The Seattle Seahawks released RB Quinton Ganther, CB Nate Ness and LB Slade Norris Tuesday, Nov. 2, according to The Associated Press.

Seahawks | Could have decision to make at fullback    Thu Sep 2, 01:40 AM

Seattle Seahawks FB Owen Schmitt is the team's only true fullback, but RB Quinton Ganther is capable of playing the role, reports Danny O'Neil, of The Seattle Times.   Seahawks | Quinton Ganther could be fifth RB to make cut    Fri Aug 13, 09:26 PM

Seattle Seahawks RB Quinton Ganther (head) could make the final cuts because of his versatility, reports The Seattle Times' Danny O'Neil. Seattle typically keeps three running backs and two fullbacks, but because of the premium placed on tight ends in their system, they'll likely only keep FB Owen Schmitt. Ganther can play some fullback as well as feature on special teams, which could secure a final spot on the 53-man roster. Ganther missed a practice this week after taking a hit to the head in a scrimmage Sunday, Aug. 8.

Footballguys view: Even if Ganther makes the team, he's unlikely to have fantasy value unless he's the goal line back.

Seahawks | Police and courts: Quinton Ganther    Sat Jul 31, 01:34 AM

Seattle Seahawks RB Quinton Ganther had an arraignment regarding his DUI charges Wednesday, July 28, reports Danny O'Neil, of The Seattle Times. It was continued until Sept. 1. Ganther, who is battling for a roster spot with the Seahawks, faces two DUI charges.

Footballguys view: Ganther is currently the only experienced power back on the roster, and now he won't have to have camp interrupted by answering these chargers. He still could be facing a league suspension, so he'll have to really impress in camp to make the team.

Seahawks | Quinton Ganther to appear in court Wednesday    Mon Jul 5, 03:29 AM

Seattle Seahawks RB Quinton Ganther has been released from Sacramento (Calif.) County Jail Saturday, July 3, and is scheduled for a court appearance Wednesday, July 7, reports The Associated Press, citing The Seattle Times.

Footballguys view: Ganther has a chance to make the roster as the Seahawks 'big back' but this recent arrest isn't going to endear him to the coaching staff. We expect Roger Goodell to get involved here as well.

Seahawks | Ganther arrested on suspicion of DUI    Sat Jul 3, 01:54 PM

Danny O'Neil, of the Seattle Times, reports that Seahawks RB Quinton Ganther was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Saturday, July 3 in Sacramento, California. The team declined to comment on the pending case.

Footballguys view: And the chances of Marshawn Lynch becoming a Seahawks take another tick up, although they may be reluctant to roster another possible problem child after the LenDale White debacle.

Seahawks | Ganther could be a goalline option    Fri Jun 11, 04:29 PM

CBSSports.com reports Seattle coach Pete Carroll addressed the RB situation Tuesday and said the competition for the starting job is "wide open" between Julius Jones and Justin Forsett. Leon Washington and Quinton Ganther could also see carries, but Carroll isn't ready to name one RB the starter. Carroll even said Ganther, who is going to play some fullback, could work as the short-yardage back. "We need to see when we get the pads on the guys that make the first downs," Carroll said. "The guys that have the knack for finding the little creases, and we'll think about it which guys are best suited for the roles in the offense."

Footballguys view: Ganther is a lunch pail, blue collar guy and could be a goalline option for the team because of his size and determination. We're not expecting much from Ganther this year (if he makes the final roster) and he's not worth rostering unless you're in a very deep league.

Seahawks | Ganther could replace White    Sun May 30, 01:59 PM

CBSSports.com reports the Seahawks waived RB LenDale White on Friday. "It became apparent at this time that LenDale was not ready to be a member of the Seattle Seahawks," said GM John Schneider. "It just did not appear to be the right fit at this point in our program. We wish LenDale all the best with his future." Seattle acquired White in a trade from Tennessee during the NFL Draft. The Seahawks didn't give up much to acquire White, who reportedly was in great shape, saying he weighed 219 pounds at the team's most recent practice. The expectation was White would not only be able to contribute, but he would compete for a starting spot with Justin Forsett, Leon Washington and Julius Jones. Now, White will be looking for a new job, and this move could help Quinton Ganther stay at RB instead of shifting to FB.

Footballguys view: Ganther played with White in Tennessee, and was a solid reserve back and special teams player. He could be in for some carries near the goalline, but we believe Justin Forsett could win the starting job and get a majority of the carries on the season. Even without White, the Seahawks backfield is jam packed with guys like Ganther, Forsett, Leon Washington, and Julius Jones.

Seahawks | Ganther to sign    Thu Mar 18, 10:11 AM

Danny O'Neil, of the Seattle Times, reports the Seattle Seahawks will sign unrestricted free-agent RB Quinton Ganther (Redskins), according to his agent.

Titans | V. Young, Ganther reportedly hung out with Kazemi    Fri Dec 18, 11:43 PM

Kate Howard and Clay Carey, of The Tennessean, reports Tennessee Titans QB Vince Young and Washington Redskins RB Quinton Ganther reportedly hung out with Sahel Kazemi, according to Kazemi's friend and former roommate, Emily Andrews. Kazemi shot and killed former NFL QB Steve McNair before killing herself July 4. Andrews told police she and Kazemi had a get-together with Young and Ganther at a condo owned by McNair. Ganther said he met Kazemi at the restaurant where she worked for several months before the shooting. She had sent him text messages and visited his apartment once, but Ganther denied having a romantic relationship with her. Ganther was interviewed by police, but detectives have not talked to Young and say he is irrelevant to the investigation.

Redskins | Ganther scores twice Week 14    Sun Dec 13, 08:23 PM

The Associated Press reports Washington Redskins RB Quinton Ganther had 14 carries for 50 yards with two touchdowns Week 14. He also had three receptions for 43 receiving yards in the game.

Footballguys view: Right place, right time for Ganther, who showed a strong burst in the open field on a couple of long gainers and converting two red zone chances successfully. Marcus Mason saw a few carries late after the game was well in hand, but it would appear that Ganther will be the Redskins' primary back moving forward.

Redskins | Committee approach to run game to continue    Tue Dec 8, 02:59 PM

Jason Reid, of The Washington Post, reports the Washington Redskins' running-back-by-committee between RBs Rock Cartwright, Quinton Ganther and Marcus Mason will continue after an impressive performance in Week 13. 'I like the way all the running backs are giving effort,' head coach Jim Zorn said. 'It's one of those deals where, by committee, we're doing a pretty good job. I think each guy in his own right is going as hard as he can. I think we're getting better as we go down here. The guys are feeling more and more comfortable getting themselves up the field.'

Footballguys view: Cartwright, Ganther, and Mason are not exciting fantasy options and the Redskins may decide to feature more of the passing game as the season comes to a close.

The NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports Washington Redskins RB Ladell Betts (ankle) will start in Week 10 in place of RB Clinton Portis (concussion), but Betts still isn't 100 percent. The Redskins may rotate other backs with Betts to keep him fresh. Rick Maese, of The Washington Post, reports Washington Redskins RB Rock Cartwright and RB Quinton Ganther likely will see playing time at running back in Week 10.

Footballguys view: Both Portis and Betts are banged up, so the Redskins may look further down the depth chart for production in the running game. However, if they get behind early against the Broncos they will be forced to air it out in order to stay in the game.

Rick Maese, of The Washington Post, reports the Washington Redskins have re-signed free-agent RB Quinton Ganther. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Titans | Several expected to compete for No. 3 RB job    Tue Jul 21, 03:29 PM

Gary Estwick, of The Tennessean, reports Tennessee Titans RBs Chris J. Henry, Quinton Ganther, Rafael Little and Javon Ringer will be competing for the No. 3 running back job during training camp. The third running back likely will have to be able to run between the tackles and pass block as well as be a receiver out of the backfield. The running back will also have to help out on special teams.

Footballguys view: We like Ringer to win the job. The Titans wouldn't have drafted him if they were happy with Chris Henry. Rafael Little is basically still a rookie after he missed the 2008 season, and he's only a third-down back. Ganther is a solid back, but he's just roster fodder.
