Updating a previous item, a New York Giants spokesman said Sunday, July 7, that LB Dan Connor had spoken with the club and was cooperating with the authorities in Philadelphia. Connor's arrest is the 30th involving an active player since the Super Bowl, according to a chart kept by the San Diego Union-Tribune. Connor, 27, was trying to enter a terminal at the airport when a TSA officer saw the knife on an X-ray machine and notified cops. Connor, a two-time All-American at Penn State from Wallingford, Pa., was charged with possession of a weapon.

He's aware that the job appears to be his to secure and has been 'very commanding,' according to defensive coordinator Perry Fewell. 'He's taken a leadership role out there and I think he has some good respect from his teammates in some of the things he's done in the OTAs. Obviously, we want to find out what happens when the pads come on.' LB Dan Connor figured to stand a good chance to starter in the middle, but he's been unable to displace Herzlich.
