Vito Stellino, from the Florida Times-Union, reports David Garrard passed for only 139 yards, threw two interceptions and had a 35.9 passer rating against the Titans on Sunday. That's why, later in the game, they Jaguars told Garrard not to check out of running plays. "We took that privilege away or that ability away and said, "Look, just hand it to him and let him run the ball,' " head coach Jack Del Rio said. Del Rio continued and said in the future they won't completely take away Garrard's ability to audible, but they might have some calls when he's told to run it.
| Our view: With a player like Maurice Jones-Drew a team just has to find a way to get him the football. The way that Garrard has been out of sync in the passing game it doesn't surprise us that more MJD is on the way. |

Vic Ketchman, from Jaguars.com, reports David Garrard has had passes sail on him. Why? That's the question that has to be answered. Is he overstriding? That's the usual cause of passes that sail. Two summers ago, when Garrard won the job on the strength of a fantastic training camp and preseason, Ketchman made the comment that he looked like a pitcher who had taken something off his fastball and, as a result, was throwing more strikes and fewer balls. That's want Ketchman wants to see again - Garrard take something off his fast ball and start throwing strikes again.

Michael C. Wright, of the Florida Times-Union, reports so far at camp, Garrard hasn't looked especially sharp in drills. Tyron Brackenridge stepped in front of an errant Garrard throw for an interception during Friday's morning workout that would've gone for a touchdown. Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said part of those perceived struggles at camp can be attributed to Garrard working with a variety of young receivers. "Mechanically, he's been very sound, making good decisions," Del Rio said. "It's about building that trust with him and the receivers, getting on the same page."
| Our view: Garrard is getting used to the new weapons he has on offense like Torry Holt, Mike Thomas, and Jarett Dillard. He will have to have a good season so the rumblings about needing a new quarterback (like Florida's Tim Tebow) don't begin. |

| Our view: Garrad said being more muscular at 238 pounds will allow him to play "at a higher pace longer." He is tough to bring down, and being more muscular will only help him when he's eluding defenders and making plays with his feet. |

It seems like every team in the league is going to run - or at least have the option to run - the Wildcat. MJD could break a few long runs out of the formation the same way that Ronnie Brown did when the Dolphins unveiled their version of the Wildcat. |
