NFL | Justin Forsett retires    Wed May 3, 10:15 AM

Free-agent RB Justin Forsett (Broncos) announced his retirement Wednesday, May 3.

Footballguys view: A seventh-round pick of the Seahawks (2008), Forsett did a good job of sticking around in the NFL. His best season was in 2014 with the Baltimore Ravens when he had over 1,200 yards rushing and was the 8th-best fantasy running back that year.

Broncos | Justin Forsett considering retirement    Fri Feb 3, 04:18 PM

Denver Broncos impending free-agent RB Justin Forsett said he is considering retirement and will make a final decision in about a month.

Footballguys view: Forsett had a nice renaissance in Baltimore but he doesn't have much to offer the NFL at this point. That Devontae Booker didn't decisively outperform Forsett at the end of the season doesn't bode well for Booker's future.

Broncos | Justin Forsett totals nine touches    Sun Dec 11, 10:01 PM

Broncos | Justin Forsett familiar with offense    Sat Dec 10, 12:35 PM

Denver Broncos RB Justin Forsett said he knows about 99% of the Broncos' offense because it is the same offense head coach Gary Kubiak used when they were both with the Baltimore Ravens in 2014. Kubiak expects Forsett to make an immediate impact for the team.

Footballguys view: We've got Forsett as a 'what the heck' flex this week against the Titans. Watch to see if his role could grow in what Kubiak has basically described as a 'hot hand' approach going forward. Forsett's potential impact could damage the already disappointing fantasy stock in Devontae Booker.

Broncos | Justin Forsett will play in Week 14    Wed Dec 7, 02:58 PM

Denver Broncos RB Justin Forsett will be active for the team's Week 14 game and will share snaps with RB Devontae Booker, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

Footballguys view: There's no need to learn the system as Forsett has his best season under Kubiak in 2014 with the Baltimore Ravens. He can step into a change-of-pace role for the Broncos on Sunday against the Titans. Forsett's workload will be similar to the one RB Kapri Bibbs (ankle) received before his injury.

Broncos | Denver claims Justin Forsett    Mon Dec 5, 04:13 PM

Free-agent RB Justin Forsett (Lions) was claimed by the Denver Broncos Monday, Dec. 5.

Footballguys view: Forsett has had an odd year to say the least. He was cut by the Ravens after camp, but the team brought him back. They later cut Forsett and the Lions picked him up. The Lions just cut him last week, so the Broncos have now picked him up. Forsett had a career-best 1,266 yards rushing under Gary Kubiak when the Broncos head coach was the OC of the Ravens in 2014. Watch to see if Forsett can outperform a disappointed Devontae Booker in the Broncos backfield.

Lions | Detroit makes roster moves    Sat Dec 3, 04:33 PM

Detroit Lions DE Armonty Bryant was activated from the suspended list Saturday Dec.3. Practice squad WR T.J. Jones was promoted to the active roster. The team also released CB Johnthan Banks and RB Justin Forsett.

Footballguys view: Forsett has been a healthy scratch for quite some time now. He couldn't make a dent in Detroit with one of the most RB-poor teams in the NFL. We can't imagine any team thinking he's a late-season answer.

Footballguys view: Slay being out should help the cause of Stefon Diggs and Sam Bradford today. The Lions are missing Levy when it comes to defending the tight end making them one of the easiest matchups in the league for the position, which should benefit Kyle Rudolph today.

Lions | Justin Forsett could play in Week 6    Sat Oct 15, 03:36 PM

Detroit Lions RB Justin Forsett may receive some playing time in Week 6 even though he signed with the Lions earlier this week, according to head coach Jim Caldwell.

Footballguys view: Not only could Forsett play, but he might get the most carries (10 or so) this week for the Lions. Theo Riddick is out, and rookie Dwayne Washington is banged up.

Lions | Justin Forsett proving to be a quick study    Sat Oct 15, 12:41 PM

Detroit Lions RB Justin Forsett has done 'a good job picking things up', according to offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter, after signing with the team earlier this week.

Footballguys view: Forsett may be a quick steady, but the veteran RB is in an unstable situation. With Theo Riddick out, the Lions should use Forsett and a banged up rookie Dwayne Washington in a RBBC.

Lions | Dwayne Washington likely the No. 2    Thu Oct 13, 10:31 AM

Detroit Lions RB Dwayne Washington is likely to remain the No. 2 running back with RB Justin Forsett challenging to be the No. 3.

Footballguys view: It could be a few weeks before Forsett sees a significant role, if ever. We aren't enthusiastic about any options, with Theo Riddick an RB3, and both Forsett and Washington as low-end RB4s until we see how the carries actually split out.

Lions | Detroit signs Justin Forsett    Wed Oct 12, 01:08 AM

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Justin Forsett (Ravens) officially signed with the Detroit Lions Tuesday, Oct. 11.

Footballguys view: Forsett is a good all-purpose veteran who can contribute as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. When he gets up to speed, it will be interesting to see if he cuts into Theo Riddick's touches.

Lions | Justin Forsett signing with Detroit    Tue Oct 11, 02:15 PM

Free-agent RB Justin Forsett (Ravens) is signing an undisclosed deal with the Detroit Lions Tuesday, Oct. 11, according to a source.

Footballguys view: The Lions have Theo Riddick as their top back, and he's a fine receiver out of the backfield who can work well in space. Forsett now gives them better veteran depth behind Riddick. It will be interesting to see how he mixes in as a runner/receiver for the Lions, but we're not predicting much fantasy value here for the veteran.

Ravens | Justin Forsett's departure mutual    Tue Oct 4, 11:33 PM

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Justin Forsett's release from the Baltimore Ravens was a 'mutual' decision, according to remarks made by Forsett on the team's official website.

Footballguys view: It shouldn't take long for Forsett to land on his feet. The veteran back would be quality veteran depth for anyone out there in the league. However, his fantasy value would be incredibly low in what would most likely be a backup role. Stay tuned.

Ravens | Justin Forsett cut    Tue Oct 4, 11:36 AM

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett has been informed he has been cut Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Footballguys view: It was a mutual parting of ways according to reports. Forsett was a healthy scratch in Week 4 against the Raiders, so the writing was on the wall here. He was not effective as the team's starter, and the Ravens have Kenneth Dixon coming back from a minor knee injury this week. Dixon has the potential to be an effective starter, but he'll be splitting time with Terrance West upon his return. Forsett should find a new home quickly, but it will likely be as a reserve runner/veteran depth only.

Ravens | Justin Forsett's roster spot in question    Mon Oct 3, 05:50 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett was inactive in Week 4 and head coach John Harbaugh was noncommittal on Forsett's roster spot going forward. 'We'll see how it plays out,' Harbaugh said.

Footballguys view: Kenneth Dixon should be ready to play in Week 5. Forsett was a healthy scratch in Week 4, and we saw Terrance West rush for over 100 yards against the Raiders. This situation does not look good for Forsett, and he may not be able to stick with the Ravens as other backs on the team emerge.

The Baltimore Ravens have declared RB Justin Forsett, RB Kenneth Dixon, DE Matt Judon, OT Ronnie Stanley, CB Sheldon Price, CB Will Davis, DT Willie Henry inactive for Week 4.

Footballguys view: Terrance West gets the start and Javorius Allen is the backup today against the Raiders. West is only a flex play, but he will have a chance to get a stronger hold on the starting job with Kenneth Dixon likely coming back next week to make his bid for more playing time.

Ravens | Terrance West expected to start    Sun Oct 2, 09:27 AM

Confirming a previous report, Baltimore Ravens RB Terrance West is expected to start Week 4's game against the Oakland Raiders over RB Justin Forsett.

Footballguys view: West is still not more than a flex with Forsett and maybe Javorius Allen still playing a role in the backfield and the Ravens running game struggling to open holes. Kenneth Dixon should get a chance to carve out as large a role as he earns once he returns next week.

Ravens | Terrance West could take over starting job    Sat Oct 1, 12:48 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Terrance West may get the nod to start over Justin Forsett in Week 4 against the Oakland Raiders, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley.

Footballguys view: Even if he's the starter, West is only a RB4 for fantasy owners. We're all waiting to see Kenneth Dixon back in action in the near future. The rookie may be able to play for the Ravens next week.

Ravens | Justin Forsett splits the load    Mon Sep 12, 12:53 AM

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett carried 10 times for 41 yards in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills, and he added three receptions for 15 yards. He split the rushing load with RB Terrance West, who had 12 runs for 32 yards and two grabs for six yards.

Footballguys view: The RBBC is a two-headed monster at this time and neither RB is that exciting for fantasy owners. Things will get even more complicated when rookie Kenneth Dixon returns from his MCL injury in a few weeks.

Ravens | Justin Forsett rushes for 41 yards    Sun Sep 11, 05:09 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett rushed for 41 yards on 10 carries against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1. He also caught three passes for 15 yards during the game.

Footballguys view: Forsett is basically in a 50-50 RBBC with Terrance West, and that's with Javorius Allen a healthy scratch and Kenneth Dixon inactive. He might be worth a flex start against Cleveland next week, but Forsett is not going to be a consistent every week start this year unless a lot of injuries strike the Ravens backfield.

Ravens | Baltimore confirms RB committee     Fri Sep 9, 12:55 AM

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett, RB Terrance West and RB Javorius Allen will all see playing time at some point against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1, offensive coordinator Marc Trestman said Thursday, Sept. 8.

Footballguys view: And when Kenneth Dixon returns, he will also figure into this mess for fantasy football. If you have to play a Ravens back on Sunday, the answer is probably Forsett, but that answer could easily change once Dixon returns from his minor knee injury.

Ravens | Justin Forsett says he will start    Thu Sep 8, 12:07 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett said he will start in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills and is ready for 20 to 25 carries if needed. Forsett may be part of a committee at the position because head coach John Harbaugh said he would like to get all of the running backs involved.

Footballguys view: With the uncertainty around who gets how many carries, this whole set up seems like a mess. We see Forsett getting most of the carries, but have little idea what that will amount to. Start him as a middling RB3 if you have to, but keep your expectations low until we see how the carries shake out.

Ravens | Justin Forsett financials    Tue Sep 6, 10:51 PM

Updating a previous post, Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett will earn $6 million over the course of a two-year contract. Forsett will earn a $100,000 bonus if he eclipses his 2015 rushing yard total of 641 yards.

Footballguys view: Forsett got the same money that was left on his deal. Don't read too much into the Ravens decision to release him. No one could claim Forsett, so it was a mutually agreed upon move to keep more than 53 players effectively. Forsett should get the most touches of any Ravens back this week against the Bills.

Ravens | Justin Forsett re-ups with Ravens    Mon Sep 5, 11:08 AM

Free-agent RB Justin Forsett (Ravens) has agreed to re-sign with the Baltimore Ravens Monday, Sept. 5. Terms weren't disclosed.

Footballguys view: How Forsett fits into the RB corps remains to be seen. Many feel this was the Raven's plan all along and this was just a cost cutting move. Forsett could still play a major (main?) role in this backfield. Things will get especially complicated when rookie Kenneth Dixon returns from his knee injury in a month or so.

Ravens | Justin Forsett to play big role?    Sun Sep 4, 11:39 PM

Free-agent RB Justin Forsett (Ravens) is expected to re-sign with the Baltimore Ravens and play a significant role on offense in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills.

Footballguys view: Don't be surprised if that's the case. The transaction to get rid of Forsett was more of a cost-cutting move.

Ravens | Justin Forsett to be brought back?    Sun Sep 4, 12:40 AM

Updating a previous report, the Baltimore Ravens could re-sign newly released RB Justin Forsett later this week, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley.

Footballguys view: That seems to be the prevailing thought with beat reporters around Baltimore. Forsett was the only RB who would not be subject to waivers if cut, and that may have prompted the team to make the move. Buck Allen, Terrance West, and Kenneth Dixon will compete to establish a pecking order with or without Forsett. Dixon is likely to miss a month with a knee injury he suffered in August.

Ravens | Justin Forsett released    Sat Sep 3, 04:07 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett was released Saturday, Sept. 3, according to a source.

Footballguys view: A bit of a surprising move for the Ravens here. They are going with a group of young RBs instead of Forsett. Terrance West, Kenneth Dixon and Buck Allen will compete to establish a pecking order. The rookie Dixon arguably has the highest upside, but he's going to miss the first month of the season with a knee injury. West should be considered the lead back at this time. He's a big back who can make his living between the tackles.

Ravens | Justin Forsett looks great    Tue Aug 9, 01:31 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett looks like he did during his 2014 breakout campaign, according to Ravens head coach John Harbaugh. 'I see the same running back we had two years ago, in terms of his speed, his explosiveness, his vision,' Harbaugh said. 'He really looks good. I know there's a lot of talk about the other guys, but he's playing really well.'

Footballguys view: Message! Forsett's current ADP of RB34 (8.01 in 12-team PPR) is too low, but if he keeps impressing in camp we predict it will rise. In 2014, Forsett finished as a top-10 fantasy RB in standard-scoring leagues. Last year, a broken forearm held him to just 10 appearances. Savvy fantasy owners can scoop up Forsett and perhaps get RB2 value. The Ravens offense should look more cohesive with QB Joe Flacco healthy, plus the team is in year two with OC Marc Trestman.

Ravens | Justin Forsett expects to be bell cow    Wed Jul 27, 10:01 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett expects to hang onto the starting job and do the bulk of the work at the running back position ahead of RBs Javorius Allen, Kenneth Dixon, Lorenzo Taliaferro and Terrance West. The team also has RB Trent Richardson (knee) competing for a roster spot. While Forsett might be optimistic, he is 31 and the team is leaning toward reducing his carries.

Footballguys view: Forsett seems to have recovered from his broken arm, but that age is a concern to some. The veteran back has low mileage on his body as he didn't start getting a large workload in the pros until a couple of years ago. As the Ravens will reduce his carries a little we expect him to be more of an RB3 than the RB2 he might be if he got 20-25 carries every game.

Ravens | Justin Forsett the lead back    Tue Jul 12, 05:33 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett is still the 'clear lead dog' in the Ravens' backfield, according to Ryan Mink of baltimoreravens.com. The starting job is Forsett's to lose, with RBs Javorius Allen, Kenneth Dixon, Lorenzo Taliaferro, Terrance West and Trent Richardson lurking behind him.

Footballguys view: He's the lead dog and a fine all-purpose back--when healthy. Forsett missed the final six games of the 2015 season with a broken forearm, but he's back healthy and ready to lead this team on the ground. The veteran back is a good receiving back as well, so there's no need for him to come off the field unless he needs a breather. Fantasy owners are cool on his prospects for this year as Forsett has a current ADP of RB32 (7.10) in 12-team PPR leagues. There's a chance Forsett could catch 70 passes and finish the season as a top-15 fantasy RB, so get him at a value while you can.

BAL | Rookie RB Kenneth Dixon impresses with quickness    Sun Jun 19, 06:13 PM

Baltimore Ravens rookie running back Kenneth Dixon, a fourth-round pick this year, may have the quickest feet on the team according to BaltimoreRavens.com writer John Eisenberg.

Footballguys view: Dixon's quickness is a thing to behold, although he's so quick that sometimes he'll trip himself up when making multiple moves in the open field. He's a rookie RB we like a lot in dynasty leagues. Dixon is going to compete for a spot behind starter Justin Forsett in 2016. He's competing with players like Javorius Allen, Lorenzo Taliaferro, Trent Richardson, and Terrance West for a spot. We feel Dixon could be the primary backup behind Forsett as soon as this year, and he's got starter's upside for the future.

Ravens | Three BAL RBs up for just one spot?    Wed Jun 15, 01:00 AM

Baltimore Ravens RB Lorenzo Taliaferro might be competing with RB Terrance West and RB Trent Richardson for the No. 4 spot on the depth chart behind RBs Justin Forsett, Javorius Allen and Kenneth Dixon.

Footballguys view: We think Taliaferro will be fine, as West hasn't impressed so far in his career and Trent Richardson is Trent Richardson. No matter what, this isn't the relevant part of the backfield battle. Forsett and Allen holding off Dixon is the part you want to watch. We lean towards Forsett, but Dixon isn't far behind. No matter what, right now there is little clarity and if you have to draft today, we'd say none of them are better than an RB4 because of it, though we expect Forsett or Dixon to take the lead and then put up RB3 numbers at the very worst.

'I'm excited to get back this season,' Forsett said. 'Big expectations for myself and I'm just ready to get back at it and be 100%.'

Footballguys view: All reports have indicated that Forsett is on the right track. Fantasy owners should consider him a RB2 with upside in PPR leagues.

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (arm) is continuing to make good progress in his recovery from a broken arm last season and has already begun lifting weights.

Footballguys view: Good news here. Forsett is a good all-purpose back who can be at least a RB2 with RB1 upside for fantasy owners. The Ravens offense will have some different pieces in 2016, but Forsett should be the centerpiece of what they do.

Ravens | Justin Forsett will return    Thu Feb 25, 12:38 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (forearm) will remain with the Ravens in 2016, according to head coach John Harbaugh. Harbaugh also said the best running back will get the brunt of the carries.

Footballguys view: Well he'd better start looking over his shoulder with Trent Richardson in the - you know, we couldn't even finish that with a straight face. As long as Forsett is healthy, he'll get the carries. We do expect Baltimore to pull in some other talent - either in free agency or the draft - to supplement him and protect against another injury, but Richardson isn't that guy.

Ravens | Justin Forsett in 2016 plans    Tue Nov 24, 10:16 AM

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (forearm) remains part of the team's 2016 plans at the age of 31. 'I would expect Justin back next year full-speed, ready to go,' head coach John Harbaugh said. 'He's under contract and a big part of what we're doing going forward.'

Footballguys view: Forsett may be 31-years old, but he's spent years in the NFL with an incredibly small workload. He doesn't have the mileage that other backs his age have. We have seeing him knocked out for the year, but we're encouraged that he'll be ready to rock in 2016.
