Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup (knee) 'looks good' and could run a more varied route tree in 2023 after running too many go routes in 2022, according to comments this spring from head coach Mike McCarthy.'Michael's very important. I think that the biggest thing with Michael - and I know he wants it too - he just wants to have a healthy season. He's been through these injuries here and he looks good. I mean this is really the first time in my time here he's had a full offseason program. Yeah, he's very important,' McCarthy said.
| Footballguys view: This is not the first time we've heard this about Gallup this offseason. His ACL injury in late 2021 caused Gallup to not quite look like himself in 2022. Now, getting further away from the injury and with a more varied route tree, Gallup should be in for a bounce-back season in 2023. We could see him approaching the WR2 numbers he had in 2019 (66 catches, 1,107 yards, six touchdowns). Drafting him late as a WR4/flex is a value add for your fantasy team. |

Charean Williams, from ProFootballTalk.com, reports Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup said he's "very confident" he can return to the player he was prior to suffering a torn ACL in January 2022. Gallup said Wednesday, via 105.3 The Fan. "My knee was feeling sore, and it was just different. Last year at this time, I couldn't walk. It's different now. I feel springy again. It just feels different. It's kind of like in the air. I'm smiling every time I walk in that facility."
| Footballguys view: Gallup did not look like himself last year as he was trying to play less than a year removed from that ACL injury. In 14 games, Gallup was targeted 74 times and caught 39 passes for 424 yards on four touchdowns. His WR2 season of 2019 is far in the past, and the Cowboys brought in WR Brandin Cooks for more firepower behind superstar CeeDee Lamb. We'll see if and how much Gallup can bounce back in 2023. |

Know what he can do. Coming off a major ACL, I think it's pretty typical, you know, that guys improve, (and) from the first year to the second year is usually the jump. And I fully expect Michael to do that, and then I think we've got a good competitive group after that. Can we look at maybe improving it? Absolutely,' executive vice president Stephen Jones said during the NFL Scouting Combine in February.
