beckham's obvious natural talent and upside, but he needs to start performing like this against tougher teams.
