Ravens | Sign eight to futures contracts Mon Dec 30, 02:25 PM
The Baltimore Ravens signed TE Matt Furstenburg WR Kamar Aiken, DT Cody Larsen, OT David Mims, TE Nathan Overbay, WR Gerrard Sheppard, QB Nick Stephens and C Reggie Stephens. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: These players are ones the Ravens want to see in the offseason workout program. Super deep dynasty owners should keep an eye on a guy like Overbay. He could be a talented move tight end if he continues to develop. |

Ravens | One cut, seven re-signed Sun Sep 1, 04:11 PM
The Baltimore Ravens injury-waived WR LaQuan Williams (hamstring) and re-signed S Omar Brown, LB Brandon Copeland, OT Jordan Devey, TE Matt Furstenburg, DT Cody Larsen, C Reggie Stephens and OT Joe Unga.
Footballguys view: Furstenberg has good hands and speed for a tight end, and he might figure into the team's offense by the end of the year, especially if Dallas Clark is running on fumes. |

Ravens | Seven players released Sat Aug 31, 11:19 AM
The Baltimore Ravens have released WR Tandon Doss, RB Bobby Rainey, TE Billy Bajema, TE Matt Furstenburg, OT Joe Unga, DT Cody Larsen and FS Omar Brown.
Footballguys view: Rainey just doesn't have what it takes to make an impact at the pro level. By cutting Rainey the Ravens are down to only two running backs (Ray Rice, Bernard Pierce) on the roster. Doss was outplayed by veteran Brandon Stokley in camp. He may find catching on with another team difficult. |

Ravens | Injuries create chance for Matt Furstenburg Wed Aug 7, 12:02 PM
Baltimore Ravens TE Matt Furstenburg is likely to see plenty of playing time in the preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 8, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with TEs Dennis Pitta (hip) out for the season and Ed Dickson (hamstring) out at least a week. Furstenburg is hopeful of making the 53-man roster, but if not, he hopes to latch on elsewhere. 'I've progressed a lot,' Furstenburg said Wednesday, Aug. 7. 'I'm just trying to learn the system, get in and do my thing. Just play fast, that's the biggest thing.'

Ravens | Visanthe Shiancoe to compete for backup job Mon Jul 29, 01:12 PM
Baltimore Ravens TE Visanthe Shiancoe is expected to compete with TEs Billy Bajema, Matt Furstenburg and Alex Silvestro for the backup tight end job to TE Ed Dickson.
Footballguys view: Shiancoe is not the same player he used to be but gives the Ravens more veteran depth at the TE position. Bajema is a better blocker but Shiancoe may be able to impress as a receiver in training camp. |

Ravens | Three expected to compete for No. 3 TE job Wed Jul 17, 04:23 PM
Baltimore Ravens TEs Billy Bajema, Alex Silvestro and Matt Furstenburg will be competing for the No. 3 tight end job during training camp.
Footballguys view: Bajema could have an edge in the competition because it is mostly a blocking role and he has experience as a blocker. The main factor as to who wins the job may come down to which player performs the best on special teams. We'll see Dennis Pitta and Ed Dickson as the two primary TEs for the Ravens in 2013. |
