NFL | Ryan Fitzpatrick calls it a career    Thu Jun 2, 01:03 PM

Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Commanders) announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday, June 2.

Footballguys view: Fitzpatrick as contemplating retirement for a few seasons, and he's finally decided to hang up his cleats. A seventh-round pick of the Rams in the 2005 NFL draft, Fitzpatrick ended up playing some good football although he bounced around to nine different teams in the NFL. He was signed last year to be the Commanders starter, but a hip injury in Week 1 ended his season. Now, Fitzpatrick heads to Amazon to play a 'key role' in their NFL broadcasts.

Washington Football Team QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (hip) will have arthroscopic surgery on his hip Tuesday, Dec. 7, that will end his season.

He is reportedly still dealing with pain and swelling in the hip and groin area and has been focused more on treatment rather than rehab and working out in order to return to the football field.

Footballguys view: We may have seen Fitzpatrick's last snap. Fantasy teams were denied the chance to see Terry McLaurin with Fitzpatrick's high risk/high reward passing style.

Football Team | Ryan Fitzpatrick not close to returning    Sun Oct 24, 09:16 AM

Footballguys view: Kyle Allen is the pickup in 2QB/Superflex leagues if you want to hedge against Heinicke getting replaced due to poor play. Fitzpatrick may not end starting a game for the Football Team this year if they have fallen out of playoff contention by the time he is ready to play.

Football Team | Ryan Fitzpatrick could return Week 7    Mon Oct 11, 11:23 AM

Either way, Washington moves forward with Taylor Heinicke as their starter and Kyle Allen as their backup. WFT head coach Ron Rivera says the team has no plans on adding another quarterback at this time.

Footballguys view: No surprise here. Fitzpatrick can start hot but can he stay hot? Throughout his career, Fitzpatrick will catch fire and then things tend to trail off. Fitzpatrick should start most games for Washington this year if healthy, but don't be surprised if Taylor Heinicke gets some starts if/when Fitzpatrick falters.

Football Team | QB Fitzpatrick Says Offense Will Be 'Tough To Defend'    Mon Jul 12, 01:07 PM

JP Finlay, from NBC Sports Washington, reports how Washington QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is looking forward to spreading the ball around the field in 2021. "The biggest thing with his offense, is we're able to spread the ball around to everybody and get everybody involved. It's going to be a tough offense to defend just because of all the pieces we have." Fitzpatrick said.

Footballguys view: Washington has a ton of weapons in the passing attack, and Fitzpatrick is ready to attack a defense at all levels of the field. He's the perfect type of quarterback to take advantage of the spread formation and the collection of receivers. Add in RB Antonio Gibson, a talented pass-catcher and reliable runner, and you can see how Washington can put up points. Fantasy GMs want a piece of this offense with guys like Gibson and WR Terry McLaurin as two top targets at their respective positions.

Football Team | Precision part of Ryan Fitzpatrick's game in 2020    Wed Jun 30, 02:34 PM

Washington Football Team QB Ryan Fitzpatrick was on target on 79.9 percent of his pass attempts last season as a member of the Miami Dolphins, according to Pro Football Reference. His on-target rate ranked sixth in the league among quarterbacks with at least 100 pass attempts.

Footballguys view: Fitzpatrick has taken his talents from South Beach to our nation's capitol. With Washington, Fitzpatrick's precision is going to be highlighted as well with some fine weapons around him. He's a streamer for Fantasy GMs who can fill in (likely admirably) when your regular starter is on a bye. You can get him late in your drafts with a current ADP of QB26 (14.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Football Team | Ryan Fitzpatrick for long haul?    Fri Jun 18, 01:53 PM

Washington Football Team QB Ryan Fitzpatrick could be a longer-term solution, according to head coach Ron Rivera. 'There's nothing that says Ryan Fitzpatrick can't be the guy for a while,' Rivera recently told the Washington Post.

Footballguys view: Fitzpatrick hasn't shown signs of decline in his play, but he is a risk-taker who could frustrate Rivera if he commits too many unforced errors. Taylor Heinecke has had a good spring, and he could present an attractive option if Fitzpatrick turns into a pumpkin.

Football Team | Ryan Fitzpatrick to open camp as starter    Thu Apr 1, 05:30 PM

Washington Football Team QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will open training camp as the starting quarterback but will have to compete for the job during the preseason, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

Footballguys view: That's the move that was expected when the team added Fitzpatrick in free agency. However, they will compete for the starting job and we expect the veteran to win the job....and then potentially lose the job like he has most other places he's landed. Fitzpatrick can be exciting when he's hot, but things can turn ice cold with him in a hurry.

Impending free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Dolphins) reportedly agreed to terms to a one-year contract worth $10 million that could be worth as much as $12 million with incentives with the Washington Football Team on Monday, March 15.

Footballguys view: Fitzpatrick will enter the season as the starter. He'll be pushed for the job by Taylor Heinicke but should be able to hold the youngster off. Washington was willing to give Fitzpatrick what he wanted as most teams look at him as a 'bridge' quarterback to a younger player.

Dolphins | Situation fluid with Ryan Fitzpatrick    Thu Mar 11, 01:50 PM

Miami Dolphins QB and pending free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick's future remains up in the air, but he's still a favorite of Dolphins head coach Brian Flores. 'We'd love to have him back, but this is a very unique year from the cap standpoint,' Flores said. 'Those conversations are fluid.'

Footballguys view: Fitzpatrick has thought about retirement but the latest is that he's looking to play in 2021. That means another team besides the Dolphins is likely to sign him as a 'bridge' quarterback. The Broncos have already reached out to Fitzpatrick to gauge his interest.

Dolphins | Ryan Fitzpatrick plans to continue career    Mon Mar 8, 02:54 PM

Miami Dolphins impending free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick plans to play next season.

Dolphins | Ryan Fitzpatrick leaning towards retirement    Sun Mar 7, 11:20 AM

Footballguys view: The Broncos have contacted Fitzpatrick as they are looking for veteran competition for Drew Lock in training camp. Things could change, but at this time it seems like Denver (and other teams in need of veteran quarterback help) will have to look elsewhere.

Miami Dolphins impending free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is not expected to re-sign with the Dolphins because he believes he can at least compete for a starting job with a team next season, according to sources.

Broncos | Denver talking to Ryan Fitzpatrick    Fri Feb 26, 01:07 PM

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, an unrestricted free agent this offseason, still believes he can bed a successful starter and has spoken recently with the Denver Broncos, according to a report.

Footballguys view: The Broncos are going to bring in competition for QB Drew Lock. That's if they don't do the impossible and trade for Texans QB Deshaun Watson. Fitzpatrick has played for about half the teams in the league, and he'd expand that list if added by the Broncos for the first time.

Footballguys view: Fitzpatrick is the team's 'closer' at the quarterback position. Tua Tagovailoa is the starter but when things get tight near the end of the game, the Dolphins have used Fitzpatrick instead. This week against the Bills, Tagovailoa is going to get a full workload.

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick isn't being shopped for a trade, according to a source with direct knowledge Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Footballguys view: Fitzpatrick was flat out awful in the season opener against the Patriots. He threw three picks and couldn't get the offense into a rhythm.
