Jaguars | Jacksonville could pursue Nick Foles    Wed Jan 16, 03:00 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles is expected to be of interest to the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason.

Footballguys view: This moves makes a lot of sense for both sides. First, they need to find an upgrade over Blake Bortles which Foles could provide. Second, Jaguars new offensive coordinator John DeFilippo is already familiar and connected with Foles as he served as the Eagles offensive coordinator from 2016 to 2017.

Eagles | Nick Foles a Philly favorite    Tue Jan 15, 01:14 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles is a player the team would like to have return even though Foles can buy out of the final year of his contract if the Eagles pick up his 2019 option. 'We would love to keep Nick Foles,' Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the team's year-end news conference. 'You talk about a guy we've drafted here and grown incredibly close with. Certainly, as we go into the substance of those discussions, no question ... we'd love to keep him.'

Footballguys view: It's going to be an interesting offseason for the Eagles due to this Foles situation. Some out there believe they'll be able to tag and trade Foles in an effort to get something for him and not lose him with nothing in return. We'll see what happens with Foles but one thing is clear; the team wants Carson Wentz as their starting quarterback.

Eagles | Nick Foles to start Week 2    Wed Sep 12, 10:48 AM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles will start Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, head coach Doug Pederson announced Wednesday, Sept. 12.

Footballguys view: This move is not a surprise. Carson Wentz is not ready to go and he may still miss more time after Week 2. Foles didn't play well in Week 1 against the Falcons but the team should have a better plan for him this week against the Bucs. He's a QB2 on the road in Week 2.

Updating an ongoing story, Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (knee) is still waiting on medical clearance, and head coach Doug Pederson said Tuesday, Sept. 4, it is why Nick Foles is starting Thursday night's season opener against the Atlanta Falcons.

Footballguys view: We're still playing the waiting game with the Eagles star quarterback. Pederson said Wentz is 'close' to getting that clearance, but he had to make the determination on the Week 1 starting quarterback Monday. 'It's still a medical issue,' Pederson said Tuesday. 'As of right now, me standing here, he is not cleared.'

Eagles | Nick Foles to start Week 1    Mon Sep 3, 11:44 AM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles will start Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons Thursday, Sept. 6.

Footballguys view: This move was expected. The Eagles need to give Carson Wentz all the time he needs as he continues to come back from the knee injury that shortened his 2017 season. He's getting close, but the Eagles figured to give him more time...especially since they open up the season on Thursday night against the Falcons.

Eagles | Nick Foles likely to play first half Thursday    Tue Aug 21, 12:52 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (shoulder) will probably play 'the whole first half' in the team's Week 3 preseason game against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday, Aug. 23.

Footballguys view: It's good news for the Eagles that his shoulder injury was not more serious. Foles will play a half against the Browns then we should see an interesting third-string/developmental quarterback (Nate Sudfeld) take over. If someone trades for Foles, then Sudfeld would be the no.2 quarterback behind Carson Wentz.

Eagles | Nick Foles exits with shoulder injury    Thu Aug 16, 08:54 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (shoulder) had to exit the team's preseason game Thursday, Aug. 16, against the New England Patriots due to a shoulder strain, according to the club.

Footballguys view: The Eagles were going to have a tough decision in Week 1 whether to start Foles or Carson Wentz coming back from a multi-ligament knee tear. This injury might have made the decision for them. If neither Foles nor Wentz are ready, Nate Sudfeld would get the Thursday night start against the Falcons in Week 1.

Eagles | Nick Foles returns to practice    Sat Aug 11, 11:54 AM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (neck, back) resumed practicing Saturday, Aug. 11.

Footballguys view: Foles doesn't need a ton of work in training camp or the preseason. The veteran has a known skill set, so the Eagles are just taking it easy on Foles as he returns to practice.

Eagles | Nick Foles dealing with spasms    Tue Aug 7, 12:34 PM

Updating an earlier report, Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (back, neck) is reportedly dealing with spasms in his trapezius and neck area. He has missed three straight practices and is not expected to participate in the team's preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 9.

Footballguys view: Foles is important as the potential Week 1 starter for the Eagles, so they will be as careful with him as they are being with Carson Wentz as he returns from a serious knee injury and surgery. Expect to see a lot of Nate Sudfeld over the next month.

Eagles | Nick Foles out of practice    Tue Aug 7, 09:23 AM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (upper body) is out of practice Tuesday, Aug. 7, due to upper-body soreness. He's unlikely to play in the preseason opener this week.

Footballguys view: Expect to see a ton of Nate Sudfeld, who will likely be the backup to Carson Wentz next year. Joe Callahan should also get a lot of snaps.

Eagles | Nick Foles sits again    Mon Aug 6, 12:20 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (undisclosed) was sidelined for the second straight practice Monday, Aug. 6, because of upper body soreness.

Footballguys view: The Eagles are working Carson Wentz back from the knee injury that ended his 2017 season. Foles took over last year and we all know how that ended as the veteran quarterback was named Super Bowl MVP. Wentz is on a good track to return in Week 1 of the regular season but the team is taking it easy on Foles as you never know if they're going to need his experience once again as their starter.

Eagles | No strong offers for Nick Foles    Sat Mar 24, 09:49 PM

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said there has not been an offer made that would even tempt the team into trading QB Nick Foles.

Footballguys view: Last season was the perfect storm for Foles. Unless Frank Reich, Doug Pederson and the Eagles offensive scheme was coming with him, nobody was paying a premium for a guy with more bad tape than not. He's in a great situation with Philadelphia, and probably the exact one he needs to be in.

Eagles | Nick Foles receives $3 million bonus    Sun Mar 18, 06:57 PM

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles is due a $3 million roster bonus on Sunday, March 18.

Footballguys view: The Eagles may not trade away Foles for a few reasons. First, he's playing at a cheap rate compared to other backup QBs...especially after winning Super Bowl 52 MVP. Second, the Eagles are best off keeping him if Carson Wentz gets slowed in his recovery from knee surgery. He's on track to play for Week 1, but keeping Foles gives them great insurance in case Wentz needs a bit more time.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles has been a trade target for a few teams this offseason, but the Eagles are telling teams that they are looking for more than the first- and fourth-round draft picks they received when they traded QB Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings.

Footballguys view: The Eagles are 'very open' to trading Foles so long as the price is right. They feel like Carson Wentz will be ready for Week 1 and they like third-string quarterback Nate Sudfeld. We'll see if anybody bites on that price tag.
