Ravens | Owner endorses Joe Flacco     Fri Feb 2, 11:23 PM

Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said there are 'bigger fish to fry' than finding QB Joe Flacco's replacement, and Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun believes the Ravens won't be looking at quarterbacks in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Footballguys view: Flacco played better as the year went on, dealt with injuries on the offensive line, didn't ever get Danny Woodhead fully integrated into the offense, and didn't have players adding value on the end of his targets. He's not one of the 12 best starting quarterbacks in the league, but he's not one of the ten worst either. It doesn't sound like they will target a quarterback at 16.

Ravens | Baltimore could draft quarterback    Thu Jan 4, 12:12 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco may be mentoring a successor in the near future, according to head coach John Harbaugh. Harbaugh said the Ravens will 'for sure' be talking about drafting a quarterback this year with Flacco turning 33 years old in a couple of weeks. Baltimore has not selected a quarterback in the first five rounds of a draft since they took Flacco with the 18th overall pick in 2008.

Footballguys view: Flacco had about as poor a season as he's ever had, and there will certainly be questions as to how much more he has in the tank. We wouldn't expect a new starter anytime soon, but don't be shocked if the Ravens grab a quarterback on Day 2 of the draft.

Ravens | Week 17 game recap for Ravens    Sun Dec 31, 08:19 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco completed 25-of-47 pass attempts for 203 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the Week 17 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. RB Alex Collins ran 20 times for 78 yards and a score while adding 18 yards on two receptions. RB Javorius Allen tacked on 37 rushing yards on five attempts. TE Benjamin Watson had a team-high 61 yards on seven grabs. WR Mike Wallace was targeted a game-high 13 times, finishing with five catches, 40 yards and a TD. WR Michael Campanaro was good for three receptions and 36 yards.

Footballguys view: A late defensive breakdown on 4th and 12 cost the Ravens a playoff spot. Collins established himself as the lead back in the second half of the year, but the passing game had to strive to be mediocre this year. The Ravens are in an unfamiliar place in the Flacco era, eliminated before the playoff begin.

Ravens | Joe Flacco throws two TDs    Sat Dec 23, 07:53 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco went 29-for-38 for 237 yards and two touchdowns against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 16.

Footballguys view: Flacco came through in the good matchup despite the rain and missing Jeremy Maclin. He has another good matchup in Week 17 against the Bengals and has become a safe, high floor fantasy quarterback in the last month of the season.

Ravens | Joe Flacco accounts for two touchdowns    Sun Dec 17, 05:03 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco went 26-for-42 for 288 yards and one touchdown against the Cleveland Browns in Week 15. He also rushed for three yards and one touchdown on four carries during the game.

Footballguys view: Flacco also had a drive stall out inside the five on fourth down. He was his usual reliable self against the Browns with the help of veterans Ben Watson and Mike Wallace. Flacco is a safe low ceiling QB1 against the Colts next week too.

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco went 22-for-28 for 183 yards, one touchdown and one interception against the Green Bay Packers in Week 11.

Footballguys view: Flacco had one nice touchdown pass to Mike Wallace but didn't have to do much more than play it safe in this one. He'll have a more favorable matchup next week against the Texans and be worth consideration in 2QB and Superflex leagues.

Ravens | Joe Flacco takes part in practice    Thu Nov 2, 06:22 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (concussion) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

Footballguys view: Flacco has been average to bad this season, and has yet to break the 250 yard mark. He's also thrown just six touchdowns compared to eight interceptions. He hasn't been a good fantasy start in some time and even if he plays this week, he still isn't worth starting.

Footballguys view: Watch Flacco's progress as the week of practice goes on. Even if Flacco does play, he's not much of an option for fantasy owners.

Ravens | Joe Flacco practices Thursday    Thu Sep 7, 06:39 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 7.

Footballguys view: We aren't really sure how healthy Flacco is, and if we hadn't had a game removed from schedule would probably say that you should avoid him completely. However, with Jameis Winston and Jay Cutler out, you may be desperate enough to use Flacco. He has decent upside but the lingering injury, even if he's healthy enough to dress, is a concern. And other weeks we'd consider him a QB2.

Ravens | Full practice for Joe Flacco    Wed Sep 6, 07:31 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Ravens | Joe Flacco feeling good    Wed Sep 6, 11:31 AM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) said his back is feeling good Wednesday, Sept. 6, and he didn't receive an injection to assist with the recovery.

Footballguys view: Great news for the Ravens here as Flacco has missed the entire preseason due to this back injury. Head coach John Harbaugh said Flacco has responded well to the first couple of days of practice. We're not starting Flacco, but we are monitoring his targets to establish the preferred players for the veteran quarterback.

Ravens | Joe Flacco nearing return to practice    Tue Aug 29, 12:35 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) has resumed throwing and will likely practice in the coming days, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Footballguys view: The Ravens have been planning on this all along. Flacco has not yet been cleared to practice, but expect that to happen before their Week 1 game. The team has plenty of question marks, but they have no shot if Ryan Mallett has to start for them.

Ravens | Joe Flacco to play Week 1?    Sat Aug 26, 11:54 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) will be ready to play in Week 1, head coach John Harbaugh said Saturday, Aug. 26.

Footballguys view: It is still not comforting that he had to rest for the entire preseason. Back issues can be recurrent and limiting. This offense was already facing injuries at running back, wide receiver and tight end, and transition on the offensive line. Don't expect any Ravens to outperform expectations this year.

Ravens | Joe Flacco ruled out for another week    Sun Aug 20, 03:18 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) will not return until Sunday, Aug. 27, at the earliest, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley.

Footballguys view: The Ravens offense is already having to deal with injury problems at wide receiver and tight end, in addition to less than optimal situations at center and right tackle. Flacco back issue might be enough to fade this whole offense, with the exception of Danny Woodhead, who would benefit the most of an inability to establish a downfield passing game.

Ravens | Joe Flacco will not practice yet    Thu Aug 17, 10:28 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) is not expected to practice this week because the team is sticking to their timeline for him, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Footballguys view: The Ravens haven't signed another quarterback and Ryan Mallett hasn't been impressive so far in the preseason, so they must trust Flacco to be okay for Week 1. It's still not building confidence in drafting Ravens on our fantasy teams.

Ravens | Joe Flacco to sit out preseason    Fri Aug 11, 04:22 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) is expected to return to practice at some point during the preseason but will not play in any of the preseason games. The team said that Flacco is making good progress in his rehab and should be ready to play in Week 1.

Footballguys view: Flacco's good progress is a positive sign about his recovery. He won't play in the preseason, but the fact that he's going to practice should lead to him starting Week 1 of the regular season.

Ravens | Joe Flacco receives second opinion    Mon Aug 7, 10:35 AM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) received a second opinion on his back last week, according to sources. The results were 'positive for a slow return.' There's no timetable for his return.

Footballguys view: The Ravens haven't made a move at quarterback yet that indicates they expect to be without Flacco to open the season. That doesn't mean this won't affect his play or be a problem later this season. At least the second opinion didn't recommend surgery. The Ravens offense is looking less attractive by the day.

Ravens | No timetable for Joe Flacco    Sun Aug 6, 04:56 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) is feeling better every day but there is still no timetable for his return, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Footballguys view: We probably won't see him in preseason, but Flacco should be around in Week 1. This might be a convenient way for the Ravens to save face after reports surfaced of tension between ownership and the coaches/front office regarding Colin Kaepernick. If Flacco is fine by Week 1, they can say they don't need another quarterback and can get through the preseason with Ryan Mallett, Dustin Vaughan and David Olson. Flacco's ADP has dropped to 159 overall and he is the No. 23 quarterback coming off the board. He's dropped nine spots as of August 1, though all quarterbacks have slipped a little anyway. Still, he may end up a value if you grab him at that price and his back holds up.

Ravens | No danger of Joe Flacco missing Week 1    Wed Aug 2, 09:37 PM

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said QB Joe Flacco (back) will be back on the field long before the start of the regular season.

Footballguys view: The Ravens lack of action shows this belief isn't just a soundbite. We'll feel better about the Ravens offense once we see Flacco put a few practices together without incident.

Ravens | Joe Flacco's health improving    Tue Aug 1, 06:40 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) is feeling better in regards to his ailing back, according to a source. It remains unclear when Flacco will return to action.

Footballguys view: It's unclear when he'll return, but most reports indicate Flacco will be prepped to play in the third preseason game. Their moves at quarterback (adding/subtracting camp arms) can be translated as they don't think this back problem will persist into the regular season.

Ravens | Joe Flacco expected back soon    Tue Aug 1, 01:15 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (back) is likely due back 'soon' and will 'definitely' return at some point during the preseason, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

Footballguys view: No worries about Flacco long-term, and that's why the Ravens haven't rushed out to get a potential starting quarterback. Instead, they'll wait for Flacco to return and lead the way in 2017. Expect the team to monitor his back problem closely the rest of camp and the preseason.

Updating previous reports, the Baltimore Ravens are 'committing to a week of rest' for QB Joe Flacco (back) in hopes that will calm the symptoms down. He'll be shut down during that time and then be re-evaluated.

Footballguys view: Some reports are expressing confidence about Flacco's status while earlier reports speculated he could need 3-6 weeks to recover. We'll see about his health status after this mandated week of rest.
