Rams | Mark Clayton placed on IR Thu Nov 24, 12:05 PM
The St. Louis Rams have placed WR Mark Clayton (knee) on Injured Reserve, ending his 2011 season. In a corresponding move, the team re-signed free-agent WR Nick Miller.
Footballguys view: Clayton never seemed to be right this year. The Rams optimistically signed him before he was healthy, and they ended up needing him, but he couldn't hold up under the wear and tear of playing at full speed. |

St. Louis Rams WR Mark Clayton (knee) made his season debut in Week 10 against the Cleveland Browns. He did not have any receptions, and he was targeted just one time.

St. Louis Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo said Wednesday, Nov. 9, that he is uncertain if WR Mark Clayton (knee) will be ready to play in Week 10 against the Cleveland Browns. 'I'm ready to play,' Clayton said. 'The coaches understand the situation. I don't know the extent or the where or the when, but I'm ready.'
Footballguys view: Clayton will have a chance to become the #2 WR for the Rams if he can get fully back in game shape. Monitor him in deep leagues. |

Rams | Mark Clayton activated from PUP list Wed Nov 9, 04:08 PM
The St. Louis Rams have activated WR Mark Clayton (knee) from the Physically Unable to Perform list. He is expected to play in Week 10.
Footballguys view: Clayton showed fantastic chemistry with QB Sam Bradford last year. The duo could start right where they left off now that Clayton is off the PUP list. The presence of WR Brandon Lloyd will create single coverage for Clayton. He's a risky start in week 10, but could emerge as a quality WR3 for your team later in the year. |

The St. Louis Rams plan on activating WR Mark Clayton (Achilles') from the Physically Unable to Perform list Wednesday, Nov. 9, with WR Greg Salas (leg) expected to be placed on Injured Reserve. The team signed free-agent WR David Gilreath (Colts) to the practice squad and released WR Kris Adams Tuesday, Nov. 8.

St. Louis Rams WR Mark Clayton (knee) and CB Marquis Johnson (knee) won't be active for the team's Week 7 game after going through their first full week of practice.

Rams | Mark Clayton nearing return Thu Oct 20, 01:12 AM
St. Louis Rams WR Mark Clayton (knee) remains on the Physically-Unable-to-Perform (PUP) list. However, he is nearly ready for a return, even though officially the team has three weeks to decide whether to add him to the active roster or place him on season-ending Injured Reserve. Barring a setback, it sounds like he'll be taken off PUP soon.
Footballguys view: Getting Clayton back with the addition of Brandon Lloyd could really help jump start the Rams passing game. |

St. Louis Rams WR Mark Clayton (knee) and CB Marquis Johnson (knee) will begin practicing after missing the first six weeks because they were on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

St. Louis Rams WR Mark Clayton (knee) is scheduled to return to practice next week after spending the first six weeks on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Rams | Mark Clayton on PUP Sat Sep 3, 07:28 PM
St. Louis Rams WR Mark Clayton (knee) has been placed on the reserve physically unable to perform list. Clayton will not be able to play during the first six weeks of the NFL season. When he is able to return to practice after Week 6, the Rams will then have a three-week window to activate, release or place him on Injured Reserve.
Footballguys view: No surprise here. Mike Sims-Walker will have the chance to take the #1 wide receiver job and run with it while Clayton recovers and rehabs his knee. |

Rams | Mark Clayton could start year on PUP list Thu Sep 1, 07:26 PM
St. Louis Rams WR Mark Clayton (knee) could start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list, which would mean he would sit out at least the first six weeks of the season.
Footballguys view: The Clayton signing represents a belief in Clayton's ability to contribute later this season, but also some doubt on the Rams part in Mike Sims-Walker and Brandon Gibson. If he gets back to full speed, Clayton will be worth a bench spot after his WR1-level start to 2010. |

Rams | Mark Clayton on PUP for now Thu Sep 1, 12:32 AM
St. Louis Rams WR Mark Clayton (knee), who re-signed earlier Wednesday, Aug. 31, is on the physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) list for now. The team will have to make an official decision on his status by Saturday, Sept. 3.
Footballguys view: It won't be a shock if the team puts Clayton on the PUP to begin the season, which would cause him to miss the first six games, but that wouldn't mean that you should write off Clayton for the entire year. The Rams wouldn't have signed him if that was the case. |

Rams | Mark Clayton agrees to terms Wed Aug 31, 04:16 PM
The St. Louis Rams have agreed to terms with free-agent WR Mark Clayton (Rams) on a one-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Finally! This move was expected for quite some time, and the Rams finally pulled the trigger today. Clayton showed fantastic chemistry with QB Sam Bradford last year before he was hurt. If he stays healthy he could be the team's leading receiver this year and makes for a good value as a WR5 in fantasy leagues. |

Patriots | Mark Clayton to work out Thu Aug 18, 05:05 PM
The New England Patriots plan to work out free-agent WR Mark Clayton (Rams) Friday, Aug. 19.
Footballguys view: It's surprising the Rams haven't locked down Clayton by now. The Patriots may be looking for additional WR help even though they added Chad Ochocinco earlier this year. |

Rams | Mark Clayton visits Fri Aug 12, 12:03 AM
Free-agent WR Mark Clayton (knee) visited with the St. Louis Rams Thursday, Aug. 11. His visit was to keep them up to speed on where he is in his recovery from a knee injury. He is expected to re-sign with the Rams, but it may not be for another week or longer.
Footballguys view: Clayton's eventual re-signing could take the edge off of Mike Sims-Walker's sleeper status, but Sims-Walker should still get a chance to start and have a bounce back season. It's hard to trust Clayton with his knee still being a big question this close to the season. |

Rams | Mark Clayton still on radar Wed Aug 10, 03:43 AM
Free-agent WR Mark Clayton (knee) met with his former team, the St. Louis Rams, Tuesday, Aug. 9. He is recovering from knee surgery he had last season, and met with head coach Steve Spagnuolo and the team's training staff. Spagnuolo said the team is in constant contact with Clayton. Clayton will likely undergo additional tests with the team soon to see how strong his leg is. The Rams remain very interested in re-signing Clayton, but they want to make sure he is healthy first.
Footballguys view: Clayton showed great chemistry with QB Sam Bradford last year. If he's healthy then we think it's a slam dunk move for the Rams. |

Rams | Mark Clayton talks continue Thu Jul 28, 10:29 PM
The St. Louis Rams and free-agent WR Mark Clayton continue to talk. However, the two sides have yet to agree to terms on a new deal.
Footballguys view: Clayton would be a great late-round sleeper in St. Louis because of the chemistry he showed with fellow Sooner Sam Bradford last year. He put up WR1 fantasy numbers for the first four weeks of the season, and the chance that he could do it again is easily worth a pick in the 12th round or later if he is back in St. Louis. |

Rams | Mark Clayton says knee feels wonderful Wed Jun 29, 11:51 AM
St. Louis Rams impending free-agent WR Mark Clayton (knee) said his knee feels wonderful at this point and has recently worked out with QB Sam Bradford.
Footballguys view: Clayton and Bradford showed great chemistry last year before Clayton was hurt and should pick up where they left off in 2011. The veteran WR is a free agent, but he wants to stay in St. Louis and the Rams will likely sign him as soon as the lockout is lifted. |

The St. Louis Rams were thought to be near a contract extension with WR Mark Clayton, reports Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. If a deal isn't struck before the CBA runs out, Clayton is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent.
Footballguys view: Clayton has great chemistry with young QB Sam Bradford and the team would like to keep him around. The Rams are expected to upgrade their WR corps in the 2011 NFL Draft, but Clayton gives them much needed veteran leadership. |

Rams | Mark Clayton progressing in rehab Tue Feb 22, 03:18 PM
St. Louis Rams WR Mark Clayton (knee) is progressing nicely in his rehab from a patellar tendon injury last year, according to NFL.com. 'He's doing extremely well,' agent Jim Steiner said. 'He'll be 100 percent, and be fine. I don't know exactly when he'll be at full, full, full, speed. I don't want to speak out of turn, but I think it's somewhere at the end of March, something like that, or in April.'

Rams | Talking to Mark Clayton about extension Tue Feb 22, 02:42 AM
The St. Louis Rams have had steady dialogue with WR Mark Clayton about a contract extension, although it's uncertain if a new deal can be worked out before a possible lockout March 4, reports Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. 'We've had dialogue with Mark since the time he got here,' said executive vice president of football operations Kevin Demoff.
Footballguys view: We have a feeling that Clayton will stick around in St. Louis. He had great chemistry with QB Sam Bradford and could be a featured weapon in a Josh McDaniels offense. However, we do expect the Rams to address the WR position with a premium pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. |

The St. Louis Rams would like to re-sign impending free-agent WR Mark Clayton this offseason, reports Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Clayton could be considered the team's top priority among their free agents.
Footballguys view: Smart move by the Rams here if they can make it happen. Clayton also wants to stay in St. Louis, so we feel the two sides will come to an agreement. The veteran receiver never lived up to his potential in Baltimore, but something clicked when he started catching passes from Sam Bradford. |

The St. Louis Rams placed WR Mark Clayton (knee) on the Injured Reserve list Tuesday, Oct. 12, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Jim Thomas.
Footballguys view: Mark Clayton was playing better than ever this year after he was traded to the Rams and will now miss the rest of the season. He was Sam Bradford's favorite target but now the rookie will have to look elsewhere. We should continue to see Danny Amendola and the tight ends targeted heavily by Bradford. |
