NFL | Former teammate says Randy Moss has strong work ethic Tue Feb 14, 11:09 AM
NFL Network analyst Heath Evans, a former teammate of retired WR Randy Moss with the New England Patriots, said Moss' drive will not be an issue in his return to football. 'I trained with this guy in Boca (Raton, Fla.) every offseason - he is a nightmare to work out with. Many guys came in and out of those workouts, and they never showed up again,' Evans said. 'This guy knows how to get it done, he is rested. But it has to be the perfect environment (for a return) ... This guy is driven by guys around him that want to win. And so it is a very touchy situation: Where does he end up, and then how high is that ceiling depending on the quarterback, the coach and scenarios like that.'
Footballguys view: Talent has never been a question with Moss. Motivation is the number one reason why he fell out of favor with three teams in 2010. We'll see if he can find the fire to be great once again. |

Patriots | FB Evans would welcome a return to New England Tue Jun 7, 05:42 PM
Christopher Price, from WEEI.com, reports free agent FB Heath Evans would welcome a return to New England to once again play for the Patriots. "There are two places I want to play," Evans said. "Of course, money always plays a part in it, but New Orleans is likely the place where I'd like to go back to, with New England second, after that."
Footballguys view: Evans is a versatile player who should have a few options in free agency. He could stay with the Saints, go back to New England, or we could see John Fox coveting his skill set in Denver. |

New Orleans Saints impending free-agent FB Heath Evans has started to prepare for a lockout by selling every house and property in his possession to help create a much larger nest egg for his wife and two daughters, according to Karen Guregian, of the Boston Herald. Evans sold his home in New Orleans, where he's spent the past two seasons with the Saints. He also sold his longtime offseason home in West Palm Beach, Fla., where he's lived most of his life. Evans is currently renting a home, in addition to interviewing for jobs as a television analyst.

Saints | Optimistic about Reggie Bush Wed Nov 24, 11:26 PM
Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton is optimistic that RB Reggie Bush (fibula) will be able to return from his broken right leg against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 12 Thursday, Nov. 25, according to The Associated Press. Bush is listed as questionable for the game. If Bush does not play, FB Heath Evans could see more playing time with RB Ladell Betts (neck) out with a sprained neck.
Footballguys view: Bush still shouldn't be trusted this week, but this a great sign that he'll be a good flex play in PPR leagues for week 13. |

Saints | Heath Evans progressing Mon Jun 14, 10:59 PM
New Orleans Saints FB Heath Evans (knee) is progressing from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune's Robert Stewart. Evans is no longer afraid of re-injuring his knee when making a cut, but other movements are worrying him. Evans said, "It's now just kind of getting back to the functional movements and getting back to the speed at which I've got to make them. I don't really doubt the knee anymore. It's proven to be strong over and over again. Now it's just kind of getting back into that rhythm where I can move and function inside any given play."

Jeff Duncan from the New Orleans Times-Picayune states that head coach Sean Payton reiterated today that Evans' primary role will be as a blocker and not as a ball carrier. In fact, he pretty much shot down talk about Evans being the team's answer as a short-yardage ball carrier.
