Dolphins | Charlie Frye is new QB coach Sat Jan 23, 02:05 PM
Central Michigan offensive coordinator Charlie Frye on Saturday, Jan. 23, was announced as the Miami Dolphins' new quarterbacks coach. In a corresponding move, the Dolphins announced they've parted ways with quarterbacks coach Robby Brown.
Footballguys view: Frye is a former NFL quarterback and he was an athletic passer who could make plays on the run. We'll see how he works with Tua Tagovailoa in his second season. |

Titans | Rookie QB Locker has shown a ton of improvement Sun Jun 5, 07:50 PM
Jim Wyatt, from the Tennessean, commented in an interview on The Audible that Titans rookie QB Jake Locker has been working with former Jets QB Ken O'Brien in the Los Angeles area. According to O'Brien the rookie has already shown a ton of improvement so far this offseason.
Footballguys view: Locker is working on throwing with a better base in order to be more accurate when he throws. The Titans may add a veteran to begin the season as the starter but we could see Locker taking over somewhere around the midway point of the season if he's ready. Options for the team include guys like Kerry Collins, Matt Hasselbeck, Charlie Frye, and Rex Grossman. |

Titans | Likely to bring in veteran QB Wed May 18, 06:23 PM
Matt Williamson, from ESPN.com, reports the Tennessee Titans are likely to bring in a veteran QB to mentor rookie Jake Locker. Williamson would prefer a veteran with a similar skill set to Locker and someone other than longtime Titans QB Kerry Collins.
Footballguys view: The Vince Young era is over, and the Locker era is getting off to a slow start because of the lockout. We think the Titans could easily bring back Collins, but may choose to pursue a player like Matt Hasselbeck, Charlie Frye, or Rex Grossman. |

Raiders | Could consider re-signing Charlie Frye Wed May 11, 03:35 PM
The Oakland Raiders may be interested in re-signing impending free-agent QB Charlie Frye to be their No. 3 quarterback.
Footballguys view: Frye may choose to stick around in Oakland, but other teams might be interested in the veteran quarterback. The Bengals may have an interest in bringing Frye to the team as a backup behind Carson Palmer. |

Bengals | Could add veteran QB behind Dalton Sun May 8, 04:11 PM
Joe Reedy, from the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports the Bengals could add a veteran QB for insurance behind rookie Andy Dalton. Reedy believes Rex Grossman, Jim Sorgi, and Charlie Frye are the most realistic options.
Footballguys view: All three veterans would know they're only backup options behind rookie Andy Dalton. Grossman and Frye have starting experience, while Sorgi has been playing as a backup behind Peyton and Eli Manning for years now. With Carson Palmer likely retired or traded, Jordan Palmer may also be on his way out the door. That would leave Cincinnati with only Dalton and Dan LeFevour on the roster. |

Raiders | Frye to start Sunday against the Broncos Wed Dec 16, 01:11 PM
Frank Schwab, from the Colorado Springs Gazette, reports Raiders head coach Tom Cable announced that Charlie Frye would be the starting quarterback for the Oakland Raiders as they face the Broncos on Sunday.
Footballguys view: JaMarcus Russell gets denied the starting job here. With Bruce Gradkowski likely headed to IR (knees) the Raiders had to choose between giving Frye a start, or going back to Russell. The team also signed J.P. Losman yesterday, so he could see some playing time if Frye struggles against the Broncos. |

Cable added he would wait until Monday, Dec. 14, to name a starting quarterback for Week 15.

Raiders | Russell remains starter for now Tue Nov 17, 12:59 PM
Steve Corkran, of the Oakland Tribune, reports Oakland Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell remains the team's starting quarterback for the time being, in part because of a hamstring injury suffered by QB Bruce Gradkowski (hamstring) in Week 10. Head coach Tom Cable wants to meet with his quarterbacks, go over the plan for Week 11 and the rest of the season, and put that plan in motion, which could take more time than expected. 'We haven't gotten anywhere with that decision,' Cable said Monday, Nov. 16. 'We hoped to be able to talk about it now, but we're not ready to do that.' The discussions will be among Cable and his quarterbacks, with managing general partner Al Davis not influencing the decision, Cable said. QB Charlie Frye also is a viable option to start.
Footballguys view: Russell actually played well in the first half last week. If the Raiders have any hope of him turning the corner and becoming a solid NFL QB, they have to leave him in. |
