Jaguars | Gardner Minshew back in the saddle    Mon Dec 2, 02:04 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew was named the starting quarterback by head coach Doug Marrone for Week 14 versus the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday, Dec. 2, taking over for Nick Foles.

Footballguys view: Foles couldn't get it done against the Buccaneers, so Marrone is going with the rookie. Perhaps that has ruffled some feathers with Tom Coughlin, so Marrone may be coaching his last few games with the Jaguars over the course of the next month.

Jaguars | Gardner Minshew throws for 147 yards    Sun Dec 1, 06:32 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew went 16-for-27 for 147 yards, one touchdown and one interception against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 13 after replacing QB Nick Foles.

Footballguys view: We can't be sure if the Jaguars will play Minshew or Nick Foles next week, or who the head coach will be. It's better for the Jaguars fantasy options if Minshew plays.

Jaguars | Nick Foles struggles against Tampa    Sun Dec 1, 06:25 PM

Jaguars | Nick Foles benched    Sun Dec 1, 03:06 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles was benched during the Week 13 game and has been replaced by QB Gardner Minshew.

Footballguys view: Foles was terrible early, giving up the ball three times to Tampa Bay. He hasn't looked good since he returned. The Jaguars committed a lot of guaranteed money to him but he's their second best quarterback. We'll see who starts against the Chargers next week, but you should hope for Minshew if you rely on any Jaguars in your lineup.

Jaguars | Nick Foles just short of 300 yards    Sun Nov 17, 06:30 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles completed 33-of-47 passes for 296 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Week 11 against the Indianapolis Colts in his return.

Footballguys view: Most of Foles damage came with the game out of hand after the Jaguars run defense caved in. He has a great matchup against Tennessee next week and should be considered as a streamer and DFS play.

Jaguars | Nick Foles activated from IR    Wed Nov 6, 12:46 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles (collarbone) was officially activated from the Reserve/Injured list on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Footballguys view: Here we go! The Foles era is going to start...again. He was injured in Week 1 against the Chiefs and has been recovering ever since. Gardner Minshew filled in admirably but he now goes back to the bench. Foles was announced as the Week 11 starter on Tuesday.

Jaguars | Nick Foles to start    Tue Nov 5, 01:49 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles (collarbone) will return as the starter after the Week 10 bye.

Footballguys view: Foles is healthy and ready to go against a huge divisional game in Week 11 against the Colts. He's got a big contract and it was only a matter of time, regardless of the hype around Gardner Minshew. The Jaguars are in win-now mode as they try to make a playoff push.

Jaguars | Jacksonville to make QB decision during bye    Sun Nov 3, 02:42 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles (collarbone) is expected to return for the team's Week 11 game, and head coach Doug Marrone said he will take the bye week to decide whether Foles or QB Gardner Minshew will be the starting quarterback for that game.

Footballguys view: Minshew had been playing well enough for the Jaguars to string together a few wins going into this week, but Foles experience will probably win out.

Jaguars | Nick Foles expected to stay with team    Mon Oct 28, 04:31 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles is not expected to be moved before the trade deadline even with QB Gardner Minshew's solid play this season, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone has not yet thought about the quarterback situation. He doesn't need to right now with Foles still injured and Minshew playing good football. We'll see if Foles can get back to the field in a couple of weeks and if the Jaguars would put him on the bench.

Jaguars | Nick Foles to be limited Wednesday    Wed Oct 23, 02:07 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles (collarbone) is expected to be a limited participant during practice Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Footballguys view: We could be seeing the last few weeks of 'Minshew Mania' with the Jaguars. Foles is expected to be activated from the Reserve/Injured list in time for the Week 11 game. We'll see if Garnder Minshew still has the team excited about his play during that time.

Jaguars | Nick Foles expected to practice next week    Fri Oct 18, 08:37 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles (collarbone) is expected to return to practice next week. He is currently on the Reserve/Injured list.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles (clavicle) had a plate and screws utilized during surgery to repair his broken left clavicle and it was a clean, straight-forward break, according to a source. He will undergo multiple scans in the coming weeks to monitor its progress and could resume practicing before Week 9's game against the Houston Texans, if all goes well.   Jaguars | Nick Foles headed for IR    Mon Sep 9, 12:05 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles (shoulder) underwent surgery on his broken clavicle Monday, Sept. 9, and will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list with a designation to return later in the day, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Footballguys view: Just bad news for the Jaguars as they lost Foles early in their opener against the Chiefs. They'll turn to rookie Gardner Mishew as their starter while Foles is out for half the season. Minshew did not look uncomfortable when he was thrust into the game against the Chiefs on Sunday. He's smart and capable of working passes at all three levels.

Jaguars | Broken clavicle for Nick Foles    Sun Sep 8, 03:57 PM

Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles (clavicle) suffered a broken left clavicle during the Week 1 game.

Footballguys view: It's his non-throwing shoulder but Foles is going to miss some time. Rookie Gardner Minshew came in and played well for the Jaguars but they didn't have enough firepower to beat the Chiefs. We'll see Foles miss perhaps as much as half the regular season as the usual timetable for this sort of injury is 6-8 weeks. Expect Jacksonville to try and find a veteran backup but Minshew will start the next game.

Jaguars | Nick Foles injures shoulder    Sun Sep 8, 01:35 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury during the Week 1 game and has been ruled out.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles (oblique) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 6, and is not on the injury report for Week 1.

  Jaguars | Jacksonville's Week 1 injury report    Fri Sep 6, 03:22 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars OL Cedric Ogbuehi (hamstring) and TE Josh Oliver (hamstring) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 1 versus the Kansas City Chiefs. OL Cam Robinson (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 6, and is listed as doubtful. DT Marcell Dareus (elbow) was limited in practice for a third straight day and is listed as questionable. QB Nick Foles (oblique), WR Marqise Lee (knee), LB Quincy Williams (knee), DE Lerentee McCray (ankle) and LB D.J. Alexander (hamstring) each fully participated in practice Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.

Footballguys view: Oliver could play by the end of the month and has a chance to make an impact as a rookie. The team is probably going to be without Robinson, and his backup Ogbuehi. Frank Clark and the new defensive end group in Kansas City could have a big day going after Nick Foles.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles has reportedly 'shown good chemistry' with WRs Dede Westbrook, Chris Conley and DJ Chark Jr. in practice, according to the team's website.

Jaguars | Nick Foles ready for next chapter    Sun Jul 21, 12:27 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles is preparing for his debut season with the Jags and has been focusing on his diet along with his mental and spiritual health. 'I'm a firm believer that if you're putting the right things in your body and you take care of it, then you're going to be more resilient and able to handle all kinds of situations,' Foles said recently. 'Everyone can relate to this: When adversity hits in life, if you're feeling really energized and healthy because you've been getting great sleep and eating well, your body feels good, then it's easier to handle a stressful situation than when you feel like garbage.'

Jaguars | Nick Foles focused on perfecting footwork    Tue Jul 2, 03:07 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles has made it a priority to get his footwork right during offseason workouts, according to ESPN's Michael DiRocco.'If you go back to high school or go back to college, I always have talked about my feet because they are always (a concern). I'll always work on my feet. Playing for coach (Andy) Reid and coach (Doug) Pederson, it's always about rhythm. That's how it is always taught. They are great at the QB position. 'Flip' (John DeFilippo) was my coach, my quarterback coach with Frank Reich in Philly. They always harp on feet and target line, and anytime you can keep your feet under you and you work the pocket, you can buy some time. Football is not 7-on-7; 7-on-7 is a three-hitch throw, a five-hitch throw. Real football is when you have to work the pocket, move, get hit, do all of the crazy throws from bad hips and all that. But you want to always work on your feet and keep them moving,' Foles said.

Footballguys view: Almost everything with a quarterback (even arm strength) comes down to footwork. It sounds like Foles is trying to improve his footwork the best he can. The Jaguars are hoping Foles is a massive upgrade over former starter Blake Bortles. He should be and that puts the Jaguars in the mix when it comes to the playoff conversation in the AFC.

Free-agent QB Nick Foles (Eagles) agreed to terms on a four-year, $88 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars Monday, March 11, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. There is a maximum value of $102 million.

Footballguys view: The Jaguars wanted to move on from Blake Bortles, and that's why they're paying Foles like a top quarterback. He's proven in crunch time and the Jaguars are hoping they can make another playoff run with Foles running the show and the defense hopefully bouncing back with a better performance in 2019.

Jaguars | Nick Foles headed to Jacksonville    Sun Mar 3, 12:10 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB and pending free agent Nick Foles will sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars when free agency opens on March 13, according to league sources.

Footballguys view: Everyone expected this when it was learned that the Eagles would not place the franchise tag on Foles. The Jaguars appear to be the only serious bidder for Foles, and the two sides already have been working on a structure of a new contract after the Eagles announced they would not be placing a franchise tag on the quarterback.

Jaguars | Jacksonville the front-runner for Nick Foles?    Wed Feb 27, 02:06 PM

The Jacksonville Jaguars appear to be the front-runner for acquiring Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent QB Nick Foles when free agency opens March 13, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. He notes, 'A lot can change once free agency opens ...,' however.

Footballguys view: That sounds about right. The Jaguars can still play strong defense and run the ball when everyone is healthy...but they sure could use an upgrade at quarterback. Foles is going to be a free agent, and he should be able to make around $25 million annually from any team that signs him.

Eagles | Nick Foles will not be tagged    Wed Feb 27, 01:24 PM

Updating an ongoing saga, Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent QB Nick Foles will not be the recipient of the franchise tag, general manager Howie Roseman said Wednesday, Feb. 27.

Footballguys view: Foles is going to be a free agent and can sign with any team. The Eagles will still get a third-round compensatory pick (in 2020) for losing Foles to the open market. Expect Jacksonville to make a strong push for Foles in free agency.

Giants | Nick Foles interested in Giants?    Thu Feb 14, 07:46 PM

Free-agent QB Nick Foles (Eagles) is expected to 'keep tabs on' the New York Giants this offseason, according to NJ.com's Zack Rosenblatt.

Footballguys view: This Foles situation is one of the biggest out there this offseason in the NFL. The Eagles may franchise tag him to control his destination and get compensation for the veteran quarterback. A source with knowledge of Foles' thinking said the former Super Bowl MVP would 'probably' be interested in starting for the Giants if they were to release QB Eli Manning.

Jaguars | Nick Foles has mutual JAX interest    Thu Feb 14, 10:57 AM

Free-agent QB Nick Foles (Eagles) has mutual interest in the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Footballguys view: The Jaguars need a starting quarterback to replace Blake Bortles. Foles could be that guy as they want to win with defense and a strong rushing attack. We'll see if the Eagles let Foles go without getting compensation for him. Foles is set to be a free agent but the Eagles could franchise tag him in an effort to get something for him and control his destination. The deadline to franchise tag a player is March 5th.   Broncos | Denver checked in on Nick Foles    Wed Feb 13, 10:15 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles was a player that the Denver Broncos checked in on before they agreed to acquire Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco.

Footballguys view: The Broncos felt it would take too much to acquire Foles. Not only in compensation to the Eagles, but also in terms of contract dollars and length. Foles is set to be a free agent but the Eagles could still franchise tag him in an effort to control his landing spot.

Raiders | Oakland an option for Nick Foles?    Sat Feb 2, 06:04 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles might be traded this offseason, and the Oakland Raiders are a potential fit, in the opinion of 94WIP Radio's Elliott Shorr-Parks. New general manager Mike Mayock has already said Nick Foles is a franchise quarterback, although Derek Carr is in the midst of a five-year, $125 million contract.

Footballguys view: This would only work if the Raiders can trade Carr. The Raiders are smart to give off signals that they are open to another quarterback because they are in a prime trade up spot at #4 if a team wants to leapfrog the Giants and Jaguars at 6 and 7 to get their pick of the crop and also prevent the Raiders from taking their guy.

Footballguys view: Foles can still buy his way into free agency for two million, but then the Eagles can tag him, while knowing that they can't fit his nearly 25 million dollar salary on the tag under the cap. The chess game with Eagles and the rest of the league is just getting started.

Eagles | QB Nick Foles an unenviable scenario    Thu Jan 31, 12:47 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles is likely to part ways with the team this offseason, and some current teammates are concerned about some of his potential landing spots. 'I would hate to see him with the Giants just because I hate playing my friends, and if I end up back in Philly I'd have to play him twice a year,' Eagles DE Chris Long told NJ Advance Media. 'But I think whoever gets him is going to be very lucky. He's a leader. He's a franchise-type quarterback. The tough thing is we have another franchise quarterback, a guy who is homegrown and is going to be a great player for a long time to come.'

Footballguys view: It's clear Foles has greatly endeared himself to his teammates, which is a big selling point along with his postseason success. Jacksonville seems like one of the best destinations for him among the quarterback needy teams.

Eagles | Nick Foles heading elsewhere?    Mon Jan 28, 04:33 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles is expected to be released this offseason as there is not enough salary cap space for a franchise tag or a trade. Foles carries a cap hit of over $20 million. If Foles is released, the Eagles would be compensated with a third-round draft pick in 2020.

Footballguys view: Foles might not generate enough trade interest to justify more than a third round pick in exchange anyway. The Eagles have seemed to want to do right by Foles and allowing him to pick his new team via release would be the best move to achieve that goal.

Eagles | Nick Foles could be tagged?    Wed Jan 23, 01:36 AM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles would be eligible to be franchise or transition tagged and then traded if the team decides not to pick up his option, which ESPN's Chris Mortensen believes is a possibility as doing so would allow the Eagles to influence Foles' destination.

Footballguys view: If the Eagles don't pick up his option, then Foles can buy out of it...and thus he would be eligible to be tagged....and then traded. Eagles GM Howie Roseman loves to trade and he could get a premium pick for Foles. We think this is the most likely outcome.

Broncos | Denver to look at Joe Flacco, Nick Foles?    Sat Jan 19, 01:42 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco and Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles could receive interest from the Denver Broncos this offseason, in the opinion of 9News.com's Mike Klis.

Footballguys view: The Broncos now know that Case Keenum is not the long-term answer at the quarterback position. GM John Elway does not want to rebuild, so that means competing in arguably the toughest division in football the AFC West. Flacco has a big arm and could work in Rich Scangarello's Shanahan-like system...like he did under Gary Kubiak in 2014. Foles, a favorite of the Broncos brass dating back to his days in college, could find himself in the Mile High City to take over as the starter. Either move would likely mean the team moves on from Keenum.

Eagles | Dates looming on Nick Foles decision    Fri Jan 18, 01:05 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles might have played his last game with the Eagles, and the first key date in that process arrives Feb. 10 -- one month before the start of the new league year -- when the Eagles must decide if they're going to pick up Foles' $20 million contract option for 2019. If so, Foles has five days to decide if he wants to void the option.

Footballguys view: There's going to be a market for Foles once teams figure out what he could possibly had for. The speculation remains that the Eagles will tag and trade Foles. We'll see if that can happen or if Foles opts out. Stay tuned....and look for a team like Jacksonville to make a move for the veteran passer.

Jaguars | Jacksonville could pursue Nick Foles    Wed Jan 16, 03:00 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles is expected to be of interest to the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason.

Footballguys view: This moves makes a lot of sense for both sides. First, they need to find an upgrade over Blake Bortles which Foles could provide. Second, Jaguars new offensive coordinator John DeFilippo is already familiar and connected with Foles as he served as the Eagles offensive coordinator from 2016 to 2017.

Eagles | Nick Foles a Philly favorite    Tue Jan 15, 01:14 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles is a player the team would like to have return even though Foles can buy out of the final year of his contract if the Eagles pick up his 2019 option. 'We would love to keep Nick Foles,' Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the team's year-end news conference. 'You talk about a guy we've drafted here and grown incredibly close with. Certainly, as we go into the substance of those discussions, no question ... we'd love to keep him.'

Footballguys view: It's going to be an interesting offseason for the Eagles due to this Foles situation. Some out there believe they'll be able to tag and trade Foles in an effort to get something for him and not lose him with nothing in return. We'll see what happens with Foles but one thing is clear; the team wants Carson Wentz as their starting quarterback.
