New York Jets WR Jeremy Kerley and TE Jeff Cumberland could be among the next victims of New York's cuts. Kerley's role was diminished in 2015 and the Jets could increase their savings to $2.5 million if Kerley is cut before June 1. Cumberland's playing time was lessened last year and he had no signing bonus on his contract, which could make him an easier cut.

Jets | Jace Amaro on hot seat?    Sun Aug 23, 06:21 PM

New York Jets TE Jace Amaro may be on the hot seat, as he is listed as the third tight end on the official depth chart behind Jeff Cumberland and Kellen Davis.

Footballguys view: Amaro's development has stalled out despite adding an offensive coordinator this offseason in Chan Gailey who can scheme to his strengths. His dynasty stock and NFL fortunes are looking dim at this moment.

Jets | NYJ to have tight end platoon    Thu May 21, 05:50 PM

New York Jets TEs Jeff Cumberland and Jace Amaro will both start this season, according to head coach Todd Bowles. Bowles said Cumberland would be lined up in the 'Y' position while Amaro would play the H-back and fullback positions.

Footballguys view: The 'Y' tight end is the more traditional (blocking) role. The 'H' tight end is the guy who will be moved around the field to create mismatches. Amaro has the athleticism to be a weapon in the new Chan Gailey offense. He's going undrafted right now in 12-team PPR leagues, but he's someone who should be on your waiver wire speed dial.

Jets | Will use two tight ends    Thu May 21, 02:58 PM

New York Jets coach Todd Bowles plans to use a package with two tight ends, including TE Jeff Cumberland and TE Jace Amaro. Cumberland will be a traditional tight end and Amaro will line up in a halfback-style position.

Footballguys view: In other words, if you are inclined to take one of the two in fantasy, Amaro is your guy. Cumberland will get some targets, but mostly be a blocker type while Amaro will be more of a 'move' tight end, a position much better suited to fantasy production. Neither is currently being drafted, which makes them ideal free agent acquisitions. That could change this summer, and Amaro in particular could end up a strong TE2, if quarterback Geno Smith can progress this season.
