Seahawks | Seattle chats with Chase Claypool    Tue Apr 9, 04:58 PM

Free-agent WR Chase Claypool (Dolphins) recently visited with the Seattle Seahawks, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Hard to get excited about Claypool, who has come up short in stops with Pittsburgh, Chicago and Miami. But the fact he's still drawing interest in the league suggests there's enough to keep him on the radar.

Dolphins | Chase Claypool lands in Miami    Fri Oct 6, 10:46 AM

Chicago Bears WR Chase Claypool and a 2025 seventh-round pick were acquired by the Chicago Bears Friday, Oct. 6, in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick.

Footballguys view: Claypool will start at the bottom of the depth chart, but Mike McDaniel has experience setting up Deebo Samuel for success, so maybe Claypool could have a hybrid role while Erik Ezukanma, last year's fourth round pick, is on the NFI list. The Dolphins had been using the big wide receiver as a runner at times before he got hurt.

Bears | Chase Claypool likely to be released    Thu Oct 5, 02:05 AM

Chicago Bears WR Chase Claypool will likely be released, multiple NFL executives told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com.

Footballguys view: Things didn't work out for Claypool with the Bears, and he's looking for a fresh start - again. The physical talent is obvious with Claypool, but now two teams have moved on from his services. Someone out there will be interested in him to be sure, but no team wants to trade for him...even if the Bears only want a late-round pick in exchange.

Chicago Bears WR Chase Claypool (hamstring) suffered an apparent hamstring injury during practice Wednesday, Aug. 9, according to NFL Network's Stacey Dales.

Footballguys view: Claypool is incredibly gifted from a physical standpoint, but man alive is he banged up seemingly every time you turn around. We'll see how long this hamstring injury keeps him out of action. With Claypool injured, guys like Dante Pettis and Velus Jones could get more work.

Bears | Chase Claypool on PUP list    Mon Jul 24, 03:17 PM

Chicago Bears WR Chase Claypool (undisclosed) was placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Sunday, July 23.

Footballguys view: Claypool didn't exactly pop after the Bears traded for him during the season last year, and he's going to be behind DJ Moore in the pecking order after the Bears traded for him in the offseason. This won't help his case to have fantasy relevance this year.

Bears | WR Mooney 'Ready to Roll' for Camp    Mon Jul 10, 05:17 PM

At his recent youth football camp, Chicago Bears WR Darnell Mooney said he would be 'ready to roll' for the start of training camp later this summer.

Footballguys view: That's good news for the Bears and for Mooney as he's trying to bounce back from an injury-shortened and underperforming 2022 season. The addition of WR D.J. Moore means Mooney will be one-on-one for some deep shots all the time. If QB Justin Fields can take strides as a passer, that could mean higher-value targets for a deep threat like Mooney. We like him as a late-round flier in your fantasy league.

Bears | WR Jones Needs to Show Special Teams Value    Mon Jun 19, 04:58 PM

Chicago Bears WR Velus Jones will need to prove his value on special teams in training camp and the preseason if he's going to make the final roster according to The Athletic's Kevin Fishbain.

Footballguys view: Things change pretty quickly around here. Jones, a third-round pick out of Tennessee in the 2022 NFL draft, was pushed down the depth chart when the Bears traded for WR D.J. Moore. Add in Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool to see how Jones is the no.4 option at the position - at best. The Bears also have Equanimeous St. Brown and rookie Tyler Scott ready to establish a pecking order behind their top three receivers. Oh yeah, veteran Dante Pettis is there to compete with Jones (and others) as a returner and receiver. Needless to say, Jones has his work cut out for him.

Bears | Chase Claypool not working with team Tuesday    Wed Jun 14, 01:55 AM

Chicago Bears WR Chase Claypool (undisclosed) worked off to the side with the training staff Tuesday, June 13, and has not practiced since the first week of organized team activities, according to head coach Matt Eberflus. Per Eberflus, Claypool is expected to be a full-go for training camp.'Just a few minor things he's working with. He's not in a time crunch,' Eberflus said via Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.

Footballguys view: Claypool has talent, but the injury bug sure does hit him often. If healthy, Claypool can be a threat down the field and in the red zone. He's likely to be the team's no.3 wide receiver behind D.J. Moore and Darnell Mooney - if he can stay healthy.

Bears | Chase Claypool feeling more comfortable    Thu Jun 8, 01:19 PM

Chicago Bears WR Chase Claypool is 'definitely in a much better place' this summer than he was in the weeks following his trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, according to offensive coordinator Luke Getsy.'To say where he is now, obviously, he's definitely in a much better place. That's what's most important. Like Flus (head coach Matt Eberflus) and those guys have said, I think that his positivity, his optimism coming into this thing, and his attack and his approach to how he's trying to learn this thing is really cool to see,' Getsy told NBC Sports Chicago.

Footballguys view: Claypool's fantasy fortunes are still somewhat dim with D.J. Moore added in a run-first offense, but we haven't seen what he can do when he is familiar with the offense. He's a late round pick in best ball leagues, but his dynasty prospects could bounce back if he makes a few big-time athletic touchdowns like he did early in his career with Pittsburgh.

Bears | Chase Claypool sidelined at OTAs    Thu Jun 1, 01:59 AM

Chicago Bears WR Chase Claypool (undisclosed) did not practice Wednesday, May 31, due to a soft tissue injury.

Footballguys view: Claypool has a ton of talent, but injuries keep him out of action quite a bit. After getting traded to Chicago in 2022, Claypool only had 14 catches for 140 yards in seven games. He's had an entire offseason to get up to speed with the playbook, and now this undisclosed injury is keeping him from participating in practice. Let's see what Claypool can do in training camp before considering him as any sort of late-round flier in fantasy leagues.
