NFL | Chris Chambers already contemplating comeback    Tue Jul 17, 12:25 AM

Retired WR Chris Chambers will open a new training facility in South Florida Aug. 5, and he thinks he might benefit from the facility to make a potential return to the NFL. 'If it gets to the point where I'm feeling good with our medical crew that's going to be in here and some of our trainers, and the nutrition I'll be on, maybe I'll get a stab at (a return to the NFL),' Chambers said. 'It would be great to play as a Miami Dolphin because it's right around the corner. If they need help at receiver, just a leader in the locker room to come out there and make some plays I'd be open to doing that.'

Chiefs | Chris Chambers may not return to team    Wed Jun 22, 09:37 AM

The Kansas City Chiefs may consider releasing WR Chris Chambers because of the addition of WR Jonathan Baldwin.

Footballguys view: The writing was on the wall when Chambers was inactive for the Chiefs playoff game against the Ravens last year. Chambers is not the same player he used to be and may have difficulty latching on with another team.

Chiefs | Chambers time up in KC?    Tue May 24, 11:42 AM

Bob Gretz, reporting on his website bobgretz.com, believes the Chiefs are set to part ways with veteran WR Chris Chambers.

Footballguys view: The writing was on the wall when Chambers was inactive for the Chiefs playoff game last year. He's not the same player he used to be and seems to lack the motivation needed to be a consistent wide receiver. Chambers could find a home with a WR desperate team, but we're not expecting much production from him in 2011.

Chiefs | Chris Chambers still part of offense    Wed Oct 27, 11:07 AM

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley said WR Chris Chambers (finger) remains a big plan of the team's offense moving forward despite being inactive the last two weeks, according to CBSSports.com. 'His arrow is still pointing. Unfortunately he had a little setback but he'll be back and I believe contributing in a big way,' Haley said.

Footballguys view: Chris Chambers has been a healthy scratch the last two weeks and should not be on most fantasy rosters. We'll see if he can actually be active for a game before getting excited about his fantasy prospects.

Chiefs | Injury didn't keep WR Chambers from playing last week    Sat Oct 23, 03:37 PM

Kent Babb, from the Kansas City Star, reports Chiefs head coach Todd Haley decided that Chris Chambers would be a healthy scratch last week. Chambers has been dealing with a finger injury, but apparently was healthy enough to play.

Footballguys view: Chambers looked good coming over from the Chargers last year, but he's been a bust so far in 2010. Haley doesn't mess around with his players, so the veteran wideout had better improve his game if he wants to see the field on Sundays.

Chiefs | Dwayne Bowe and Chris Chambers at top of receiver pecking order    Thu Aug 12, 03:03 AM

Kansas City Chiefs WRs Dwayne Bowe and Chris Chambers are the team's top two receivers in the starting lineup, reports Adam Teicher, of The Kansas City Star. WRs Dexter McCluster and Jerheme Urban are seeing time when the team uses multiple receiver sets, while WR Terrance Copper appears likely to make the team due to his work on special teams.

Footballguys view: This is not a surprise. Don't let it scare you away from McCluster as a late-round flier, he should still get touches as a tailback and wildcat QB, in addition to his work as a slot receiver.

Chiefs | Concerns over decline from Chris Chambers    Sun Jul 25, 12:52 PM

The Kansas City Chiefs must be concerned with WR Chris Chambers, who was far and away the team's best receiver last season after arriving mid-way through the year, reports Adam Teicher, of The Kansas City Star. Chambers will turn 32 before the season, so there has to be fear of when his play will decline.

Footballguys view: Chambers seemed rejuvenated last year when he came to Kansas City, and the Chiefs are hopeful he can maintain that pace in 2010. The roster depth behind Dwayne Bowe, Chris Chambers, and Dexter McCluster is very shallow, so Chambers should still hold onto his starting job even if he's not quite the same.

  Chiefs | Chambers re-signed     Mon Mar 8, 03:46 PM

Adam Schefter, of ESPN, reports the Kansas City Chiefs have re-signed unrestricted free-agent WR Chris Chambers to a three-year deal that could be worth up to $15 million. The contract includes $5.9 million in guaranteed money.

Footballguys view: Chambers played really well after he was let go by the San Diego Chargers last year, and the Chiefs wanted him to continue to be a part of the team. He will start opposite Dwayne Bowe, and could be a bigger fantasy factor in 2010 if KC can protect QB Matt Cassel better.

Chiefs | Chambers mistress charged with stalking    Tue Dec 1, 10:39 PM

John Wilkens, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports Kansas City Chiefs WR Chris Chambers' former mistress, Stacey Bernice Saunders, has been charged with 11 misdemeanor counts for allegedly stalking and harassing Chambers' family. Saunders is due in court Jan. 19 for arraignment, according to San Diego District Attorney's Office spokesman Paul Levikow. Chamber's wife told San Diego police in April that Saunders was harassing her with phone calls. Chambers requested a temporary restraining order against Saunders two months later, characterizing the calls, text messages and e-mails as "abusive, vulgar and irrational." Chambers acknowledged having an affair with Saunders, but his request for a restraining order was dropped when neither showed up for a hearing in late June.

Chiefs | Chambers continues strong play     Mon Nov 30, 12:04 PM

Bill Williamson, of ESPN.com, reports Kansas City Chiefs WR Chris Chambers had a team-high seven receptions for 70 yards and one touchdown in Week 12 and has 17 catches in four games since joining the Chiefs.

Footballguys view: Chris Chambers has excelled with Bowe in and out of the lineup. He seems to have found a new motivation in Kansas City, after being a disappointment earlier this year with the Chargers. The Chiefs will be without Bowe for a couple of more weeks, and should continue to lean on the veteran Chambers.

Kent Babb, of The Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel and WR Chris Chambers are working on building a chemistry with each other. Chambers said one will come as they work with each other and gain experience.

Footballguys view: Their chemistry looked pretty good last week, although most of Chambers production came in garbage time. We expect Chambers 2 TD performance from last week to be his best game of the season.

Chiefs | Chambers could play Week 9    Thu Nov 5, 11:38 AM

Josh Looney, of KCChiefs.com, reports that Chiefs head coach Todd Haley said new WR Chris Chambers has a chance to play in week 9, but he was non-committal about the situation.

Footballguys view: Chambers will have little to no value in this offense, even if he does play. The offensive line hasn't given Matt Cassel time to run the scheme, and only Dwayne Bowe has been consistently productive in the Chiefs WR corps.

Chiefs | Chambers claimed off waivers    Tue Nov 3, 04:35 PM

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Kansas City Chiefs claimed WR Chris Chambers off waivers from the San Diego Chargers Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Footballguys view: Chambers will get the reminder of his 2.4 million dollar salary, so the Chiefs must think he's good enough to start for them. As badly as he has been playing, they might be right.

Raiders | Unlikely to pursue Chambers    Tue Nov 3, 10:28 AM

Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable said the team is unlikely to pursue free-agent WR Chris Chambers (Chargers). 'I don't think so at this point with who we have,' Cable said.

Footballguys view: The Raiders problems don't have to do with a lack of talent at the wide receiver position. As long as Darrius Heyward-Bey and Louis Murphy stop knocking each other down on routes that is. In all seriousness, the Raiders already have a washed up veteran on their team - Javon Walker - no need to add another one.

Chargers | Chambers waived    Mon Nov 2, 03:39 PM

Adam Schefter, of ESPN, reports the San Diego Chargers waived WR Chris Chambers Monday, Nov. 2, according to a league source. He must clear waivers in order to play for another team, and each team will have a chance to claim Chambers by 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3. The Chargers will not have to pay him the $2.5 million they owe him if he is claimed by another team.

Footballguys view: Chambers has been a big disappointment for the Chargers this season and the team decided they were done with his underachieving ways. Bump up Malcom Floyd with this news, as he has big play ability and good chemistry with quarterback Philip Rivers.

Chargers | Chambers in danger of losing playing time    Mon Oct 26, 10:59 PM

Kevin Acee, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports San Diego Chargers WR Chris Chambers is in danger of losing more of his playing time, according to head coach Norv Turner. Chambers finished without a reception Week 7, just the third time in his career that he didn't catch a pass. Chambers dropped an apparent touchdown catch and let another pass sail through his hands during the game. Chambers has been targeted 30 times this season, but he has only eight receptions to show for it.

Footballguys view: Make sure to put Malcom Floyd high in your waiver wire priority this week. He has terrific chemistry with Philip Rivers and he has made the most of limited targets.

Chargers | Chambers insists he has lost little of his speed    Thu Sep 10, 01:29 AM

Tod Leonard, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports San Diego Chargers WR Chris Chambers insists he has lost little of his speed, even though he turned 31 this month. Chambers is motivated to show that 2008 was an oddity, as he finished with career lows in receptions and receiving yards. Chambers has scored 52 receiving touchdowns in his career, one less than Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco and Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne for the most in the 2001 NFL Draft class. Chambers has scored a touchdown every 9.1 catches, the best ratio in his draft class.

Footballguys view: Chambers is still an important piece to the Chargers passing game, but is now behind Antonio Gates and Vincent Jackson when QB Philip Rivers is going through his reads. He's fairly unpredictable as a fantasy starter, but could certainly have his fair share of big games in 2009.

Chargers | Chambers coming around at camp    Thu Aug 6, 12:38 PM

Kevin Acee, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports San Diego Chargers WR Chris Chambers was noticeably quiet on the field at the start of training camp but made some big plays during practice Tuesday, Aug. 4, and is showing he is a good pass catcher.

Footballguys view: Chambers has fallen a lot in the minds of FF players since he was considered a fantasy #1 WR for a short bit during his time in Miami. You can get him with a double digit round pick, and in a non-PPR league, he's worth it to see if he starts 2009 hot, since he does have one of the best QBs in the league throwing to him.

Chargers | Chambers is stepping up    Wed Aug 5, 06:09 PM

Kevin Acee, from the San Diego Union-Tribune, points out that not enough can be said about how important Chris Chambers was to the Chargers' succes in 2007. Then injuries stalled him last season. Up until Tuesday, Chambers had been having such a quiet camp that it was noticeable. But some big plays Tuesday and this morning showed he's still a great ball-catcher.

Footballguys view: What do we know about Chris Chambers? He's a fantastic player when healthy, but he's also very inconsistent. It sounds like other than Tuesday his play has been average. He's not the player he used to be, but if he can avoid the injury bug he should be an important target in this offense.

Chargers | Final year in San Diego for Chambers?    Sat Jul 11, 03:05 PM

Michael Lombardo, from SDBoltreport.com, reports the San Diego Chargers have several key players entering contract years in '09. And while the Chargers seem keen on locking up the likes of Philip Rivers, Marcus McNeill, Vincent Jackson and Shawne Merriman, there's another key contributor who's likely entering his last year in lightning bolts.

Footballguys view: Chambers, fellow starter Vincent Jackson, and #3 wide receiver Malcom Floyd are all free agents in 2010, so one way or the other, there will be some turnover in the Chargers WR corps.
