Lions | Detroit adds several to practice squad Sun Sep 2, 07:41 PM
The Detroit Lions signed LB Alex Barrett, CB Michael Ford, WR Chris Lacy, S Rolan Milligan, QB Jake Rudock, LB Darnell Sankey and OT Dan Skipper to the practice squad on Sunday, Sept. 2.
Footballguys view: Rudock has been around for a couple of years as a developmental quarterback. He didn't make the active roster this year as the team went with Matt Cassel as the primary backup to Matthew Stafford in 2018. |

Falcons | Atlanta makes roster moves Fri Aug 7, 03:20 PM
Free-agent RB Michael Ford (Bears) signed with the Atlanta Falcons Friday, Aug. 7. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. The team also waived/injured TE Beau Gardner (undisclosed) and WR Freddie Martino (undisclosed).
Footballguys view: The Falcons need RB talent, so that's why they added Ford. The former LSU back has a good combination of power and instincts. He's not a dynamic runner, but we appreciate his vision and determination as a runner. |

Bears | Eight players cut Sat Aug 23, 11:18 PM
The Chicago Bears have released SS Adrian Wilson, DT Nate Collins and OG Dylan Gandy. The team also informed RB Michael Ford, WR Greg Herd, WR Kofi Hughes, CB Derricus Purdy and CB Peyton Thompson that they have been waived.
Footballguys view: Ford was not impressive this year in training camp or the preseason. The Bears selected Kadeem Carey in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL draft to be the primary backup behind Matt Forte. Shaun Draughn has looked good in camp, and he's essentially taken Ford's spot. |

Bears | Michael Ford well behind in battle Sat Aug 16, 12:12 AM
Chicago Bears RB Michael Ford is behind both RBs Ka'Deem Carey and Shaun Draughn due to inconsistency, head coach Marc Trestman said Friday, Aug. 15.
Footballguys view: Ford is no lock to make the final roster. We like his size and instincts for running the football. Ford was in a RBBC at LSU, but he's got an intriguing skill set with starter's upside. He won't play up to that potential if he doesn't start getting more consistent in practice for the Bears. |

Bears | Open competition for returns jobs Tue Jul 1, 10:20 PM
Chicago Bears WR Eric Weems, WR Micheal Spurlock, WR Armanti Edwards, WR Chris X. Williams and RB Michael Ford are all in the mix for the kick and punt return jobs this season.
Footballguys view: The days of Devin Hester are long gone, and the Bears need to find a dangerous return man to aid their special teams. It will be interesting to see which one of these players stands out the most in training camp. |

Bears | Probably will take RB in draft Sat Apr 19, 11:18 AM
The Chicago Bears probably will select a running back in the later rounds of the 2014 NFL Draft to compete with RB Michael Ford for the No. 2 running back job. The team could also add a running back or two after the draft.
Footballguys view: We were expecting this ever since Michael Bush was released. The Bears have a sleeper in Michael Ford. Fantasy owners of Forte--and even those who don't have Forte--should be interested in the second-year back. Ford has good strength between the tackles, and he can get to the edge at the second level of the defense. |

Bears | Michael Ford could compete for bigger role Wed Jan 22, 04:56 PM
Chicago Bears RB Michael Ford may be given the chance to compete for the No. 2 running back job during training camp next season. Ford will have to improve his pass blocking skills if he wants to receive an increased role on offense.
Footballguys view: An important note for dynasty owners here. Ford is a talented runner with a natural, hard-charging style. He can pound the rock between the tackles and is effective at picking up yards after contact. |

The Chicago Bears have declared CB C.J. Wilson, TE Dante Rosario, DL David Bass, OT James Brown, WR Marquess Wilson, RB Michael Ford, DL Zach Minter inactive for Week 1.
Footballguys view: Wilson could be an interesting prospect to track if Earl Bennett doesn't improve this year. He was a late pick, but was projected much higher before he quit the Mike Leach-coached Washington State team last year. |

Bears | Michael Ford shines in preseason game Fri Aug 16, 12:29 PM
Chicago Bears RB Michael Ford could provide some competition for WR Devin Hester as the team's return man after breaking three tackle on a 100-yard kickoff return. Ford could also make the team as the third running back with RB Armando Allen (hamstring) dealing with a hamstring issue.
Footballguys view: Ford is another LSU RB to monitor in deep dynasty leagues. We like Spencer Ware (Seahawks) as well and see both as natural runners with vision, balance, and burst. At LSU Ware and Ford were part of a RBBC and split time with Jeremy Hill (Fr.) and Kenny Hilliard (So.). |

Bears | Nine UDFAs signed Sun Apr 28, 02:22 PM
The Chicago Bears have signed undrafted free-agent RB Michael Ford (Louisiana State), WR Mark Harrison (Rutgers), CB Demontre Hurst (Oklahoma), WR Josh Lenz (Iowa State), C P.J. Lonergan (Louisiana State), WR Marcus Rucker (Memphis), DT Brent Russell (Georgia Southern), P Tress Way (Oklahoma) and CB C.J. Wilson (North Carolina State). Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Harrison is a physical freak at 6'2" 230 with a sub-4.5 40 and 38.5" vertical. He is very similar to Brandon Marshall, and he has been training with Marshall. Outside of Da'Rick Rogers, no undrafted wide receiver has as much potential as Harrison. |

Patriots | Working out three Mon Apr 8, 11:50 AM
The New England Patriots sent running backs coach Ivan Fears to Louisiana State University to work out RB Spencer Ware, RB Michael Ford and WR Russell Shepard.
Footballguys view: The Patriots could add a player like Shepard as an undrafted free agent. He originally went to LSU as a Quarterback and was ranked as the top athlete coming out of high school. Shepard moved to WR and never quite played up to his potential because of poor QB play. He could be an interesting developmental prospect for the Patriots. |

NFL | Michael Ford solid in broad jump Sun Feb 24, 09:47 PM
Louisiana State RB Michael Ford led all fullbacks and running backs with a mark of 10-foot-10 in the broad jump at the NFL Scouting Combine Sunday, Feb. 24.
Footballguys view: Ford is another in a long line of LSU RBs who aren't workhorses in college, but have an NFL quality physical skill set. He's on the borderline of being draftable in this deep class of RBs. |

NFL | Michael Ford to enter draft Mon Jan 7, 04:18 PM
Louisiana State RB Michael Ford will forgo his senior season and enter the 2013 NFL Draft.
Footballguys view: Ford wasn't featured that much this season after leading the team in rushing last season with 756 yards. He lost carries to Jeremy Hill, Spencer Ware and Kenny Hilliard this season, but Ford still has NFL level talent. He's likely to be a late round pick because of his lack of production, but could be a better pro than he was a collegian. Ford has good quickness, agility, and burst in the open field. |
