Bears | Leonard Floyd's option picked up    Wed May 1, 02:06 PM

Chicago Bears LB Leonard Floyd's fifth-year option was exercised Wednesday, May 1, according to a source.

Footballguys view: A first-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft, Floyd's best football is still ahead of him. He's continued to improve as a pro, but only has 15.5 sacks through three seasons. Floyd's natural pass-rushing ability could easily net him 10-plus sacks in a single season if he's clicking. A no-brainer move by the Bears here.

Bears | Leonard Floyd to undergo tests    Sun Aug 19, 09:12 AM

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy does not believe LB Leonard Floyd (hand) sustained a fractured hand in the preseason game against the Denver Broncos Saturday, Aug. 18, but he will undergo tests Sunday, Aug. 19.

Footballguys view: Floyd has been tabbed as a breakout candidate in the Bears defense, so this would be a blow to the team. Floyd might be able to play with a club, but hands are important to pass rushers, and he has also showed the ability to drop into coverage, so interceptions would be nearly impossible. Hopefully the team gets good news, as they face Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay under the lights to open the season. He was in a hard cast after the game.

Footballguys view: Floyd was a late addition to the injury report, and that's something that attracts attention. He says he'll be out there, but keep an eye on this. The Bears have a swarming defense up front and are facing a Bucs team coming off their Week 1 bye. If Floyd isn't quite himself, it could help the numbers for the Bucs offense.

Chicago Bears LB Leonard Floyd (neck) was released from the hospital Sunday, Nov. 20, after suffering a neck injury in Week 11.

Footballguys view: Neck injuries are always scary, especially when a player is taken off the field on a backboard the way Floyd was. The first-round pass-rusher is out of the hospital, but that doesn't mean he's ready to play. We could see him miss some time as he recovers, and we'll know more about Floyd's status as the week of practice goes on.
