Chiefs | Jamaal Charles retiring    Tue Apr 30, 11:24 AM

Free-agent RB Jamaal Charles (Jaguars) will sign a one-day contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Footballguys view: When he was at his best, Charles was one of the best in the league and a favorite of Fantasy GMs everywhere. A third-round pick out of Texas in the 2008 NFL draft, Charles was a top-12 fantasy running back in five of his first seven years in the league. Knee injuries robbed him of his trademark speed and he didn't look the same since 2014. Stints with Denver and Jacksonville will not be remembered, but his time with the Chiefs was epic.

Ravens | Five RBs work out for Ravens    Fri Oct 26, 06:33 PM

Free-agent RBs Jamaal Charles (Jaguars), Charcandrick West (Jets), Fitzgerald Toussaint (Steelers), Akrum Wadley (Titans) and Dare Ogunbowale (Buccaneers) worked out for the Baltimore Ravens Friday, Oct. 26, according to a source.

Footballguys view: The Ravens are just updating their emergency list here. They've got Alex Collins as the starter and Buck Allen as the primary backup. Behind those two is guys like Gus Edwards and De'Lance Turner.

Jaguars | Jamaal Charles released    Mon Oct 22, 05:12 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Jamaal Charles was released Monday, Oct. 22. LB Nick DeLuca was promoted to the active roster from the practice squad in a corresponding move.

Footballguys view: That didn't last long. Charles was just picked up by the Jaguars a couple of weeks ago. He didn't do much in two games (six carries for seven yards) with the team and now finds himself back as a street free agent. The Jaguars move forward with the newly acquired Carlos Hyde and T.J. Yeldon...that is until Leonard Fournette can come back from his lingering hamstring injury.

Jaguars | Jamaal Charles wants to bring spark    Thu Oct 11, 10:59 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Jamaal Charles said he hopes to bring 'big plays' to the Jacksonville offense. 'When they see me, I want to give a boost, get them hyped, get them excited that I am here and be a spark to the fire that is going to make a flame,' Charles said.

Jaguars | Brandon Wilds let go    Tue Oct 9, 02:24 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Brandon Wilds was waived Tuesday, Oct. 9, as a result of RB Jamaal Charles being signed.

Footballguys view: The Jaguars need Charles to be the backup to T.J. Yeldon. We won't see Leonard Fournette in Week 6 and there is a chance he's out a bit longer than that. Charles didn't have much left in the tank with the Broncos last year but he does give the team an explosive backup who could soak up a few carries here and there.

Jaguars | Jamaal Charles inks with Jaguars    Tue Oct 9, 02:08 PM

Free-agent RB Jamaal Charles (Broncos) is signing an undisclosed deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars Tuesday, Oct. 9, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Charles didn't look like himself last year with the Broncos. He may not be the player he used to be, but Charles still has some speed and instinct for running the ball. We should see him as the backup to T.J. Yeldon going forward while Leonard Fournette (hamstring) is still on the mend.

Redskins | Jamaal Charles visiting Washington    Sun Aug 19, 10:24 AM

Free-agent RB Jamaal Charles (Broncos) is scheduled to visit the Washington Redskins Sunday, Aug. 19, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Charles didn't look washed up last year, but he didn't resemble the back we saw with the Chiefs. He would likely be a non-factor if he is signed, but he could hurt Rob Kelley's speculative value.

Saints | New Orleans to host Jamaal Charles    Tue Jun 12, 01:08 PM

Free-agent RB Jamaal Charles (Broncos) is scheduled to visit the New Orleans Saints on Wednesday, June 13.

Footballguys view: They just want to see what Charles has left in the tank. He seemed to show flashes last year with the Broncos, but Charles never got a chance to really show what he can still do. The Saints may be looking for help in the backfield and a veteran presence to have behind Alvin Kamara...especially since Mark Ingram is suspended the first four games of the regular season.

Broncos | Jamaal Charles plans to play    Sun Feb 18, 03:26 PM

Denver Broncos impending free-agent RB Jamaal Charles plans to play in 2018 but will not be re-signed by the Broncos.

Footballguys view: Charles proved that he still had some left in the tank last year with the Broncos. The team didn't really use him as much as they could, and that's likely to be the story with Charles from here on out for the rest of his career. Any team in need of a speedy, change-of-pace back could show interest in Charles.

Broncos | Jamaal Charles frustrated with playing time    Tue Dec 26, 09:13 PM

Denver Broncos RB Jamaal Charles told Nicki Jhabvala of the Denver Post on Tuesday, Dec. 26, that he feels 'like I never got a chance to show people that I can carry the load,' Broncos head coach Vance Joseph said the team has not considered releasing Charles, who averaged about 15 snaps over the first 14 games of the season.

Footballguys view: Charles has not been used much at all by the Broncos. He's been active every week but one for the team, earning a cool $78K every week as a bonus. Charles proved he could be healthy enough to play in a limited fashion, but he wants to get more time and more touches. The Broncos have no intent of releasing Charles at this time.

Broncos | Jamaal Charles ready to play    Sat Oct 28, 04:59 PM

Denver Broncos RB Jamaal Charles (non-injury) fully participated in practice Saturday, Oct. 28, and is not on the injury report for Week 8.

Footballguys view: The Broncos have been talking for weeks about getting Charles more involved. He wants to 'take the training wheels off' as he said earlier in the week. Charles is ready to do more, and this matchup against his former team on Monday would be a perfect time to do that. We've got him as a flex-worthy player for fantasy owners in Week 8.

Broncos | Jamaal Charles wants to make impact    Fri Oct 27, 10:52 PM

Denver Broncos RB Jamaal Charles said he would love for the coaching staff to 'take the training wheels off' of him when the Broncos face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8.

Footballguys view: Charles is going back to Kansas City and Arrowhead Stadium where he became one of the best Chiefs RBs to ever play. He's not the same player he used to be, but Charles still thinks he can be 'the man' as a ball carrier. We'll see if he gets more work than he has in recent weeks. Charles has had 14 touches combined in the last two weeks. He might get that number on Monday night.

Broncos | Jamaal Charles does not practice    Thu Oct 26, 06:45 PM

Denver Broncos RB Jamaal Charles (non-injury) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 26.

Footballguys view: We're not sure what is going on with Jamaal Charles but we know nothing good is happening with the offensive line and passing offense. It will be tough sledding against Kansas City this week and the lack of success in the passing offense could make it tougher as the Chiefs focus on the running game. On top of all that, if Denver falls behind they will have to pass and that means less touches for the backfield. We would bench Charles this week if he plays.

Denver Broncos RB Jamaal Charles is on tap to receive more touches, according to head coach Vance Joseph. 'That's always the plan with Jamaal as we go forward in the season,' Joseph said. 'He'll get more and more touches.'

Footballguys view: This is still CJ Anderson's backfield, but it's hard not to be concerned that more Charles means less carries for Anderson and a RBBC setup that limits them both. We'll keep an eye on this, and right now it appears like though Anderson is the main back, he's not more than a RB3.

Footballguys view: Charles was in basically a 50-50 committee with CJ Anderson, but he won't get more than that because of his knees and Devontae Booker is due back soon. He's a limited ceiling flex play, but it's good to see flashes of his old burst.
