| Footballguys view: Elliott should at least get some of the passing down work because of his pass blocking, and his inside running and ball security strengths should make him a logical short yardage back including at the goal line. Rhamondre Stevenson should still lead the Patriots backfield in snaps and touches, but it's hard to know just how much value that will take from him. He shouldn't be going in the third and maybe even the fourth round now, and once the season starts, we may understand that he should have fallen even farther. Elliott is rising from the late rounds to being a low ceiling/high floor injury/bye/emergency back, but his decline and the Patriots offense being in the bottom half of the league limit his upside. The Patriots gave 2022 draft picks Pierre Strong and Kevin Harris a chance to win the backup job, but neither was up to the task. |
