Colts | Kerry Collins almost certain he is retired     Tue Nov 1, 08:50 AM

Indianapolis Colts QB Kerry Collins (concussion) said Monday, Oct. 31, he's '99 percent sure' that he will retire for a second time. 'When you start dealing with concussions at my age and this point in my career, I'm inclined to think this is going to be it for me,' Collins said. Collins never fully recovered from a concussion suffered Sept. 25. 'I just didn't respond the way everybody had hoped,' Collins said. 'It just took longer. Some symptoms just lingered. There was concern that since it did take so long, in the future there would be a real possibility of longer-term damage ... (Concussions) hadn't been a big part of my career, but this one was significant.'

Colts | Reggie Wayne shows support for Curtis Painter     Thu Aug 25, 11:18 AM

Indianapolis Colts QB Reggie Wayne would like the team to keep their options open at quarterback should QB Peyton Manning (neck) not be ready to start the season. Wayne showed his support for QB Curtis Painter and did not agree with the team's decision to sign QB Kerry Collins. 'I don't want to make it seem like I'm not welcoming or having open arms to anybody that comes to our organization,' Wayne said. 'If they open the doors for Kerry Collins to come, then that's fine. I can't do (anything) about that anyways. But I'll be damned if we're going to open the doors for someone else, and just drop our heads on who we already have. The Colts are big on protecting their own, so I'm (going to) help protect our own.'

Footballguys view: Wow, Reggie - tell us how you really feel. He's fired up about the QB situation, but it's too bad Painter isn't fired up as much. Painter and Dan Orlovsky have both looked really bad this preseason.

There's a chance Manning won't be able to begin the season as the team's starter. Collins gives them veteran insurance in case that happens.

'I didn't win a Super Bowl and that is going to be one of the things that bugs me, I know it will. But when I sit here and look back at the age of 38, I played 16 years and I had kind of a rough start but I am proud of the way I came back from that and the things I accomplished over the years. There will be parts of it that I will miss, but I don't think I'll ever regret the decision I made.'

Titans | Could try to talk Kerry Collins into returning    Sat Jul 16, 05:03 PM

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak did not completely rule out the possibility of trying to talk retired QB Kerry Collins into returning to the Titans. Munchak said he would like to talk to Collins but believes the team is ready to move on from Collins.

Titans | Kerry Collins announces retirement    Thu Jul 7, 02:16 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Kerry Collins has announced his retirement from professional football.

Footballguys view: Collins had one more good season in him - the 2008 campaign that saw the Titans enter the playoffs as the top seed in the AFC after Vince Young experienced a week 1 meltdown - but after that, the game passed him by. That he hung around through 2010 and got paid well to do it shows just how few adequate QBs there are in the NFL.

Panthers | Two former QBs unlikely to return    Sun Jun 26, 01:12 PM

The Carolina Panthers likely will not show interest in Tennessee Titans impending free-agent QB Kerry Collins or Cleveland Browns QB Jake Delhomme if he is released after the lockout ends.

Footballguys view: Collins could stay in Tennessee where he could start until Jake Locker is prepared to start. Delhomme is unlikely to stay in Cleveland and could end up with John Fox in Denver if the Broncos trade Kyle Orton.

Titans | Kerry Collins would like to return    Sun Jun 19, 01:57 AM

Free-agent QB Kerry Collins (Titans) reiterated Saturday, June 18, that he would like to return to the Tennessee Titans in 2011, but made it clear he'd like to be the starter and not a backup.

Footballguys view: Collins could return to the Titans and begin the season as the starter while rookie Jake Locker is developed at his own pace. If the Titans don't grab Collins we feel certain they will make a move to add a veteran like Matt Hasselbeck.

Titans | Kerry Collins open to return    Sat Jun 11, 04:25 PM

Tennessee Titans impending free-agent QB Kerry Collins said he would be open to re-signing with the Titans this offseason would have to make sure that the situation was right before making a decision. Collins said he would like to meet with QB Jake Locker to see if he would be willing to work with Locker. 'I would like to get to know Jake a little bit to make sure he'd be the type guy I'd want to help out. That won't be the sole issue either. It is not about what kind of guy Jake is. I just have to weigh a lot of things,' Collins said.

Footballguys view: Some believe Collins could retire, but a return to Tennessee would make a lot of sense. He knows the team, is a savvy veteran, and could begin the season as the starter while rookie QB Jake Locker is developed at his own pace.

Titans | Rookie QB Locker has shown a ton of improvement    Sun Jun 5, 07:50 PM

Jim Wyatt, from the Tennessean, commented in an interview on The Audible that Titans rookie QB Jake Locker has been working with former Jets QB Ken O'Brien in the Los Angeles area. According to O'Brien the rookie has already shown a ton of improvement so far this offseason.

Footballguys view: Locker is working on throwing with a better base in order to be more accurate when he throws. The Titans may add a veteran to begin the season as the starter but we could see Locker taking over somewhere around the midway point of the season if he's ready. Options for the team include guys like Kerry Collins, Matt Hasselbeck, Charlie Frye, and Rex Grossman.
