Bills | Craig Davis unlikely to play Saturday Wed Aug 17, 01:29 AM
Buffalo Bills WR Craig Davis (chest) was unable to practice Tuesday, Aug. 16, and head coach Chan Gailey said he'll miss a week. Davis is unlikely to play in the second preseason game Saturday, Aug. 20, against the Denver Broncos.
Footballguys view: Davis was actually starting to close in on at least a chance to start opposite Stevie Johnson because the #2 job is so wide open in Buffalo. This injury will endanger his chances of making the team if it lingers through the preseason. |

Chargers | Buster Davis to be released? Sat Apr 30, 02:35 AM

Chargers | Buster Davis is likely done in San Diego Fri Jan 7, 11:20 PM
San Diego Chargers WR Buster Davis is not likely to be back in 2011, reports Kevin Acee, of The San Diego Union-Tribune. He is owed $840,000 in salary in 2011, but he has been unable to show much consistency due to an assortment of injuries.
Footballguys view: No surprise here. Buster Davis never lived up to his potential after being a first-round pick out of LSU. Injuries and inconsistencies hampered his game, but perhaps he can go somewhere else and get a fresh start. |

The San Diego Chargers placed WR Buster Davis (ribs) on the Injured Reserve list Tuesday, Nov. 2, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Chargers | Buster Davis on the bubble of making team Sat Aug 7, 03:20 AM
San Diego Chargers WR Buster Davis worked with the first-team offense for three consecutive sessions Friday, Aug. 6, but he is still on the bubble to make the team, reports CBSSports.com. Davis said, "I really don't dwell on that part. The only thing I can do is take care of each day on the practice field up to the preseason games and then take advantage of those times that I get into the game."
Footballguys view: Davis has to stay healthy to make the team. He hasn't been able to do for any sustained period of time in the past, so while he has the upside to be worth a pickup in deep dynasty leagues, be ready to move on if the Chargers are too. |

Chargers | Craig Davis doing well at camp Fri Aug 6, 01:16 PM
San Diego Chargers head coach Norv Turner said WR Craig Davis has performed well so far during training camp and hopes Davis will be able to stay healthy this season, according to Chargers.com's Christopher Smith. 'Buster's had a great offseason. He's picked up where he left off. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he'll stay healthy. That's been the biggest thing that's held him back. He's got the toughness, he's got the size, he's got the speed and he's off to a great start,' Turner said.

Chargers | Craig Davis sits Thursday Fri Aug 6, 03:45 AM
San Diego Chargers WR Craig Davis (hamstring) did not practice Thursday, Aug 5, during team drills, reports Kevin Acee, of The San Diego Union-Tribune. He took the day off as a precaution so he doesn't end up missing extended time. QB Philip Rivers said Davis has been very steady during training camp and during the offseason.
Footballguys view: While this isn't technically an injury, it does sap Davis of some of the good momentum he has built up as he hasn't been able to stay healthy for any sustained period of time so far in his career. |

Chargers | Craig Davis may be ready to bust out Mon Aug 2, 07:35 PM
The San Diego Chargers believe WR Craig Davis may be ready to break out, reports ESPN.com's Bill Williamson. Davis has been an early star during training camp. Head coach Norv Turner said, "He has been tremendous. He's really stood out and done a nice job. He has a lot of confidence and he's healthy."
Footballguys view: Vincent Jackson's suspension creates opportunity not only for Malcom Floyd and Legedu Naanee, but Buster Davis will also get work in three-wide sets. He can prove that it is too early to call this 2007 first-round pick a bust. |

Chargers | Craig Davis to push for larger role Sat Jul 24, 02:29 PM
San Diego Chargers WR Craig Davis is going to push for an increased role within the offense during training camp, reports Christopher Smith, of Chargers.com. Head coach Norv Turner said he has improved every year.
Footballguys view: It's never been a question of ability with Craig 'Buster' Davis. He's very talented, but his career has been marred by injuries and inconsistencies. We'll see if he can finally start to live up to expectations in 2010. |

Chargers | Buster Davis unlikely to benefit from Jackson's absence Sat Jun 26, 05:10 PM
Michael Blunda, from ProFootballWeekly.com, reports since the Chargers drafted him in the first round in 2007, WR Buster Davis has often earned rave reviews for his work in practice. The only problem: His dazzling talent has never carried over into game action, as he has just 30 catches for 299 yards and one touchdown in three seasons. The hype machine is in full gear again this offseason, with Davis shining in OTAs and minicamps, making one spectacular grab after another. As usual, though, it's likely too early to point to this as his breakout year.
Footballguys view: Davis has been very disappointing during his pro career after being a first-round pick out of LSU a few years ago. We'll see if he can stay healthy and impress coaches enough to stick around in 2010. |

Chargers | Davis to compete with Reed Sun Jun 13, 09:36 PM
CBSSports.com reports Chargers coach Norv Turner said Friday that WR Josh Reed will compete with Craig Davis for reps behind starters Vincent Jackson and Malcom Floyd. "That's exciting to me, No. 1 for him to be available, and No. 2 for him to want to be here," Turner said of Reed. "He and (Davis) are similar."
Footballguys view: Both former LSU receivers have failed to live up to expectations during their pro careers, but Davis has a much higher upside. We're not expecting much from Reed or Davis this season. |

Kevin Acee, from the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports Buster Davis, who suffered a concussion in minicamp, worked at receiver and punt returner. He is slated to be the No. 2 returner.
Footballguys view: The former first-round pick has failed to live up to expectations during his pro career because of injuries and inconsistencies. He's competing for playing time behind Vincent Jackson and Malcom Floyd, and has the skill set to be a decent slot receiver. |

Chargers | Too soon to call Buster Davis a bust? Sun May 23, 02:33 PM
Kevin Acee, from the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports bothered by nagging injuries in his legs from the time he first wore lightning bolts, Craig 'Buster' Davis in his first two seasons caught 24 passes for 247 yards and one touchdown. The hamstring and quad and knee pain that most often would allow him to practice two days at a time and then have to rest during his first training camps and kept him from playing in almost half the Chargers' games in 2007 and '08 were the effects of his trying to play through a groin injury suffered in his final college game and aggravated during the pre-draft process. "Since the groin has gotten better, everything around it has gotten stronger," said Davis, who because of the groin was unable to properly work out his legs before last year. "I don't have pains in my knees anymore. Everyone talks about the nicks and nacks I've had, but it was residual from the groin." He got healthy last season, but with an abundance of receivers on the roster and him having been unable to prove himself, Davis was inactive the first 15 games of the season. In an essentially meaningless regular-season finale against Washington, as many starters rested, Davis caught six passes for 52 yards. This offseason, with Kassim Osgood gone, Vincent Jackson and Malcom Floyd skipping offseason workouts because of their contract dissatisfaction and Legedu Naanee still rehabbing from foot surgery, Davis is the only veteran receiver at Chargers Park.
Footballguys view: Injuries have derailed the former first-rounders career, but he could get back on track this season and finally play up to his potential. Coming out of LSU Davis was highly touted, and many in the scouting community compared him to Isaac Bruce because of his strong hands and route running ability. With so many veteran receivers missing camp, it's opening an opportunity for Davis to show off his skill set. |
