Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Antonio Gibson (Commanders) officially signed with the New England Patriots Thursday, March 14. Terms of the contract were not disclosed, but an earlier report stated it is a three-year contract worth as much as $17.25 million.

That's good news for a player like Gibson who is more of an "OW" (offensive weapon) than a true "RB" (running back). He can thrive as a runner, but RB Brian Robinson should get plenty of work to soften up defenses in the middle. Gibson can line up in the slot to run routes or he can catch passes cleanly out of the backfield. With his skill set, it's easy to see Gibson's flex appeal working in a Bieniemy offense. |
