Ravens | Brandon Carr financials    Thu Mar 16, 04:03 PM

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens CB Brandon Carr's four-year deal is worth $24 million. The likely deal is two years in length and worth $12 million, but there is a series of options that make it a four-year, $24 million deal.

Footballguys view: That's not too rich, and it shouldn't be since he struggled at times in Dallas. If he plays to potential, he's a nice fit here.

Ravens | Baltimore strikes deal with Brandon Carr    Thu Mar 16, 03:55 PM

Free-agent CB Brandon Carr (Cowboys) agreed to a four-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens Thursday, March 16. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Cowboys | Brandon Carr a priority for Dallas    Fri Feb 3, 10:46 PM

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent CB Brandon Carr should be the team's top priority this offseason, according to beat writer Todd Archer.

Footballguys view: The Cowboys will have both starting corners entering free agency. Morris Claiborne is younger, but Carr has been more durable. The Cowboys have a lot of players entering free agency and will have to make some hard choices in addition to being resourceful when evaluating other team's free agents.

Cowboys | Anthony Brown could be a starter    Mon Jan 30, 04:39 PM

Dallas Cowboys CB Anthony Brown may be forced into a starting role if either of impending free-agents CBs Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne don't return.

Footballguys view: Brown played both in the slot and outside because of injuries to starters in his rookie year, so he has a lot of experience for a sixth-rounder going into his second season. The Cowboys probably won't be able to keep both of their current starters, so the team will find out how ready he is whether they want to or not.

Cowboys | Josh Norman might be option in Big D    Wed Apr 20, 11:45 PM

The Dallas Cowboys might be interested in free-agent CB Josh Norman (Panthers) after CBs Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne posted zero interceptions in the calendar year.

Footballguys view: The Dallas secondary needs the help so, if they can find the cash, this is a good fit. Plus, arrogant players with chips on their shoulders are a thing for Dallas so, personality-wise, this is perfect.

Dallas Cowboys WR Brice Butler (hamstring) and LB Sean Lee (concussion) have been ruled out for the Week 10 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. DT Nick Hayden (ankle), LB Anthony Hitchens (ankle) and LB Rolando McClain (hand, foot) are listed as questionable for the game, and RB Rod Smith (illness), CB Brandon Carr (shoulder), SS Barry Church (ankle), DE Jack Crawford (hand), TE James Hanna (ankle), SS Jeff Heath (shoulder), DE DeMarcus Lawrence (back) are listed as probable. Lee, Butler and McClain did not practice Friday, Nov. 13, and Carr, Church, Hayden, Heath and Hitchens were limited participants in practice Friday.   Lions | Calvin Johnson to face Brandon Carr    Fri Jan 2, 04:20 PM

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson is expected to be covered by Dallas Cowboys CB Brandon Carr in the wild-card playoff game Sunday, Jan. 4. The last time the two faced off last year, Johnson had 14 catches for 329 yards and a touchdown. Carr was often left on an island against Johnson last year, when QB Matthew Stafford threw for 488 yards. Defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli said the Cowboys will make Johnson more of a focal point in their game plan this time around. 'I think we're going to be able to maybe give (Carr) more help than we did,' Marinelli said. 'And I feel like Brandon is a terrific corner and he's up for this challenge, but as a staff we've got to find ways to help him.'

Footballguys view: The Cowboys are going to do their best to slow down Johnson. However, the Lions best bet to win this contest is targeting Johnson early and often.

CB Morris Claiborne (knee) will not play in the game while CBs Sterling Moore (groin) and Tyler Patmon (hip) could miss the game because of injuries. CB Brandon Carr (personal) is not expected to rejoin the team until after the game.

Cowboys | Defensive philosophy has changed     Thu Jun 26, 03:28 PM

Dallas Cowboys CB Brandon Carr said the defensive philosophy has changed since last year, with the team being more aggressive on the back end. 'I think our philosophy has changed," Carr said. "Just want to be a little bit more aggressive in the back end, kind of put some more weight on our shoulders. It's always good to be playing with your guys for a second year. You kind of know each other better and know the scheme...I love (man-to-man defense). But I see the way the league is going nowadays; teams throwing it 50 times a game almost that it's always good to change (defenses) up, to throw in some zone...'

Footballguys view: Both Carr and Morris Claiborne are a far better fit in man coverage than zone, and the shift in philosophy will help them. How much it will help is debatable since the front-seven has so many injury issues. The corners could have to hang with receivers too long if the front can't generate pressure.

Cowboys | Brandon Carr wants to step up game    Thu Jun 26, 03:26 PM

Dallas Cowboys CB Brandon Carr wants to step up his game in 2014 and help motivate his defense. "I feel it just from within. You know I'm an introvert; I don't really deal with the outside noise. I just feel like this year it's time for me to step it up bigger than I have in my six years in the NFL and come out there and produce and make the plays on my side of the ball and also get my guys going, need to get my guys going this year."

Footballguys view: The Cowboys are going to need him to, given the disaster the front-seven appears to be. Carr was ill-suited to Monte Kiffin's zone coverage and is a better fit in the man coverage new DC Rod Marinelli will run, but it could be a put up or shut up year for the high priced corner.

Cowboys | Make-or-break year for Brandon Carr    Sat Jun 7, 05:34 PM

Dallas Cowboys CB Brandon Carr will likely need to perform well in order to remain with the team in 2015.

Footballguys view: Carr has been a disappointment since he signed with the Cowboys in 2012. He signed a 5-year, $50.10 million contract with the Cowboys, including a $10 million signing bonus, $25.5 million guaranteed, and an annual average salary just over $10 million. Carr has a cap number of just over $12.2 million this year. There is plenty of dead money left ($16.8 million in 2014, $12.1 million in 2015, and $7.4 million in 2016) so parting with Carr at any time in the near future is going to sting.

Cowboys | Brandon Carr admits he lacks some aggressiveness    Fri Dec 20, 03:32 AM

Since consecutive strong showings against the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles in October, Dallas Cowboys CB Brandon Carr has struggled to get back to that level of play. Carr, who did not practice Thursday because of an illness, said he's been spending long nights trying to find a solution. 'Just be more aggressive and just get back my mentality that got me into these doors,' Carr said. 'I feel like I kind of went away from that. Whatever, that's my fault. You get an opportunity to go out there Sunday and to prove yourself once again.'

Bears | Brandon Marshall likely to face Brandon Carr    Fri Dec 6, 01:31 PM

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall is likely to be matched up often against Dallas Cowboys CB Brandon Carr in Week 14. 'I don't like playing against Brandon Carr,' Marshall said. 'He presents a lot of tough challenges throughout a game. You'll notice he changes up his game when he plays against bigger receivers. He's strong. He's physical. He plays that way against guys like myself. I absolutely hate the matchup. It's like playing chess out there with him. Every single play is a battle. He just makes you work so hard.'

Footballguys view: Unheralded Oakland WR Andre Holmes put up 7-136 mostly against Carr on Thanksgiving, so we wouldn't fear playing Marshall in your lineup this week.
