NFL | Leonte Carroo receives four-game ban Tue Jun 4, 04:44 PM
Free-agent WR Leonte Carroo (Dolphins) was suspended for the first four games of the 2019 season for an undisclosed violation Tuesday, June 4.
Footballguys view: It doesn't really matter as Carroo had gotten little to no interest on the open market. A third-round pick for the Dolphins in the 2016 NFL draft, Caroo was a bust with only 12 catches for 192 yards and two touchdowns. |

Footballguys view: Carroo was considered a possible Patriots claim with his Rutgers background, but ended up back in the Dolphins organization. Ford, a Matt Waldman favorite, was a summer star after getting hurt last year and he could still end up part of the active roster in the future. |

Miami Dolphins WR Leonte Carroo (knee) is expected to have minor knee surgery to 'clean up some issues.'
Footballguys view: A third-round pick in 2016, Carroo is on the roster bubble since he's only made 10 catches as a pro. He will miss minicamp next week as a result but he is expected to be ready for the start of training camp in July. |

Dolphins | Adam Gase talks Leonte Carroo Wed Feb 28, 01:49 PM
Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase discussed the progress of 2016 third-round WR Leonte Carroo at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine Wednesday, Feb. 28. 'We're still just bringing him along. Sometimes it's hard to find your role when you have those three guys we really don't want off the field,' Gase said. 'He's made some plays when we needed him to.'
Footballguys view: A third-round pick in 2016, Carroo has only caught 10 passes in two seasons with the Dolphins. It's difficult to see Carroo earning much playing time, even with changes ahead of him on the depth chart. |

Dolphins | Leonte Carroo in starting lineup Sun Oct 15, 12:00 PM
Miami Dolphins WR Leonte Carroo will be in the starting lineup in Week 6 in place of WR DeVante Parker (ankle).
Footballguys view: Carroo has done nothing of note in his one plus seasons in the NFL and this Miami pass offense is not a fertile place for fantasy production. Jarvis Landry is the only trustworthy play in the Dolphins offense today. |

Dolphins | Leonte Carroo back at practice Mon Aug 21, 08:55 PM
Miami Dolphins WR Leonte Carroo (hamstring) participated in practice Monday, Aug. 21, after missing practice last week because of a hamstring injury.
Footballguys view: Carroo, a third-round pick out of Rutgers last year, is currently buried on the depth chart as the no4 WR for the Dolphins (at best). His redraft value is non-existent, but Carroo is an interesting dynasty prospect to keep an eye on. |

Miami Dolphins WR Leonte Carroo (hamstring) returned to practice Monday, Aug. 21.
Footballguys view: A third-round pick out of Rutgers last year, Carroo has an intriguing skill set. He's a dynasty prospect to hold, but Carroo is buried on the depth chart in 2017 for the Dolphins. He's competing for the no4 spot behind Jarvis Landry, DeVante Parker and Kenny Stills. |

Dolphins | Leonte Carroo likely to make team Thu Jul 13, 11:14 AM
Updating previous reports, Miami Dolphins WR Leonte Carroo's chances of being cut are slim as the team traded up in the third round to draft him a year ago.
Footballguys view: He's going to have to hold off Rashawn Scott, Isaiah Ford, and Jakeem Grant (though Grant is more of a special teams player) to stick around. Even if he does, with Kenny Stills, DeVante Parker and Jarvis Landry around, Caroo is going to have a very hard time making an impact if he does stay on the roster. Aside from Dynasty, it is unlikely that Carroo will have fantasy impact this season. |

Dolphins | Leonte Carroo not a lock to make team Fri May 26, 01:46 PM
Miami Dolphins WR Leonte Carroo is expected to be the front-runner for the No. 4 receiver job, but it is far from certain he will make the team, according to the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson.
Footballguys view: Carroo may be the front-runner for the no4 job, but watch out for a guy like Rashawn Scott or Jakeem Grant behind him. Grant is more of the small-bodied, lightning quick returner while Scott plays a little like Allen Hurns. We'd be shocked if the team gave up on their third-round pick from the 2016 NFL draft. Carroo has the size/hands to be a reliable target but hasn't put it all together yet. He needs to be a better route runner as his speed won't get him separation at the pro level. |

Dolphins | Coach expects Leonte Carroo to improve Sun Apr 9, 06:51 PM
Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase said he believes WR Leonte Carroo can play better next season after struggling in 2016. Gase said he thinks he may have asked Carroo to do too much this season when he wanted Carroo to learn all three receiver positions.
Footballguys view: We've got our eyes on Carroo in dynasty leagues. A third-round pick in 2016, Carroo only made it onto the field for ten or more snaps in four games as a rookie. With the addition of TE Julius Thomas, Carroo is going to have a hard time finding a fantasy relevant role. The talent is there, but dynasty owners will have to be patient. |

Dolphins | Leonte Carroo impresses All-Pro CB Sun Sep 11, 08:51 PM
Miami Dolphins rookie WR Leonte Carroo made the start in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks, and he impressed CB Richard Sherman. 'Yeah, he was on me the whole game,' Carroo said Sunday, Sept. 11. 'He came up to me after the game and said, 'You're a hell of a player. Great job. You know I have a lot of respect for you, just being a rookie.' Because I was pretty physical with him in the run game and pass game.'

Dolphins | Leonte Carroo having a good camp Thu Aug 11, 07:51 PM
Miami Dolphins WR Leonte Carroo has been having a good camp, according to head coach Adam Gase, and the team is eager to see more. 'He's been making some positive plays,' Gase said. 'His biggest thing is mentally, what are we going to do? Is he going to keep growing? Are we going to get stuck? Are we going to have that rookie wall hit? He's going to keep rolling on that.'
Footballguys view: Carroo is an interesting rookie to keep an eye on. In college at Rutgers, Carroo was a deep target who does a good job of tracking passes over his shoulder. When developed, Carroo could be in the mix as a deep receiver this year. |

Dolphins | Leonte Carroo a coach favorite? Sun Jul 10, 08:07 AM
Miami Dolphins WR Leonte Carroo received first-team repetitions during minicamp and was head coach Adam Gase's first-hand selection in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Footballguys view: The Rutgers product is a favorite of our dynasty staff. Carroo missed four games in 2015 due to a high-ankle sprain and a suspension, but when he's on the field he can be consistently productive. His ability to get open--and get vertical--is apparent in his whopping 19.38 average yards-before-contact-per-reception. That is well above the FBS average of 11.41 yards, and ranked 5th for all WRs with 35 receptions or more in 2015. He may be behind Kenny Stills as the Dolphins No.3 WR entering training camp, but don't be shocked if (when?) Carroo passes the veteran. |

Dolphins | Leonte Carroo may see playing time Sun Jul 3, 05:01 PM
Miami Dolphins WR Leonte Carroo probably will receive playing time in 2016 as long as he continues to impress during training camp.
Footballguys view: The third-round pick out of Rutgers is one of the most intriguing rookie WRs in this draft class. Carroo had a whopping 79.5 percent of his receptions go for a TD or a first down in 2015 (by comparison, the average in the FBS was 60.3 percent). His 13.98 air-yards-per-target average was a result of Rutger's play-action passing and not due to Carroo's speed. He's savvy on long routes with the ball in the air but he can struggle to get vertical against faster CBs. Carroo could win the WR3 job behind Jarvis Landry and DeVante Parker on a Dolphins team that should have a strong passing attack under new head coach Adam Gase. |

Dolphins | Leonte Carroo to shed weight Thu Jun 23, 01:18 AM
Miami Dolphins WR Leonte Carroo made a favorable impressive on the coaching staff during the team's offseason program. He said Wednesday, June 22, that his first priority is losing weight. 'I'm 217 now, trying to get down to 210,' Carroo said. 'You become faster when you shed some pounds. I don't have any bad weight on me. That's what I was at the combine. Why not be as fast and explosive as I can be?'
Footballguys view: Carroo is a rugged receiver with speed who could push Kenny Stills for playing time by the end of the season. DeVante Parker has had a history of foot issues, so Carroo could also see more playing time if Parker struggles to stay healthy. Keep him on your rookie redraft waiver wire watch list. |

Dolphins | Sign two draft picks Tue May 24, 06:37 PM
Miami Dolphins WR Leonte Carroo and TE Thomas Duarte signed their four-year rookie contracts Tuesday, May 24. Financial terms were undisclosed.
Footballguys view: Carroo is a player to keep an eye on, and he's a rookie WR we loved watching on film. He's a big play waiting to happen, and Carroo plays with a good strength/speed combination. The Dolphins picked him up in the third round of the 2016 NFL draft, and this year he should win the WR3 job behind Devante Parker and Jarvis Landry. |

Dolphins | Miami selects Leonte Carroo Fri Apr 29, 10:48 PM
The Miami Dolphins selected Rutgers WR Leonte Carroo with the No. 86 overall pick in the third round of the 2016 NFL draft on Friday, April 29.
Footballguys view: Carroo is very competitive but had some off-field concerns. He could be an aggressive addition to this offense though he needs to improve his route running. |

NFL | Leonte Carroo shows good hands Thu Jan 28, 12:43 AM
Rutgers WR Leonte Carroo finished the day Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Senior Bowl practice showing his route running is better than expected. He also displayed soft, strong hands while using his big frame to block out defenders for the reception.
Footballguys view: Carroo does a good job of using his hands to separate at the line of scrimmage. He's got the concentration to catch off-target passes consistently, and Carroo is a willing run-blocker. He's shown the capability of running multiple routes, and this versatility will help his draft stock. |
