NFL | Earnest Graham could retire    Fri Jun 22, 11:50 AM

Free-agent RB Earnest Graham (Buccaneers) said he is prepared to move on from football if teams don't pursue him this offseason. 'Right now, honestly, I'm going to focus on being a free agent, but I definitely understand that it is likely that I may have already played my last game,'

Footballguys view: Graham was one of the most versatile players at the RB position in recent years. His team first mentality helped him play a lot longer than some expected.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed RB Earnest Graham (Achilles') on the Injured Reserve Tuesday, Oct. 25, and also waived C Christian Yount.

Buccaneers | Earnest Graham out for the season    Mon Oct 24, 08:43 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Earnest Graham (Achilles') has a torn right Achilles' tendon and is out for the season, according to sources.

Buccaneers | Earnest Graham injured, will not return    Sun Oct 23, 01:43 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Earnest Graham (ankle) suffered an ankle injury in Week 7 and will not return to the game.

Footballguys view: Graham couldn't put weight on his leg as he hopped to the locker room. Look for Kregg Lumpkin to have a real shot to start in week 9 depending on the status of LeGarrette Blount. Chad Spann was just signed to the practice squad, he could also figure into the mix.

Buccaneers | LeGarrette Blount misses practice    Wed Oct 19, 06:09 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB LeGarrette Blount (knee) missed practice Wednesday, Oct. 19, and it looks like he will miss his second straight game in Week 7. He is walking with a tight wrap around his sprained left knee.

Footballguys view: Looks like more from Earnest Graham this week as the Bucs face off at home against the Bears. Even if he's shut down as a runner Graham can be used effectively as a receiver out of the backfield.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB LeGarrette Blount (knee) is likely to miss the team's Week 7 game in London against the Chicago Bears. RB Earnest Graham is expected to continue to receive the majority of touches in Blount's absence. The team has a bye week in Week 8.

Footballguys view: Graham showed vs. the Saints that he is definitely a strong RB2 play as long as Blount is out.

Buccaneers | Earnest Graham runs for 109 yards    Sun Oct 16, 11:40 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Earnest Graham, getting the start in place of the injured RB LeGarrette Blount (knee), rushed for 109 yards on 17 carries in Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints. Graham also added two catches for 22 yards. His backup, RB Kregg Lumpkin, totaled 13 yards on two totes.

Footballguys view: Graham showed great footwork, a low pad level, and relentless effort on his way to 100 yards. The Bucs running game is in good hands if LeGarrette Blount can't return soon. Graham is an RB2 until Blount returns.

Buccaneers | Earnest Graham expected to handle RB duties    Thu Oct 13, 01:05 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Earnest Graham is expected to have a chance to contribute from the tailback position in Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints. 'You guys know Earnest has done everything for us,' QB Josh Freeman said. 'Whether it's playing fullback, being the third down back and now this week he's going to get the majority of the reps, the majority of the carries. I mean, he's done it before...he's a guy we know can get it done.'

Footballguys view: Graham is an RB2 this week, and he should be added in all leagues.

Buccaneers | To lean heavily on Earnest Graham    Tue Oct 11, 01:52 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris indicated that the team will likely lean heavily on RB Earnest Graham in Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints if RB LeGarrette Blount (knee) is unable to play. RB Kregg Lumpkin will likely be the third-down specialist. The team can also incorporate RB Allen Bradford into the game at some point.

Footballguys view: Graham is very versatile and can be relied on as a receiver out of the backfield in addition to how he can help as a runner. He'll get a bulk of the touches from the RB position while Blount is out.

Buccaneers | LeGarrette Blount unlikely to play in Week 6    Mon Oct 10, 04:39 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB LeGarrette Blount (knee) is unlikely to be available against the New Orleans Saints in Week 6. Also, the team doesn't expect DL Gerald McCoy (ankle) to be available after injuring his left ankle in Week 5. McCoy is being listed as week-to-week. RBs Earnest Graham, Kregg Lumpkin and Allen Bradford are options at running back if Blount cannot play.

Footballguys view: Graham is a versatile player who can be effectively used as a Running Back or Fullback. He could be the lead back for the Bucs if Blount can't play because of this knee injury.

Buccaneers | Josh Freeman spreading it around    Wed Oct 5, 03:27 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman has been very effective on converting third downs this season, mainly because he is spreading the ball around to many targets. RB Earnest Graham and WR Preston Parker have been his favorite third-down targets this year. Parker is ranked second in the NFL in third-down receptions with 10, while Graham is tied for third overall with eight catches. TE Kellen Winslow has four third-down catches.

Footballguys view: With Freeman spreading the ball around it's difficult for fantasy owners to trust guys like Mike Williams from week to week. Freeman is also not airing it out much this year and seems hesitant to go downfield.

Buccaneers | Earnest Graham to be used a third-down guy?    Sun Aug 7, 10:35 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Earnest Graham has been taking most of the third-down snaps during training camp, and he is the favorite to land the role. However, RB LeGarrette Blount has gotten a share of the third-down snaps, too. Blount feels he can handle the role, as he has worked hard on his pass blocking and receiving skills.

Footballguys view: Graham is a Swiss Army Knife kind of back. He can do a little bit of everything as he's extremely versatile. The savvy veteran can help as a third-down back, emergency lead back, or fullback.

Buccaneers | Three to compete for third down RB job    Thu Aug 4, 03:31 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers FB Earnest Graham, RB Kregg Lumpkin and RB Allen Bradford are expected to compete to be the third-down back during training camp.

Footballguys view: Graham's not the same player he used to be, but is a versatile player who can do a little of everything. Lumpkin is an instinctive back who knows how to patiently wait for rushing lanes to open. However, injuries have held him back during his pro career. Bradford is a classic banger. He is tough between the tackles and loves to take on defenders at the point of attack.

Buccaneers | Earnest Graham could be third-down back    Mon Aug 1, 12:21 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers FB Earnest Graham is the front-runner to be the team's top backup to RB LeGarrette Blount this year. Graham could see less time at fullback as a result. Offensive coordinator Greg Olson said he has a lot of confidence in Graham and trusts him. He said if the season were to start today, Graham would be the team's third-down back. RB Kregg Lumpkin is also in the mix, and the team could always decide to re-sign free-agent RB Cadillac Williams. 'I know Earnest can handle the third down role. We'll see if Kregg can do that, too,' Olson said.

Buccaneers | Earnest Graham could be released    Mon Jul 18, 06:02 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers FB Earnest Graham could be released once the lockout is lifted because he is scheduled to count $3.105 million against the salary cap.

Footballguys view: The Bucs are going to be way under the salary cap, but $3 million is a lot to pay for a fullback. They could choose to release Graham and then bring him back at a reduced rate. He's a strong leader on the team with the versatility to help out in a number of different ways.

Buccaneers | RB Graham didn't need surgery on neck    Fri Jun 3, 07:25 PM

Anwar S. Richardson, from the Tampa Tribune, reports RB Earnest Graham's season ending neck injury from week 16 last year didn't require surgery. "I wasn't going to be able to play the next game, so you might as well open up the roster spot [by placing him on injured reserve]," Graham said. "We had a lot of young guys. I definitely wasn't going to be ready the next game. A neck is a thing you don't play around with. I'm getting in shape as normal now. I could be anything from a 215 pound halfback to 230 pound fullback. When we get back, I'll probably have an idea where I fit in. There is definitely value in being flexible, which I have been for most of my career."

Footballguys view: Graham is a very important player for the Bucs. He can play fullback and fill in adequately as a starting running back if need be. Graham is also a decent receiving option out of the backfield.

Buccaneers | Earnest Graham to be short-yardage option?    Wed Dec 8, 12:02 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers FB Earnest Graham is being considered for short-yardage situations, reports Stephen Holder, of the St. Petersburg Times. The coaching staff is puzzled by the periodic inability of RB LeGarrette Blount to convert in those situations while he appears to display hesitation and indecision at the line of scrimmage. 'We may have to look into a different direction in those situations but while we're still working with (Blount) at the same time,' head coach Raheem Morris said Tuesday, Dec. 7.

Buccaneers | LeGarrette Blount has power approach    Wed Sep 29, 05:56 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB LeGarrette Blount's power approach at running back has reminded head coach Raheem Morris of former FB Mike Alstott, according to The Tampa Tribune's Roy Cummings. The team will likely be using Blount as their short-yardage and goal-line back in the future. 'He's not declared,' said Morris, who indicated on his weekly radio show on Monday that Blount would be the Bucs' new option in goal-line and short-yardage situations. 'But he's definitely going to have a role (there) if he's not the back. He still has to go out there and compete with Earnest a little bit, but I'm sure Earnest Graham will gladly run up the sideline and tap him in if he keep giving us runs like that.'

Footballguys view: Blount is a big back who is difficult to bring down when he gets a head of steam. He also runs angry and fights for every yard possible. While he's not a full time back, Blount could be very effectively used on short yardage and goalline situations.

Buccaneers | Derrick Ward was not part of long-term plans    Tue Aug 31, 11:40 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris said free-agent RB Derrick Ward (Buccaneers) was not part of the team's long-term plans since RB Cadillac Williams is healthy and FB Earnest Graham will be a bigger part of the offense, report Wolf Heard and Charlie Campbell, of PewterReport.com. Morris said, "It's more about the resurgence of Mr. Cadillac, Mr. insurance Graham, where the team is heading and where we're going, our plan and direction, and how we want to go about our business. No decision is made lightly around here. It was just time to make it today." Morris added, "Right now, we have Cadillac who we are happy to have and also we have insurance Graham back there playing fullback for us and he is able to carry the ball as well. And also we have our little spark-plug in Huggy (RB Kareem Huggins) and he is able to come in a provide a different look for us and different turn around."

Footballguys view: Of note here is the prominent mention of Earnest Graham as depth at RB. Kareem Huggins is skyrocketing up the back half of some savvy owner's draft boards, but Graham could have just as much value, if not more, in the event that starter Cadillac Williams misses time.
