Tennessee Titans WRs Jacoby Ford and Clyde Gates signed Reserve/Futures contracts Thursday, Jan. 15.

Footballguys view: Both Gates and Ford are speedy receivers who can get open on deep targets. Only fantasy owners in super super deep dynasty leagues should be watching them.

Bengals | Try out Jacoby Ford    Sun Aug 31, 10:09 AM

The Cincinnati Bengals tried out free-agent WR Jacoby Ford (Jets) Saturday, Aug. 30.

Footballguys view: Ford has the speed to stretch the field. He can work as a reserve receiver and as a return man.

Jets | Reduce roster by six    Sun Aug 24, 12:06 PM

The New York Jets released WR Jacoby Ford, WR Mike Campbell, TE Colin Anderson, FB Chad Young, DE Anthony Grady and CB Ras-I Dowling Sunday, Aug. 24.

Footballguys view: It's not a good sign for Ford's future in the NFL if he can't make the Jets final roster. Fantasy owners in super deep dynasty leagues can feel free moving on from Ford.

Jets | Jacoby Ford the favorite for KR    Fri Jul 18, 09:49 AM

New York Jets WR Jacoby Ford is the favorite to win the kick returner spot over WR Clyde Gates.

Footballguys view: That makes Ford the favorite over Gates to make the final roster. They're likely competing for one spot, and the player who provides the most value on special teams will win.

Jets | Two WRs up for kick return job    Sat Jun 28, 11:37 AM

New York Jets WRs Jacoby Ford and Clyde Gates are considered the leading candidates for the kick returner job entering training camp.

Footballguys view: Both Ford and Gates can fly down the field. Neither have done much as a receiver during their pro career. We'll see which one wins the job in training camp.

Jets | Jacoby Ford dealing with injury    Wed Jun 11, 01:13 PM

New York Jets WR Jacoby Ford (foot) has been sidelined with a foot injury.

Footballguys view: Ford is a speedy wideout, but he's always hurt. The Jets need all the wide receiver help they can get, but Ford is in danger of making the final roster if he can't stay healthy and impress.

Jets | Coach high on Jacoby Ford, Jalen Saunders    Thu May 29, 04:41 PM

New York Jets special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey is high on WRs Jacoby Ford and Jalen Saunders as the potential kickoff returner and punt returner, respectively. 'The speed is there, definitely,' McGaughey said. 'Hopefully, I don't screw it up.'

Footballguys view: Both guys will have a shot at the return jobs. Ford may see more kick returns while Saunders is more of a punt return specialist. Ford has issues staying healthy as well. Saunders might be worth a flier late in redraft leagues since he could see some slot duties, but Ford isn't worth the roster spot and might not even make the cut for the Jets.

Jets | Geno Smith working out with receivers    Thu May 22, 06:21 PM

New York Jets QB Geno Smith is working out in Florida with Jets WRs Jeremy Kerley, Jacoby Ford, Stephen Hill and Greg Salas.

Footballguys view: Smith needs to get on the same page as these guys and, frankly, Stephen Hill desperately needs the practice as well. Kerley was the only reliable guy (when healthy) so it's good to see an attempt to keep up that chemistry. Salas and Ford are both guys who aren't guaranteed a roster spot so the extra work will do them good. We're cautiously optimistic about the Jets offense, if not sold on the overall fantasy value of most of its members.

Jets | Jacoby Ford did not lose speed    Wed Apr 2, 03:10 PM

New York Jets WR Jacoby Ford said he did not lose any of his 4.28 speed after LisFranc surgery. "I run the exact same [time] or faster. I'm that confident,' Ford said.

Footballguys view: Ford is a speed guy, but that's all he's been (when healthy). We'll see if he can show more refinement to his game now that he's got another chance in the league.

Jets | Sign Jacoby Ford    Tue Apr 1, 04:49 PM

The New York Jets signed WR Jacoby Ford (Raiders) Tuedsay, April 1. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Jets | Jacoby Ford, Richard Ohrnberger visit    Mon Mar 31, 05:16 PM

The New York Jets hosted free-agent WR Jacoby Ford (Raiders) and OG Richard Ohrnberger (Chargers) Monday, March 31.

Footballguys view: The Jets are still looking for wide receiver talent even though they added Eric Decker in free agency earlier this month. Ford has good speed, but he's struggled to stay healthy as a pro.

Jets | Interest in Jacoby Ford    Tue Mar 18, 02:29 AM

The New York Jets have shown some interest in free-agent WR Jacoby Ford (Raiders). Ford played for Jets WR coach Sanjay Lal when he was in Oakland.

Footballguys view: After a scorching second half of his rookie season in 2010, Ford looked like a future star, but injuries have robbed him of his playmaking ability. He could contribute to a Jets offense looking for more speed.

Raiders | Jacoby Ford practicing     Tue Aug 20, 02:30 PM

Oakland Raiders WR Jacoby Ford (knee) was participating in practice Tuesday, Aug. 20, for the second straight day.

Footballguys view: Ford is fast but durability has been a major problem for him as a pro. He's set to be the team's WR3/slot player behind Denarius Moore and Rod Streater. Rookie Brice Butler (San Diego State) is competing for that spot as well.

Raiders | Jacoby Ford shows off speed    Sun Aug 4, 08:03 PM

Oakland Raiders WR Jacoby Ford (knee) showed off elusive moves and pure speed in practice Sunday, Aug. 4, looking to be over a knee injury which sidelined him last week.

Footballguys view: Ford was known as a speed receiver when he came out of college (Clemson) in 2010 because he was a standout track star. Durability problems and inconsistency have plagued him during his pro career. We're not expecting QB Matt Flynn to stretch the field with his arm which makes Ford a non-factor for fantasy owners in re-draft leagues.

Raiders | Interested in locking up two    Sun Aug 4, 03:30 PM

The Oakland Raiders are interested in signing FB Marcel Reece and WR Jacoby Ford to long-term deals.

Footballguys view: It is interesting that Ford is on this list, because he hasn't been able to stay healthy since a sensational rookie year. Perhaps the team thinks they can get him for a discount. Ford displayed terrific raw playmaking ability in 2010, and the team might be convinced that it is still intact.

Raiders | Three don't practice    Tue Jul 30, 06:26 PM

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (foot), WR Jacoby Ford (undisclosed) and OG Lucas Nix (undisclosed) were not taking part in practice Tuesday, July 30. WR Conner Vernon, DT Stacy McGee and OG Alex Parsons suffered undisclosed injuries during practice.

Footballguys view: Murray needs to get healthy if he wants to win the primary backup job behind Darren McFadden. It's an important spot to know for McFadden's fantasy owners as the veteran RB is known to miss plenty of playing time. McFadden has never played more than 13 games in a regular season. Murray is competing with veteran Rashad Jennings for the backup job.

Raiders | Jacoby Ford leaves practice    Mon Jul 29, 02:38 AM

Oakland Raiders WR Jacoby Ford (undisclosed) suffered an unspecified injury during practice Sunday, July 28 and had to leave. No further details were available about Ford's status.

Footballguys view: An all-too-familiar headline regarding Ford. He showed in his rookie year that his speed would indeed translate to the NFL. Ford exhibited shades of Carolina Steve Smith's game, but hasn't been able to stay on the field for any extended period of time in the last two years. It seems like he's back on the injury track already, which is good news for Juron Criner and Rod Streater's chances of being a bigger part of the pass offense this year.

Raiders | Likely will give Jacoby Ford chance to contribute    Thu May 30, 03:12 PM

The Oakland Raiders likely will give WR Jacoby Ford (foot) a chance to contribute on offense this season if his foot injury has healed. The team could consider releasing him if he continues to struggle with the foot injury.

Footballguys view: Ford is a big play WR but he needs to stay healthy. The Raiders WR corps is full of potential but many players come with durability concerns. Ford will compete with Juron Criner for playing time behind Rod Streater and Denarius Moore.

Raiders | Sign Joshua Cribbs    Wed May 15, 03:53 PM

The Oakland Raiders agreed to terms with WR Joshua Cribbs (Browns) Wednesday, May 15. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Cribbs will be a return specialist for the Raiders. He's not quite 100 percent recovered from his offseason knee surgery but the team will monitor him closely as he continues to make his way back. Cribbs won't be asked to do much as a wide receiver on offense.

Raiders | Jacoby Ford 100 percent    Thu Apr 18, 03:48 PM

Oakland Raiders WR Jacoby Ford said he is completely recovered from his foot injury and will be ready to participate once the team's minicamp begins.

Oakland Raiders WR Jacoby Ford will receive an increase in his base salary in 2013 because of incentives in his contract. Ford will go from $630,000 to $1.323 million.

Footballguys view: Ford hasn't been able to stay healthy during the last two seasons, but he looked like a future star in his rookie year of 2010. This is a big year for his future in the NFL.

Raiders | Young WRs could be trade bait     Sat Dec 15, 09:06 AM

Oakland Raiders WRs Darrius Heyward-Bey, Denarius Moore and Jacoby Ford could potentially be trade bait in the offseason as general manager Reggie McKenzie looks to acquire additional draft picks and stockpile talent.

Footballguys view: The Raiders have a pair of promising rookie WRs in Juron Criner and Rod Streater. We'll see if they can move any of their veterans to add more draft picks.

Raiders | WRs could be dealt for picks    Fri Dec 14, 01:30 PM

The Oakland Raiders could decide to shop WRs Darrius Heyward-Bey, Denarius Moore and Jacoby Ford in order to obtain draft picks for next year's draft. WR Rod Streater appears to be safe as part of the solution and not the problem. WR Juron Criner won't be going anywhere, either. Streater is tied for sixth among rookie wide receivers this year with 28 catches and is sixth in yards with 429.

Footballguys view: Moore was considered a cornerstone coming into this year, but he has fallen out of favor with Carson Palmer and company. Any of Moore, Ford, or Heyward-Bey could have increased value in a better pass offense.

Raiders | Jacoby Ford lands on season-ending IR    Sat Sep 15, 10:26 PM

The Oakland Raiders placed WR Jacoby Ford (foot) on the season-ending Injured Reserve list Saturday, Sept. 15.

Footballguys view: Ford's foot problems the last two years have to make you wonder if he'll ever get his speed back. If you don't have an IR spot in your dynasty league, it might be worth dropping him.

Raiders | Jacoby Ford has same injury    Tue Sep 11, 07:38 PM

Oakland Raiders WR Jacoby Ford (foot) is undergoing surgery on the same foot that caused him to miss significant time last season. 'It's really basically the same injury that he had last year,' head coach Dennis Allen said. 'When he re-injured it this season there was nothing new structurally different from where it was last year.'

Footballguys view: Ford could be placed on the Injured Reserve and designated to return after six weeks.

Raiders | Jacoby Ford to have surgery    Tue Sep 11, 04:27 PM

Oakland Raiders WR Jacoby Ford (foot) is expected to miss "significant" time after having foot surgery, according to head coach Dennis Allen.

Footballguys view: Ford didn't have any re-draft value because of this latest injury. Now his dynasty stock has come into question. He's talented, but Ford has yet to shake the injury bug during his pro career.

Raiders | Derek Hagan, Darrius Heyward-Bey lead wideouts    Tue Sep 11, 01:54 AM

Oakland Raiders WR Derek Hagan had four receptions for 44 yards, while WR Darrius Heyward-Bey had three grabs for 43 yards in Week 1 against the San Diego Chargers. The two were the top two wide receivers in yardage with WRs Jacoby Ford (foot) and Denarius Moore (hamstring) inactive.

Footballguys view: Heyward-Bey continued to be inconsistent and didn't show up big against the Chargers coverage. Hagan is an effective underneath receiver but offers little after the catch.

Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen said Friday, Sept. 7, that he won't rule out WR Jacoby Ford (foot) for the Week 1 game against the San Diego Chargers Monday, Sept. 10. However, Ford missed practice Friday, and it's unlikely Ford will play.

Footballguys view: Ford has earned a reputation as an injury-prone player, and he has already advanced it this season before a regular season game has even been played. He's not worth rostering in typical redraft leagues until he proves he can stay healthy for a stretch of games.
