Ravens | Dalvin Cook to active roster    Thu Jan 18, 08:45 AM

Baltimore Ravens RB Dalvin Cook was signed to the active roster Thursday, Jan. 18.

Footballguys view: The Ravens moved on from veteran Melvin Gordon and added Cook. Now, Cook is on the active roster and could get some snaps behind Gus Edwards. Cook is not the player he used to be, but he's a solid veteran who can contribute on all three downs.

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) was upgraded to a limited practice on Friday, Dec. 1, but has been ruled out for Week 13 versus the Atlanta Falcons. RB Israel Abanikanda (illness) and RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) were limited in practice on Friday and are listed as questionable. RB Breece Hall (hamstring), TE Kenny Yeboah (hamstring) and OG Wes Schweitzer (calf) practiced in full on Friday but are also listed as questionable. OT Mekhi Becton (ankle, knee), CB Michael Carter II (hamstring), DB Justin Hardee (hamstring), DE Will McDonald (shoulder), OT Billy Turner (finger), LB Sam Eguavoen (hip) and LB Quincy Williams (knee) practiced in full on Friday and have been removed from the injury report.

Footballguys view: Hall is likely to play despite the questionable tag. He should be in lineups against the Falcons as one of the only reliable ways to move the ball for the quarterback play challenged Jets.

Jets | Dalvin Cook plays just 11 snaps    Mon Oct 9, 10:58 AM

New York Jets RB Dalvin Cook played in just 11 snaps in Week 5.

Footballguys view: With Breece Hall going wild against the Broncos, there wasn't much left for Cook in the Jets' backfield. Hall is no longer on a snap count, so the near 50-50 split the two shared in the first four games may be no longer. Fantasy GMs in deeper leagues might still be holding onto Cook, but if you're in a shallow league and need help you might be moving on.

Jets | No restrictions for Dalvin Cook    Thu Sep 7, 12:44 PM

New York Jets RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) has fully recovered from offseason shoulder surgery and will be a 'full-go' for practice leading up to the team's Week 1 game against the New York Jets.

Footballguys view: The Bills and Jets kick off the Monday Night Football slate for the 2023 season. It's a huge game for both teams as they try to establish early-season dominance in the AFC East. Having Cook out there is huge for the Jets, and he should finish with at least flex-worthy numbers for Fantasy GMs who start him in Week 1.

Jets | Dalvin Cook a full go    Thu Sep 7, 12:11 PM

New York Jets RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) is fully recovered from offseason shoulder surgery and is expected to be without limitations going into Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills, according to a source Thursday, Sept. 7.

Footballguys view: Good news for the Jets here. Cook is there to take on a big part of what the Jets want to do on offense. He's a flex-worthy play who could produce more like an RB2 with upside for Fantasy GMs.

Jets | Dalvin Cook practicing    Tue Aug 29, 12:38 PM

New York Jets RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) is practicing for the first time Tuesday, Aug. 29, and will be ready for Week 1.

Footballguys view: Cook has some time to ramp up for the season opener. The Jets will use him as their primary back, but second-year pro Breece Hall should get some action as well. Fantasy GMs are looking for Cook to produce as an RB1, which means most weeks he will be in your lineup provided he can stay healthy. The Jets are at home in what could be a 'statement' game against the Bills on Monday night in Week 1.

Jets | Dalvin Cook, NYJ agree to terms    Tue Aug 15, 12:24 AM

Free-agent RB Dalvin Cook (Vikings) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the New York Jets Monday, Aug. 14, worth as much as $8.6 million, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Most of that money is guaranteed so the Jets are going to want to get something back on their investment. Cook isn't a mere backup to Breece Hall, but he's also not ready to practice right away. Hall was just activated from the PUP list, so it's possible the Jets keep four running backs and have Michael Carter or Zonovan Knight play a role in at least Week 1. Hall's ADP should drop, but it's not clear that Cook's should significantly rise. This team has some offensive line questions and this backfield split could be fluid and difficult to project week-to-week. It helps a team in a win now window, but hurts fantasy players trying to rely on members of this backfield.

Jets | Dalvin Cook back in New York    Mon Jul 31, 04:23 AM

Free-agent RB Dalvin Cook (Vikings) visited with the New York Jets Sunday, July 30, taking a physical, meeting with coaches and watching practice.

Footballguys view: It seems like only a matter of time before Cook joins QB Aaron Rodgers. If/when that happens, Cook will be in line to be the no.1 back for the Jets. That means second-year pro Breece Hall will be working in a reserve role when he's healthy.

Jets | Dalvin Cook expected to land with Jets    Fri Jul 28, 11:07 AM

Free-agent RB Dalvin Cook (Vikings) is expected to sign with the New York Jets this weekend, according to insiders around the league.

Footballguys view: Time to adjust Breece Hall's ranking downward, but it might not be time to adjust Cook's ranking upward from the 7th-8th round range it settled at after his release. This could help Hall in the long run, as it will allow the Jets to bring him along slowly less than a year removed from an ACL tear, but in the short term, you can't count on him as a Week 1 starter for your fantasy team or the Jets.

Free-agent RB Dalvin Cook (Vikings) is meeting with the New York Jets Thursday, July 27.

NFL | Dalvin Cook offered accuser money    Fri Jul 21, 12:09 PM

Free-agent RB Dalvin Cook (Vikings) offered a former girlfriend, who has accused him of domestic violence, $1 million to clear him of wrongdoing in the case. This revelation came from a now-sealed filing by Gracelyn Trimble's attorney. The document was filed in opposition to Cook's request to bar testimony at trial of his cash settlement offers of $800,000 and then $1 million. Cook's initial offer of $800,000 came with a requirement that Trimble sign a sworn affidavit denying abuse claims, the document said. But Trimble has already testified under oath that Cook physically abused her. The $1 million offer required Trimble to send a letter - not sworn testimony - to the NFL absolving Cook of wrongdoing.

Footballguys view: Cook is still waiting to find a new team, but he's scheduled to go to trial for this in a Dakota County Court next year. Once the legal process has been exhausted, the league will decide on whether or not to take action.

NFL | Dalvin Cook among most consistent    Mon Jul 17, 12:22 AM

Free-agent RB Dalvin Cook (Vikings) is one of two running backs with more than 1,000 rushing yards in each of the past four seasons.

Footballguys view: Cook is no doubt a top-tier running back, but right now he doesn't have a team. That could change with training camp less than two weeks away. Don't be surprised if Cook lands with a team like the Dolphins or the Jets to be the featured back. When he gets a new team, Cook should be projected for another 1,000-yard season.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook has offer from Minnesota    Thu Jul 13, 10:20 AM

Free-agent RB Dalvin Cook (Vikings) has a $7 million-per-year offer from the Minnesota Vikings on the table.

Footballguys view: Esiason said that Cook has not accepted it, and he speculated that the veteran running back may not want to go back to the Vikings. The Jets and the Dolphins are the two teams that seem to be most interested, and this $7 million number could get a bidding war started. Cook is being patient, but we imagine he'll find a new home right before or during training camp later this summer.

Dolphins | Decision on RB Cook To Wait    Sun Jul 9, 05:20 PM

The Miami Dolphins have extended an offer to free agent RB Dalvin Cook, but a decision on where he lands could wait until closer to training camp per Josh Alper from ProFootballTalk.com.

Footballguys view: Reports have indicated that Cook was less than blown away by the Dolphins' offer. The Jets have also emerged as a potential landing spot where Cook could lead the way with QB Aaron Rodgers slinging the rock. Other teams like the Broncos could be a possibility, but right now Cook is staying patient and weighing all options. He should be in camp with a team, but when (and which team) is currently up in the air.

Dolphins | Dalvin Cook not a fan of Miami's offer    Sat Jul 8, 02:01 PM

Free-agent RB Dalvin Cook (Vikings) is 'not willing to accept' the Miami Dolphins' contract offer, ESPN's Jeff Darlington reported on Saturday, July 8.

Footballguys view: Cook to the Dolphins is something everyone under the sun has been speculating. That's not going to happen unless the Dolphins offer more money or if Cook caves on the price he wants. At this time, it seems like the New York Jets may be moving into the driver's seat when it comes to landing Cook. We should see him sign some time in training camp.

Jets | NYJ has done homework on Dalvin Cook    Thu Jul 6, 08:10 AM

Free-agent RB Dalvin Cook (Vikings) has had homework done on him by the New York Jets, who are in the mix for him, according to sources.

Footballguys view: With second-year RB Breece Hall coming back from an ACL tear in his rookie season, the Jets may not want to take any chances. Cook would instantly be the centerpiece of the ground game for QB Aaron Rodgers and company if he was added to the Jets' roster. Reports have been positive about Hall's recovery, but we'll have to see what kind of updates are ahead with training camp and the preseason coming up. Stay tuned.

Patriots | Pats 'intrigued' by Dalvin Cook    Wed Jul 5, 02:19 PM

Free-agent RB Dalvin Cook (Vikings) is drawing interest from the New England Patriots, who are 'intrigued' at the idea of adding the veteran back and pairing him with RB Rhamondre Stevenson, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on Saturday, July 1.

Footballguys view: The Dolphins are interested in Cook, but their offer wasn't good enough to get him to sign, so he is clearly looking for more money than the Dolphins were willing to give him. A more desperate team that wants to boost their offense from the doldrums like the Patriots could feel more urgency to add him, and they just overcommitted to a veteran by giving a 30-year-old DeVante Parker $14 million on an extension. Beware of taking Rhamondre Stevenson at ADP.

Jets | Adding Dalvin Cook a possibility    Fri Jun 30, 01:32 PM

Zach Rosenblatt, of The Athletic, wrote that Dalvin Cook joining the Jets "is certainly still a possibility".

Footballguys view: Rosenblatt also mentions that Kareem Hunt "maybe" could be added if he remains a free agent past the open of training camp, but that's he's skeptical general manager Joe Douglas "would shell out much money for another running back at this stage ... unless (Breece) Hall isn't ready to start the season." So we can read any addition at running back by the Jets as bad news for Hall's availability and effectiveness at the beginning of the season. Fifth-round pick Israel Abanikanda would be the primary early down backup to Hall if they don't add anyone, which would presumably mean that Hall is ready to roll for the opener against the Bills.

Dolphins | Miami made offer to Dalvin Cook    Wed Jun 28, 02:26 AM

Free-agent RB Dalvin Cook (Vikings) received an offer from the Miami Dolphins, according to a source Tuesday, June 27. The parameters of the deal were not disclosed, but there is mutual interest from both sides.

Footballguys view: At this time, it seems like the Dolphins are the most likely landing spot for Cook. He can go back to Florida where he played college ball (FSU) and lead the way in a Mike McDaniel offense that knows how to craft a strong rushing attack. If/when Cook is added by the Dolphins, veteran RB Raheem Mostert will move to a reserve role. We think rookie RB Devon Achane is going to work as a speed/receiver/change-of-pace back no matter who is no.1 on the depth chart.

NFL | Dalvin Cook looking for contender    Tue Jun 20, 12:49 AM

Free-agent RB Dalvin Cook (Vikings) said he is looking to sign with a team that will be competing for a championship this season. He said there is no timetable to sign with a team.

Footballguys view: On the Adam Schefter Podcast, Cook said his shoulder is fully healthy following offseason surgery. Now, he waits for a team to sign him so he can get back to the football field. Cook, like most veteran free agents in his position, is waiting for a contending team to sign him. The Dolphins and the Rams may be the team's most interested in his services at this time. We could see Miami making a run this year, but the Rams are further away from contention. Stay tuned.

Browns | Cleveland could target veteran RB insurance    Mon Jun 19, 12:48 AM

Free-agent RBs Dalvin Cook (Vikings), Ezekiel Elliott (Cowboys) and Kareem Hunt (Browns) are not likely to sign with the Cleveland Browns before the season, but Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer believes there is a possibility the Browns will add a veteran No. 3 back before the start of the season.

Footballguys view: The Browns have Nick Chubb, arguably the best RB in the league, as their starter. Behind him, we'll see Jerome Ford likely as the primary backup. Demetric Felton is there, but he's a smaller back who plays like a slot receiver. The Browns might be looking for a veteran - but it sounds like they're not interested in some of the bigger names available. Maybe a veteran like Marlon Mack could be of interest to the Browns when we get to training camp.

Dolphins | Dalvin Cook interested in Miami    Thu Jun 15, 01:09 PM

Free-agent RB Dalvin Cook (Vikings) is interested in signing with the Miami Dolphins, but it is believed he is looking for close to the $10.4 million he was scheduled to make in 2023, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Many have connected Cook to the Dolphins even before the Vikings let him go. The Florida native would be a nice fit for the Dolphins' offense, but the price has to be right. The Rams might get into the mix as many have speculated the restructuring of WR Cooper Kupp's contract (which cleared up $10.4 million) was in order to pursue Cook. Stay tuned.

Broncos | Denver not expected to pursue Dalvin Cook    Sun Jun 11, 02:02 PM

Free-agent RB Dalvin Cook (Vikings) does not appear to be a target for the Denver Broncos, according to 9News.com's Mike Klis.

Footballguys view: It sounds like Cook wants money similar to the 11 million he was going to earn with the Vikings, which means that like DeAndre Hopkins, it could be a long process for Cook to visit interested teams and create a market for his services. Miami was the team linked most to Cook before he was released, but they didn't want him enough to trade for him. Denver might not need Cook as much with Javonte Williams healthy enough to participate in OTAs in some fashion. Buffalo, Chicago, and Arizona are among the teams that could consider Cook, but not at an 11 million price tag.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook being released    Thu Jun 8, 10:27 AM

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook is expected to be released Thursday, June 8.

Footballguys view: This was expected. Alexander Mattison should move up 2-3 rounds in best ball drafts even though most Vikings beat writers saw this coming. Miami should be considered a leading candidate to land Cook, which would be a good spot for his fantasy value, but he could also land somewhere with more competition for touches. Kene Nwangwu, Ty Chandler, and DeWayne McBride should all get chances to win work behind Mattison in training camp, but the Vikings could also sign a veteran like Kareem Hunt if they don't trust the youngsters yet.

Broncos | No Buzz About a Trade for RB Cook    Wed Jun 7, 03:44 PM

Mike Klis, from 9News in Denver, reports he's heard no buzz about the Denver Broncos being interested in trading for Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook.

Footballguys view: Broncos GM George Paton was with the Vikings (as an assistant to then-GM Rick Spielman) when Cook was drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL draft. The Broncos could be interested if/when Cook is released by the Vikings, but they're unlikely to trade for him. Currently, Javonte Williams is getting limited work in during OTAs as he recovers from the multiple knee ligament injury that cut his 2022 season short. Samaje Perine was added to work in an RBBC with Williams this year, and it could be a 50-50 split when Williams is healthy. If added, Cook would clearly earn a large role. Stay tuned.

Dolphins | Dalvin Cook may be option for MIA    Sat Jun 3, 09:48 AM

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook likely will receive interest from the Miami Dolphins if he is released this offseason, according to The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson.

Footballguys view: If/when Cook is released, everyone is making the connection to the Dolphins. Cook played college ball at Florida State, and he regularly works out in Florida. The Dolphins have a packed room at the running back position. At this time, Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson are there with rookie RB Devon Achane to establish some form of RBBC in 2023. Cook would obviously change that if added to the roster, and he'd be the primary back with a sizable workload.

'I'm told all options are on the table here and that he could be released closer to the draft if things don't work out,' Fowler said.
