Falcons | Todd Gurley's hands betrayed him in 2019    Sun Mar 29, 05:30 PM

Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley was charged with the dropped pass on a league-high 14.3 percent of his targets in 2019 as a member of the Los Angeles Rams. Denver Broncos RB Phillip Lindsay (12.5) and Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (11.1) were the only other qualified running backs with a drop rate of higher than nine percent.

Footballguys view: Gurley got a one-year, 'prove it' deal with the Falcons. It would be great for him and the team if he could be more reliable as a target out of the backfield in 2020.

The Minnesota Vikings are interested in beginning discussions with RB Dalvin Cook on a contract extension during the offseason.

He finished 2019 with 1,135 rushing yards with 13 rushing touchdowns to go along with 53 catches for 519 yards. He made just $1 million during the 2019 season and will be entering the final year of his rookie contract.

Vikings | Minnesota sees 2019 season end    Sat Jan 11, 07:31 PM

Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins went 21-for-29 for 172 yards, one touchdown and one interception against the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round playoff game. RB Dalvin Cook rushed for 18 yards on nine carries and caught six passes for eight yards during the game. WR Stefon Diggs caught two passes for 57 yards and one touchdown on five targets. WR Adam Thielen caught five passes for 50 yards on seven targets. TE Irv Smith caught three passes for 39 yards on three targets, while TE Kyle Rudolph caught two passes for four yards on three targets.

Footballguys view: It was a good run for the Vikings this season. They failed to make the palyoffs last year but made it to the Divisional Round this year. Next season, in the final season of Kirk Cousins contract, the Vikings are hoping to make the NFC Championship at least. We'll see if they can make that happen. This offseason, the secondary is a part of the team they'll need to improve to make that run.

WR Adam Thielen caught seven passes for 129 yards on nine targets. TE Kyle Rudolph caught four passes for 31 yards and one touchdown on seven targets, while WR Stefon Diggs caught two passes for 19 yards on three targets.

Footballguys view: Cousins was able to make big plays when it counted...essentially for the first time in his career. He was not known for making plays in big or primetime games but Cousins was money on Sunday. The Vikings ran the ball well and controlled the tempo of the game with their rushing attack. It will be a battle of two similarly structured offenses in the Divisional Round as they take on the 49ers.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook may sit next two weeks    Thu Dec 19, 02:32 PM

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) is 'in a good place mentally' and expected to play for the Vikings in the playoffs, but his status for Week 16 against the Green Bay Packers is 'very much in doubt,' according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. According to Rapoport, his status for Week 17 versus the Chicago Bears could hinge on if Minnesota needs to win in order to make the postseason.

Footballguys view: Cook is almost certainly going to sit this week and even if he goes in Week 17, he might not be very trustworthy. Mike Boone should be the best Vikings back to have over the next two weeks.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook not giving up hope    Thu Dec 19, 12:58 PM

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) said Thursday, Dec. 19, he'll prepare for the game Monday, Dec. 23, against the Green Bay Packers as though he's going to play. 'I'm going to go through my normal routine to get ready for Monday night. We're going to see how it goes. I've been in the training room every day, starting my mornings every day. Trying to get my shoulder right so I can be available when my team need(s) me,' Cook said.

Footballguys view: Cook is holding out hope but Fantasy GMs can't afford to do that in the championship round of the fantasy playoffs. Mike Boone could be produce like a RB2 in Week 16 if Cook (and Alexander Mattison) are out.

Vikings | Dalvin Cook likely out this week    Thu Dec 19, 08:43 AM

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) is unlikely to play in Week 16 due to a shoulder injury. The Vikings are leaning toward shutting down Cook for the last two regular-season games, in hopes to have him ready for the playoffs, sources told ESPN's Courtney Cronin.

Footballguys view: Fantasy GMs in championship week are going to be without one of their top running backs. Alexander Mattison is also banged up so we might see Mike Boone as the lead back for the Vikings. Ameer Abdullah would get some work as a change-of-pace back. Boone has RB2/flex appeal in Week 16 if he's the main guy.

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) is making progress in his recovery, but head coach Mike Zimmer said he is not sure if Cook will be able to handle his normal workload in Week 16.

Footballguys view: We'll see if Cook can get a full practice in this week. If not, then Mike Boone could have a huge workload in Week 16. Alexander Mattison, Cook's normal backup, is banged up too. Boone was a standout player for the Vikings on Sunday and is ready for a larger role if necessary.

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury in Week 15 against the Los Angeles Chargers and he will not return. He finishes with nine runs for 27 yards while adding three grabs for 16 yards.
