Chargers | Carr thankful for the opportunity Fri Jul 3, 08:58 PM
Michael Kranzler, from SDBoltreport.com, interviewed undrafted rookie WR Gregg Carr from Florida State who is now trying to make the Chargers roster. In the interview Carr revealed what he'd like Chargers fans to know about him, "Greg Carr is going to do whatever he can to the best of his ability to be the best player he can be, and he's very thankful for the opportunity to have a chance to play for the Chargers. "
Footballguys view: Greg Carr was a disappointment during his career at Florida State. He was a late addition to the Senior Bowl, but showed up at practice and his value was immediately evident. Unlike Ramses Barden, Carr knew how to use his big frame to shield defenders away from the ball and he had a tremendous "my ball" mentality in practice. He is buried on San Diego's depth chart, but just like Malcolm Floyd the Chargers could bring him along slowly (perhaps put him on the practice squad) and see if he could develop into something more than just a red zone target. |

Chargers | Sign 14 undrafted free agents Mon Apr 27, 07:20 PM
The San Diego Chargers have announced they signed undrafted free-agent OT Samuel Allen (Grand Valley State), RB Curtis Brinkley (Syracuse), WR Greg Carr (Florida State), WR Jeremy Childs (Boise State), LB Anthony Felder (California), OT Dan Gay (Baylor), WR Charles Martin (West Texas A&M), OG Ben Muth (Stanford), CB Wopamo Osaisai (Stanford), FB William Rentmeester (Wisconsin), WR Rodgeriqus Smith (Auburn), TE Kory Sperry (Colorado State), S C.J. Spillman (Marshall) and TE Jerimiah Wurzbacher (North Dakota State). Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: TE Kory Sperry is very athletically gifted, unfortunately he thinks he's better than he really is. He did nothing to stand out at the Texas Vs The Nation Game in El Paso, and will have to adjust his attitude to stick around in San Diego. Greg Carr is an interesting prospect that never lived up to the hype at Florida State. He is a huge receiver that will fight for the ball when it's in the air. He could contribute immediately as a red zone target if he can make the active roster on gameday. |
