Cardinals | Mike Glennon joining Arizona    Wed Mar 14, 06:54 PM

Updating a previous report, free-agent QB Mike Glennon (Bears) agreed to terms on a two-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals Wednesday, March 14, worth $8 million, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Glennon gets to back up Sam Bradford for the Cardinals. That means Arizona fans should get ready for Glennon to start at some point this year as Bradford is one of the more oft-injured QBs in the league.

Cardinals | Arizona agrees to terms with Mike Glennon    Tue Mar 13, 09:02 PM

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon, who is expected to be released by the team Wednesday, March 14, agreed to terms on an undisclosed contract with the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday, March 13.

Footballguys view: With Sam Bradford under contract, the Cardinals needed to add a veteran backup. Bradford doesn't have a track record of staying healthy, so Glennon may see the field in 2018. Even with two quarterbacks added in free agency, we expect the Cardinals to explore their options at the position in the 2018 NFL draft.

Cardinals | Keeping an eye on Mike Glennon    Tue Mar 13, 12:29 PM

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon is expected to be on the radar of the Arizona Cardinals once he is officially released by the Bears on Wednesday, March 14.

Footballguys view: The Cardinals are running out of options. They wanted to be in on Kirk Cousins, but that was a pipe dream. With Cousins going to the Vikings, and Case Keenum going to the Broncos, Arizona is looking at guys like Glennon and then likely selecting a quarterback in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft.

Bears | Mike Glennon informed he'll be cut    Wed Feb 28, 10:15 AM

Updating previous reports, Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon was informed he'll be released when the new league year opens, according to general manager Ryan Pace.

Footballguys view: Pace missed in a big way on Glennon...in a move that costs the Bears $18.5 million for one year's worth of service. Glennon started four games before getting replaced by Mitchell Trubisky. He'll look for backup work somewhere around the league and should have a bit of a market.

Bears | Mike Glennon as good as gone?    Fri Feb 2, 01:20 AM

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon is expected to play elsewhere in 2018 according to ESPN's Jeff Dickerson, who put the odds of Glennon returning at 'virtually nil.'

Footballguys view: The Bears probably knew this outcome was likely as soon as they zeroed in on Mitchell Trubisky in last year's draft. The Buccaneers could bring Glennon back to be their #2 behind Jameis Winston. The team reportedly offered him a contract that would have made him the highest paid backup in the league last year. Like Denver with Brock Osweiler they can get their man a lot cheaper now because they came in second when he was on the open market.

Bears | Mike Glennon benched    Mon Oct 2, 10:36 AM

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon was replaced as the starting quarterback by QB Mitchell Trubisky, according to sources.

Footballguys view: It was only a matter of time for Glennon, and this outcome is not surprising in the least. The only surprising thing is that this benching didn't happen sooner. Glennon was a turnover machine with eight turnovers (five interceptions, three lost fumbles) in four games as the Bears starter.

Bears | Mike Glennon's job in doubt?    Sat Sep 30, 11:23 PM

Chicago Bears head coach John Fox said he would 'evaluate everything,' including QB Mike Glennon, ahead of the Week 5 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings.

Footballguys view: The Bears have a tough matchup against the Vikings in Week 5 and could decide to hold out Mitchell Trubisky to give him a less turbulent first start, but the team also appears to be fed up with Glennon. Trubisky certainly won't be a downgrade for the offense when he gets installed as the starter.

Bears | Mike Glennon has disastrous night    Fri Sep 29, 12:33 AM

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon completed 21 of 33 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football. He also turned the ball over four times, throwing two interceptions and losing a pair of fumbles.

Footballguys view: Glennon's numbers mostly came when the Bears were behind big in part because of his numerous mistakes. He might not start Week 5 against the Vikings. Mitchell Trubisky should be on the deep league, superflex and 2QB radar, especially after his strong preseason.

Bears | Mike Glennon passes for 101 yards    Sun Sep 24, 08:03 PM

Bears | Mike Glennon surpasses 300-yard mark    Sun Sep 17, 04:17 PM

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon went 31-for-45 for 301 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2.

Footballguys view: Glennon was completely ineffective in the first half and his turnovers along with Tarik Cohen's muffed punt basically gave the Bucs no chance. The Mitchell Trubisky doomsday clock gets closer to midnight with the Steelers up next.

Bears | Mike Glennon throws for 213 yards, TD    Sun Sep 10, 06:29 PM

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon completed 26 of his 40 pass attempts for 213 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the Week 1 game against the Falcons.

Footballguys view: Glennon wasn't able to get much going downfield, but he did drive the team down the field for four shots at a game-winning touchdown and twice made a throw good enough to win the game. He's not much for fantasy next week at Tampa, but he'll keep Mitchell Trubisky on the bench with performances like this one.

Bears | Mike Glennon has solid outing    Sun Aug 27, 04:56 PM

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon went 11-for-18 for 134 yards and one touchdown in the preseason game against the Tennessee Titans Sunday, Aug. 27.

Footballguys view: Glennon did more to instill confidence in his abilities than he had at any point this summer. Mitchell Trubisky has looked better, but against second-team defenses. Glennon should get at least 3-4 games to show his wares before the team would consider pulling him.

Bears | Mike Glennon the strong favorite    Wed Aug 16, 11:06 AM

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon is the strong favorite to open the season as the starter based on everything the team has said, in the opinion of beat writer Brad Biggs.

Footballguys view: Glennon should be the starter at the beginning of the regular season. The team spent a lot of money to add him in free agency earlier this year. However, we don't think Glennon finishes the season as the starter. At some point, rookie first-round pick Mitchell Trubisky should take over. He's the future of the team and has looked great so far in the preseason.

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon completed two of his eight pass attempts for 20 yards and had an interception returned for a touchdown in a preseason game against the Denver Broncos Thursday, Aug. 10.

Footballguys view: To make things worse, Mitchell Trubisky was flawless for a good part of his time in the game. The Bears may have a quarterback controversy on their hands already. If this continues, expect Trubisky to play very soon, maybe even in Week 1 vs. Atlanta.

Bears | Cameron Meredith building chemistry with QB    Wed Aug 2, 10:42 PM

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith is building chemistry with QB Mike Glennon and appears to be Glennon's favorite targets during the early part of training camp.

Footballguys view: Kevin White doesn't seem to be living up to his draft status and Marcus Wheaton is out after an emergency appendectomy, so Meredith is set up to be a target hog again this year. He's an intriguing choice around his ADP as a former quarterback who is still growing as a wide receiver.

Bears | GM says Mike Glennon is starter    Wed Jul 26, 02:33 PM

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon is the team's starting quarterback, according to general manager Ryan Pace.

Footballguys view: They made the move to add Glennon in free agency so he's the starter....for now. The Bears move up in the first round for Mitchell Trubisky and he's clearly the quarterback of the future. Trubisky should take over for Glennon later this year but will need to prove that he's ready for prime time.

Bears | Mitchell Trubisky endorses Mike Glennon    Fri Jun 30, 03:22 PM

Chicago Bears first-round QB Mitchell Trubisky threw his support behind Mike Glennon in an interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio on Friday, June 30.

Footballguys view: Glennon is the free agent addition who got a three-year, $45 million contract from the Bears earlier this year. In 2017, Glennon will have a cap hit of $14 million and a dead cap value of $18.5 million. He's the starter until Trubisky is ready for prime time. We could see Trubisky get a 'redshirt' year during his rookie season so long as Glennon doesn't fail miserably as the team's starter.

Bears | Mike Glennon to remain starter    Fri Apr 28, 12:16 AM

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon will remain the team's starting quarterback, according to GM Ryan Pace.

Footballguys view: It's going to take time for Mitch Trubisky to get his feet under him but the Bears rookie will probably be in the mix for a job. If the Bears are smart, and if Trubisky looks good, Glennon's salary shouldn't keep them from making the switch.

Bears | Mike Glennon ready to show growth    Fri Mar 10, 09:31 PM

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon said he has grown physically and mentally and is eager to show what he can do on the field.

Footballguys view: Glennon has looked good during his time starting in the NFL. He's certainly shown the game is not too big for him. Glennon is going to get a shot, but we still believe the Bears could be interested in a rookie QB with a premium pick in the 2017 NFL draft.

Bears | Mike Glennon deal close to final    Thu Mar 9, 08:19 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon is close to finalizing a three-year deal with the Chicago Bears, which would pay him $14.5 million per season.

Footballguys view: The Bears have to be looking at him as a bridge quarterback, and we still believe they will select a rookie signal-caller in the upcoming draft. Glennon is an average quarterback making some money due to a lackluster free agency pool, but he has the experience to survive what could be a rebuilding offense in Chicago.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon is expected to receive a deal worth $14-$15 million per year, according to multiple sources.

Bears | Chicago may be favorite for Mike Glennon    Sun Mar 5, 04:17 PM

The Chicago Bears are believed to have the strongest interest in Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon and could be considered the leading candidate to sign him.

Footballguys view: Glennon turned down a contract offer to stay with the Bucs that would've paid him around $8 million a year. He's set to get more than that on the open market as a potential sponsor. The Bears could add Glennon but use him as a "bridge" quarterback if they select a rookie QB with a premium pick in the 2017 NFL draft.

Jets | NYJ to come hard after Mike Glennon    Sat Mar 4, 06:35 PM

Impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon (Buccaneers) is expected to be pursued heavily by the New York Jets when the new league year begins Thursday, March 9, according to Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline.

Footballguys view: It's interesting that the Jets would go hard after Glennon as there may not be many teams that do. We like what he showed as a rookie in 2013 with the Bucs, but over the last two years he's played sparingly as a backup behind Jameis Winston. The Jets need a quarterback, and it seems like Glennon could be their top target.

Buccaneers | Mike Glennon offered big money    Thu Mar 2, 05:27 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon was offered $8 million per year to stay as the backup quarterback. That figure would make Glennon the highest paid backup in the NFL.

Footballguys view: He may wait and see if anyone wants to give him more or a shot at a starting gig. We think a team like the Jets or Bills could have interest, but we also think the Bucs may not leave that offer out there forever. Glennon has shown a little, but that was a while ago. Is he worth more? Does he gamble he is? We think he will.

Buccaneers | Tampa Bay makes offer to Mike Glennon    Wed Mar 1, 06:10 PM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made an offer to impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon that would make him the highest-paid backup quarterback in the NFL.

Footballguys view: The Bucs are trying to CYA with a quality backup, and the offer makes sense. Glennon is expected to hit the free-agent market with a possibility to start but is evaluating each team because he believes an unstable coaching situation could hurt his chances to succeed.

Bears | Chicago may consider Mike Glennon    Wed Mar 1, 04:03 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon is expected to receive interest from the Chicago Bears during free agency.

Footballguys view: With Jimmy Garoppolo and A.J. McCarron both likely staying with their current teams, the QB market is even thinner. Glennon looked good as a rookie, but he's been serving as a backup to Jameis Winston. He should get a chance to start somewhere in 2017.

Jets | Mike Glennon may be option for Jets    Mon Feb 20, 06:16 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon is expected to receive interest from the New York Jets this offseason.

Footballguys view: The Jets may want someone like Tyrod Taylor, but they may have to settle for a player like Glennon. He was a competent starter for the Bucs before they added QB Jameis Winston, and somebody will give him a shot to start again. The Jets spent a second-round pick on Christian Hackenberg last year and it looks like he's a complete flop.

Browns | Jimmy Garoppolo top target for Browns?    Sun Feb 19, 03:17 PM

New England Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo appears to be the top target for Cleveland Browns this offseason, in the opinion of The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot. The Browns could consider quarterbacks like Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor, Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo and Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon if they are not able to acquire Garoppolo.

Footballguys view: The Brown are looking for a franchise quarterback, and they must think Garoppolo can be that guy. We'll see if they can put a package together that would entice the Patriots into trading away the young quarterback.

Browns | Cleveland unlikely to pursue Mike Glennon    Wed Feb 15, 02:43 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon probably will not be a target for the Cleveland Browns this offseason, in the opinion of ESPN Cleveland's Tony Grossi.

Footballguys view: Glennon has been waiting for the chance to be a starter in the NFL. He was a third-round pick in 2013 and played in 13 games that year, putting up over 2,600 yards passing with 19 touchdowns and only nine interceptions. The Browns may not be interested, but we're certain plenty of other teams will be.

Jets | NYJ 'seem' to have eyes on Mike Glennon    Sat Feb 4, 06:20 PM

Impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon may be the most likely candidate to fill the New York Jets' need at quarterback, according to NJ Advance Media's Connor Hughes.

Footballguys view: Glennon was actually excellent by rookie standards back in 2013, and he has a better resume than Brock Osweiler because his success was earlier in his career. Osweiler got 37 million guaranteed, but his failure will give teams pause when paying Glennon. He should get an incentive and playing-time bonus laden deal somewhere along with a chance to compete to start. The Jets aren't going to be one of the most attractive destinations for a quarterback so a second-tier option like Glennon makes sense.

Buccaneers | Mike Glennon may be too expensive for Bucs    Wed Feb 1, 05:47 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht indicated the team would like to re-sign impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon, but he may be too expensive to sign since he likely will receive interest from teams looking for a starting quarterback.

Footballguys view: Glennon will likely get a contract that makes most people scream overpaid, but after Brock Osweiler's deal last year, nothing will surprise us. Glennon was surprisingly good in his rookie year for a mid-round pick, and he is probably one of the best options outside of Tony Romo for a team looking for a starter for the short term.

Buccaneers | Mike Glennon could cash in    Fri Dec 23, 10:33 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon could receive $13-$15 million per year on his next contract depending on the number of teams bidding.

Footballguys view: We could see that happening. Only 27 years old, Glennon has looked like a solid starter when under center with the Bucs. He hasn't taken many snaps since Tampa selected Jameis Winston with the first-overall pick in 2015, but Glennon is going to be high on the priority list of teams looking for free agent help at quarterback. He's tossed 30 touchdowns and 15 interceptions during his pro career.

Buccaneers | 50-50 chance for Mike Glennon trade?    Sat Apr 9, 01:50 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon has a 50-50 chance of being traded before the NFL Draft, according to Mark Cook of Pewter Report. Cook noted the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets as the two most likely landing spots for Glennon if he were to be traded.

Footballguys view: There is speculation that Bucs general manager Jason Licht could pull the trigger on a trade if a second-round pick or a low-end second round pick and a fourth-round pick is offered. Glennon looked decent as his time as a starter early in his career, and he may want out of Tampa to get a chance at starting again.

Jets | Mike Glennon of interest to New York    Tue Mar 29, 07:33 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon has drawn interest from the New York Jets, who have inquired about Tampa Bay's backup quarterback.

Footballguys view: The Bucs like Glennon as their backup behind Jameis Winston, but it sounds like they'd listen to reasonable offers. He could be acquired for a third-round pick, and that's something the Jets might consider. Contract talks with Ryan Fitzpatrick seem to be at an impasse right now, and it's got the Jets looking at other options.

Buccaneers | Mike Glennon could be extended    Tue Mar 29, 07:26 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon has been the subject of trade talks in recent weeks, but he could also receive an extension from the Buccaneers if a trade does not work out. Tampa Bay has already discussed a two-year extension for Glennon that would likely be worth at least $6 million per year.

Footballguys view: Why would Glennon sign an extension when he's just a year from being an unrestricted free agent. The QB market is crazy right now (thanks Eagles...Sam Bradford, really?), and Glennon may want to see what he'd bring next offseason.

Broncos | Denver not rushing QB decision    Wed Mar 23, 01:03 PM

Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak said the Broncos are not in a rush to add another quarterback this offseason. Kubiak said QB Mark Sanchez will learn the team's offense quickly because of his familiarity with the verbiage during his days in college, and Sanchez has been at the team facility offseason since he signed. Free-agent QBs Robert Griffin III (Redskins) and Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) are options, as well as trading for San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick, Houston Texans QB Brian Hoyer or Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon.

Footballguys view: If this team can win a Super Bowl with one foot in the grave Peyton Manning, they shouldn't feel rushed or pressured into any quarterback decisions. They can at least return to the playoffs with Sanchez as long as the defense continues its reign. This is little solace to anyone depending on Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas in fantasy leagues.

Buccaneers | Mike Glennon a trade target     Mon Mar 21, 03:16 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon has drawn interest from several teams, according to general manager Jason Licht. Licht said trade discussions could continue until the NFL draft. Licht also refuted a claim that the Buccaneers were demanding a No. 1 draft pick in exchange for Glennon. The New York Jets are just one team that has inquired about Glennon.

Footballguys view: The Bucs like Glennon as a backup to Jameis Winston, but he's entering the final year of his rookie contract. He's got starting experience, a strong arm and enough athleticism to keep plays alive with his feet. Glennon could be seen as a cheaper and better option to other QBs left on the open market.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon is being mentioned as a possible trade target for the Denver Broncos after they lost free-agent QB Brock Osweiler to the Houston Texans on Wednesday, March 9.

Footballguys view: The Bucs like Glennon as their no.2 QB behind Jameis Winston. A third-round pick in 2013, Glennon may play out his rookie contract as a reserve player. Bucs GM Jason Licht has stated more than once that he's not getting rid of Glennon.

Buccaneers | Mike Evans feels he was held back    Mon Jun 29, 10:00 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans is expected to play more on an island in 2015 as the 'X' receiver in Tampa Bay's new offense, which is the same role offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter created for Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones during Koetter's time with that organization. He said Monday, June 29, that the QB carousell of Josh McCown and Mike Glennon last year held him back, too, so he is excited about a potential breakout with QB Jameis Winston.

Footballguys view: All the people who doubt Evans can best the numbers he posted last year need to read this story. Yes, the 12 touchdown receptions could be difficult to duplicate--and touchdowns are always more difficult to project. However, he could easily get at least 10 touchdowns this year with more receptions and more yards. Winston is a serious upgrade and a more confident passer than McCown and Glennon combined. It's lazy analysis to say Evans will suffer in 2015 because of his rookie quarterback.

Buccaneers | Mike Glennon wants to stay put    Fri May 29, 12:26 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon said he is happy with the team and won't ask for a trade during the offseason.

Footballguys view: We're actually a bit surprised that Glennon didn't get moved during the draft. He's got a strong arm and some mobility that helps him keep plays alive. Glennon has starting experience and has appeared in 19 games over the last two years. He'll work as a primary backup behind Jameis Winston in 2015.

Buccaneers | Mike Glennon could be trade option    Wed Mar 25, 02:37 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon has been a topic of conversation from other teams checking on his availability this offseason, according to head coach Lovie Smith.

Footballguys view: We've expected this for some time. The Bucs are likely to take a QB (Jameis Winston) with the first-overall pick in the draft. Glennon has plenty of starting experience, and he'd be an upgrade over what some teams have on their roster.

Browns | CLE interested in Mike Glennon?    Tue Feb 24, 09:19 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon is a player the Cleveland Browns are believed to be interested in, according to two league sources.

Footballguys view: There haven't been any formal offers, but if the Buccaneers are willing to deal Glennon he is a name worth watching. The Bucs will have their franchise QB when they select Jameis Winston with the number one pick in the 2015 NFL draft. Glennon might be able to fetch them a third-round pick (or so) by a team interested in a quarterback with 19 games experience, a strong arm and decent upside.

Buccaneers | Mike Glennon a franchise QB?    Wed Feb 18, 01:20 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon has what it takes to develop into the team's franchise quarterback, according to head coach Lovie Smith. 'Yeah, I think you can definitely say that Mike can be the quarterback that can play at a high level in this league,' Smith said when asked if Glennon can be a franchise quarterback. 'And I mean, we only have one quarterback on our roster. If you look at the comments I've made about him, yes, I think he can be that guy.' General manager Jason Licht also expressed confidence in Glennon.

Footballguys view: We like Glennon, but he's not a franchise quarterback on the level of some of the best in the game. He's a good starter with limited upside. If he was a franchise quarterback, then Tampa would not be interested in selecting a QB with the number one overall pick.

Buccaneers | Mike Glennon to open 2015 as starter?    Fri Feb 13, 10:11 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon will likely open the 2015 season as the starter until whichever quarterback the team drafts with the No. 1 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft is ready to take over, according to former Indianapolis Colts general manager Bill Polian.

Footballguys view: That's nice in theory, but Glennon could be on the trade block. The Bucs let Josh McCown go, and he might be the best QB on the free agent market. A team who wants a different option may approach the Bucs with a trade offer for Glennon. The Bucs are likely to select QB Jameis Winston (Florida State) with the number one overall pick.
