Bears | Knile Davis signed    Sun Aug 12, 09:35 AM

The Chicago Bears signed free-agent RB Knile Davis (Steelers) Saturday, Aug. 11.

Footballguys view: Davis is probably just a camp body to take snaps while Benny Cunningham is banged up. UDFA RB/FB Ryan Nall (Oregon State) is having a good camp and will be tough to displace if the Bears decide to keep an extra back.

Steelers | Knile Davis cut    Fri Sep 1, 04:33 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Knile Davis was released Friday, Sept. 1, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Davis is one obstacle removed in between James Conner and the full backup job. Fitzgerald Toussaint, Trey Williams, and Terrell Watson are still on the roster at the position.

Steelers | Knile Davis working on special teams    Fri Jun 23, 06:41 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Knile Davis worked on most of the special teams units during offseason workouts and was told he will compete for the kick returner job. He also received a solid amount of snaps at running back during the workouts since RB Le'Veon Bell was not present and RB James Conner (hamstring) was dealing with an injury.

Footballguys view: Davis is competing to be the third running back in Pittsburgh. He will need to stand out on special teams if he wants to get a spot on the roster.

Steelers | Knile Davis enjoying extra reps    Sun Jun 4, 08:50 PM

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Knile Davis has been seeing most of the reps with the first-team during OTAs with RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) and RB James Conner (groin) sidelined, and Davis said the heavy workload is helping him pick up the offense.

Footballguys view: Davis was signed to be a body for camp, but he's getting more work with injuries above him on the depth chart. He spent time with three teams in 2016, including two stints with the Chiefs. Davis has a chance to latch on with the Steelers as they don't have much talent behind Bell and Conner.

Chiefs | Knile Davis back in KC    Sat Nov 5, 02:30 PM

The Kansas City Chiefs re-signed RB Knile Davis (Packers) on Saturday, Nov. 5.

Footballguys view: You could see this move a mile away after the Davis was cut by the Packers. The Chiefs get nothing in exchange for trading Davis to Green Bay, but they do get him back....so there's that.

Jets | New York to sign C.J. Spiller, release Knile Davis    Tue Nov 1, 07:11 PM

Free-agent RB C.J. Spiller (Seahawks) is finalizing a deal with the New York Jets, who will subsequently release RB Knile Davis.

Footballguys view: That didn't last long. Davis was just added earlier on Tuesday, and he didn't make it but a few hours before the team decided to go in a different direction. With the Chiefs adding Bishop Sankey, Davis is unlikely to go back to Kansas City at this time. Spiller could work as a change-of-pace back or receiver out of the backfield for the Jets.

Jets | Knile Davis claimed by Jets    Tue Nov 1, 04:58 PM

Free-agent RB Knile Davis (Packers) was claimed off waivers by the New York Jets Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Footballguys view: Not a signing fantasy owners need to pay attention to. Davis failed to impress in Green Bay, and he's merely depth behind Matt Forte and Bilal Powell with the Jets.

Packers | Green Bay owes nothing for Knile Davis    Mon Oct 31, 06:10 PM

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Knile Davis (Packers) cost the Green Bay Packers nothing in their trade with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Packers had a window for releasing Davis at no cost.

Footballguys view: The Chiefs get nothing...but they could get Davis back. In fact, with RB injuries (Jamaal Charles, Spencer Ware) do not be surprised if the Chiefs bring Davis back.

Packers | Knile Davis released    Mon Oct 31, 04:47 PM

Green Bay Packers RB Knile Davis was released Monday, Oct. 31, according to a source.

Packers | Knile Davis does very little    Mon Oct 31, 12:51 AM

Green Bay Packers RB Knile Davis rushed three times for four yards and he had two receptions for four yards in the Week 8 game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Footballguys view: Drop him if you haven't already. The Packers just aren't figuring out how to get any production from their RBs. Aaron Rodgers led the team in rushing against the Falcons with 60 yards on six carries.

Packers | Knile Davis in the plans    Thu Oct 27, 09:54 AM

Green Bay Packers RB Knile Davis is in the game plan for Week 8, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

Footballguys view: There's nobody else there and what Ty Montgomery can do is different than what a more traditional running back like Davis can. That said, until we see what he can do here - and what opportunities he gets - we cannot recommend him as more than an RB4.

Packers | Knile Davis works on scout team    Thu Oct 20, 01:26 AM

Green Bay Packers RB Knile Davis worked with the scout team Wednesday, Oct. 19, while RB Don Jackson and WR Ty Montgomery spent a majority of the practice at running back. 'I did scout team, that was good to get my feet wet,' Davis said. 'I did special teams. It was cool. All day today, all day tomorrow, before the game. (I'll be) trying to learn as much as I can.'

Footballguys view: He's not ready and reports are that Montgomery is going to get the majority of the carries. He's an uninspiring RB3 play Thursday night. Davis is intriguing and could be a nice play in a week or two.

Chiefs | Kansas City received seventh-round pick    Tue Oct 18, 06:53 PM

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers RB Knile Davis was acquired in exchange for a conditional 2018 seventh-round pick ,according to a source.

Footballguys view: The Packers could end up giving Davis a large role this week. They are without James Starks (knee) and Eddie Lacy is banged up with an ankle injury. The Packers have a short week as they take on the Bears on Thursday night.

Chiefs | Late pick headed to KC    Tue Oct 18, 09:17 AM

Updating an earlier report, Kansas City Chiefs RB Knile Davis was shipped to the Green Bay Packers for a conditional late-round draft pick, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Davis was buried on the team's depth chart, and it seems like they've been trying to trade him for some time. A late-round pick was all they were going to get, but at least they got something for the veteran back.

Packers | Knile Davis lands with Packers    Tue Oct 18, 08:27 AM

Kansas City Chiefs RB Knile Davis was acquired by the Green Bay Packers Tuesday, Oct. 18, for an undisclosed package.

Footballguys view: Davis has been buried on the depth chart in Kansas City, but with the Packers he will be the primary backup to Eddie Lacy. James Starks is still likely to miss a couple of weeks, and that opens the door for Davis to be the no.2 back.

Chiefs | Knile Davis still on the block    Mon Aug 29, 06:55 PM

Kansas City Chiefs RB Knile Davis is still available for trade. He had been shopped earlier this offseason.

Footballguys view: Davis was shopped around the draft and is obviously still with the Chiefs. With cuts happening around the league, we don't see any team stepping up now to trade for Davis. He might be released if the Chiefs can't find any suitors.

Chiefs | Knile Davis improved as pass catcher    Tue Aug 2, 09:25 PM

Kansas City Chiefs RB Knile Davis has been working on his hands over the past few months, and feels confident he can be a threat down the field as well.

Footballguys view: Davis is a good bet to be released or traded for a late pick, so this kind of story can help increase his value to another team. The Chiefs have their backup RB situation locked down with Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West.

Chiefs | Knile Davis willing to stay in KC    Thu May 26, 09:34 PM

Kansas City Chiefs RB Knile Davis denies requesting a trade this offseason, but he said he looks forward to the opportunity to show what he can do on the field.

Footballguys view: Jamaal Charles is getting healthy while Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West got extensions, so if he did ask for a trade, we couldn't blame Davis. With that much talent ahead of him there's no point in having him on your roster this year.

Chiefs | Knile Davis could be moved    Wed Apr 27, 08:24 PM

Kansas City Chiefs RB Knile Davis is being shopped to other teams.

Footballguys view: Davis had a few shining moments in the past and his size/speed combination is rare, but he lacks the vision to be more than a backup on his likely new team. If the Chiefs can't get a pick for him, he might get released with three running backs under contract ahead of him.

Dolphins | Knile Davis among Dolphins' pursuit    Thu Mar 31, 02:47 PM

Kansas City Chiefs RB Knile Davis is a player the Miami Dolphins have expressed interest in. Davis is believed to be on the trade block. The Dolphins also expressed interest in RBs Jamaal Charles, Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware, but those talks appeared to go nowhere.

Footballguys view: The Dolphins are looking to replace Lamar Miller and while they believe in Jay Ajayi, they need better insurance behind him. Davis has played well in spots and we'd like to see what he can do full time. He would be a solid fit in Miami.

Chiefs | Knile Davis on the way out    Thu Mar 31, 12:39 PM

Kansas City Chiefs RB Knile Davis is involved in active trade discussions that the team has been working on for several weeks.

Footballguys view: Davis is the odd man out after Jamaal Charles, Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware. If the Chiefs can get value for him, they will. He's shown flashes of talent and could be an interesting starting back (and fantasy back) in 2016.

Chiefs | KC eager to see Charcandrick West    Sat Oct 17, 06:35 PM

Kansas City Chiefs RB Charcandrick West has the team eager to see what he can do in Week 6. 'Quietly, they kind of like West,' ESPN.com's Adam Teicher said. 'The term has been used to me, 'a poor man's Jamaal Charles.' They think there are a lot of similarities in how they go about business. Now, he's not as good as Charles, don't mistake that. But they're kind of eager to see what he can do.' Teicher said RB Knile Davis could get more of the goal-line opportunities because he's the bigger back. But the Chiefs might prefer West in every other situation since he's a much better pass-catcher, a more versatile runner and likely at least as good in pass protection. Teicher doesn't expect any running back to carry the load the way Charles did. But if one does emerge in that role down the road, West has a better chance than Davis.

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners are eager to see West as well. He's getting first crack at the starting job, but reports indicate that Knile Davis will be used as well.

Chiefs | Running back committee without Jamaal Charles?    Mon Oct 12, 12:45 PM

Kansas City Chiefs RBs Charcandrick West and Knile Davis both expect to split carries with RB Jamaal Charles (knee) expected to miss the rest of the season, and head coach Andy Reid said the two running backs will continue to split time without committing to anything on the depth chart. West had seven carries for 31 yards while Davis had just two carries for two yards in Week 5. 'I'm not saying who is or is not the feature guy, but we need both of them,' Reid said. 'Both their games are different. We'll just see how that goes. You saw both of them played today, so we'll get back to the drawing board on that and get it right.'

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners will be rushing to the waiver wire, and West should be the first back of the two off the board. Davis is a good backup, but he seems to be in the doghouse somewhat this year. If he can start to play up to his potential, then Davis is a fine fill-in back and at least a "what the heck" flex play.

Chiefs | Knile Davis still a backup?    Sun Oct 11, 06:39 PM

Chiefs | Knile Davis seeing more work    Wed Aug 26, 05:44 PM

Kansas City Chiefs RB Knile Davis has been playing more this preseason. Davis said he's been enjoying the extra repetitions as RB Jamaal Charles rests. 'This is what the preseason is for,' Davis said. 'Everyone knows who the starters are. Backups get the opportunity to show what they can do.' Offensive coordinator Doug Pederson said the one aspect of Davis' game that has stood out is his ability to catch the football. Davis said he'd like to continue his catching consistence and give the Chiefs versatility as a receiver.

Footballguys view: Davis is one of the best backup running backs in the league. He's the handcuff to Jamaal Charles, and fantasy owners should be looking to take him off the board in the 10th round. Even as a reserve player, we could see Davis get about 100 carries as a complementary back behind Charles.

Chiefs | Knile Davis has 100-yard game    Tue Sep 30, 12:02 AM

Kansas City Cheifs RB Knile Davis rushed for a team-high 107 yards on 16 carries in Week 5 and added one catch for 12 yards.

Footballguys view: This game got out of hand early, and the Chiefs turned the game over to backups. Davis was able to work behind Jamaal Charles, and he had a big day. We're not expecting that going forward so long as Charles is healthy--unless the Chiefs blow out another team again.

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles probable    Sat Sep 27, 05:10 PM

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (ankle) is listed as probable for Week 4. He was limited in practice again Saturday, Sept. 27.

Footballguys view: If Charles is playing he has to be in your lineup. The problem is, you have a Monday night game, leaving you few options (if you don't have Knile Davis) if he is deactivated. If Charles is out, Davis becomes an RB1/RB2 play but if Charles plays, he's too risky to play. Charles should put up top ten fantasy RB numbers - assuming they use him properly.
