However, the bulk of his production came on his 54-yard touchdown scamper in the third quarter. Spiller didn't have a single pass thrown his way.

Spiller (ankle) will be a game-time decision in the team's Week 5 game against the Cleveland Browns Thursday, Oct. 3, and he was walking with a heavy limp in the locker room Tuesday, Oct. 1, despite saying there is 'not much swelling' in his ankle. 'It felt good. To be honest, I didn't think I would be able to jog today. So that was an encouraging sign,' Spiller said. 'Tomorrow will be a huge day for us, to see what the reaction will be.' RB Tashard Choice is expected to see more carries, and the team is even considering signing RB Ronnie Wingo off the practice squad for the game.

The Washington Redskins have been reluctant to start RB Roy Helu Jr. over RB Ryan Torain, despite the fact that Torain has just 71 yards in the last six games, compared to Helu's 122. 'I like Helu. He's doing some great things,' head coach Mike Shanahan said. 'I don't want to put too much pressure on him too early. He's not ready for that. But he's gaining experience, and I like what I see.' Torain started in Week 11 against the Dallas Cowboys, but Helu and RB Tashard Choice saw plenty of work.

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said he is uncertain RB Tashard Choice (hamstring) will play in Week 11, even though Choice has declared himself ready. Shanahan also said he isn't sure exactly what kind of role Choice will play once he is cleared for action. 'You don't know about running backs or safeties until they play,' Shanahan said. 'People can tell you a running back is a good running back or a safety is a good safety, but at least in my experience, until they actually put the pads on and they do it in live situations, you don't know for sure.'
| Footballguys view: Choice showed flashes of brilliance years ago, but has done next to nothing since then. Because of Mike Shanahan's propensity to throw fantasy owners a curve ball it wouldn't surprise us to see Choice inserted as the Redskins starter at some point this year. |
