Eagles | Ka'Deem Carey works out for Eagles    Mon Dec 18, 05:56 PM

Free-agent RB Ka'Deem Carey (Bears) worked out for the Philadelphia Eagles Monday, Dec. 18.

Footballguys view: The Eagles already have a solid group of RBs on the roster. They're likely working out Carey just to update their emergency list. The Bears waived Carey with an injury settlement back in early September.

Bears | Ka'Deem Carey undergoes surgery    Wed Aug 23, 06:26 PM

Chicago Bears RB Ka'Deem Carey (wrist) recently underwent wrist surgery and is expected to be sidelined for around six weeks.

Footballguys view: That makes him a candidate for the PUP list to begin the regular season. The Bears will have guys like Jeremy Langford, Benny Cunningham and rookie Tarik Cohen behind starter Jordan Howard on the depth chart.

Bears | Ka'Deem Carey on the bubble?    Sun Jul 23, 01:49 PM

Chicago Bears RB Ka'Deem Carey was left off ESPN.com Jeff Dickerson's 53-man roster projection.

Footballguys view: Carey appears to be a wasted fourth-round pick for the Bears. Three years in they have given him ample opportunity to make an impact, but he is unremarkable by NFL standards. Chalk this one up to Carey's lack of plus measureables and an inability to transcend very limited tools.

Bears | Jeremy Langford may be on bubble    Fri Jul 21, 06:23 PM

Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford will be on the roster bubble during training camp and is expected to compete with RB Ka'Deem Carey for a roster spot, in the opinion of ESPNChicago.com's Jeff Dickerson.

Footballguys view: Jordan Howard is the only guy you should be looking at here and our opinion reflects his ADP as 7th running back taken and 12th player taken overall in early drafts. That said we don't expect Carey to beat out Langford, as we've seen a little more from him and not from Carey.

  Bears | Ka'Deem Carey not a lock    Thu Jun 22, 10:30 AM

Chicago Bears RB Ka'Deem Carey isn't a lock to make the final roster, and he'll have to improve on special teams to enhance his chances of making the team.

Footballguys view: This isn't a shock considering how few and far between his carries were in 2016. It's Carey's final year on his rookie deal and with Jordan Howard the main back, there's a good chance Carey won't see that play out.

Bears | Ka'Deem Carey tallies 57 total yards    Fri Oct 21, 12:59 AM

Chicago Bears RB Ka'Deem Carey looked like the team's best option in the backfield for the second straight week, rushing 10 times for 48 yards while adding a nine-yard catch on his only target.

Footballguys view: Carey was faster through the hole and ran with better pace than Jordan Howard. It doesn't matter much until Jay Cutler is back, but Jeremy Langford could be back by then too. This is a backfield to avoid heading into a matchup with Minnesota.

Bears | Ka'Deem Carey works into a split?    Thu Oct 20, 02:04 AM

Chicago Bears RB Ka'Deem Carey (hamstring) ran nine times for 50 yards, splitting time with RB Jordan Howard in the Week 6 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team said in the offseason they would use a running back by committee approach, rolling with the hot hand, and that's what they did.

Footballguys view: This makes the situation even more murky and drives their value down. We think there is the potential that one of the two backs is a decent RB3 play, but there's no way to know for sure who it is. We lean towards Howard as Carey is not a starter in the NFL, but it's a risky situation.

Bears | Hot RB will be leaned on in Chicago    Mon Jul 18, 10:39 AM

Updating previous reports, Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford, RB Ka'Deem Carey, RB Jordan Howard and RB Jacquizz Rodgers will be part of a committee in the backfield, and head coach John Fox plans to limit their workloads and ride the hot hand. The team wants Langford to run with a wider base and gain more yards after contact. Carey needs to build on his toughness and become a more complete back. Both figure to be part of the committee approach. Howard adds a bruiser skill set in short-yardage and goal line situations.

Footballguys view: Ah, the dreaded 'hot hand' approach. Fantasy owners are used to dealing with RBBCs since they are rampantly used across the league. Dealing with the 'hot hand' is entirely more frustrating. Langford should be the lead back most weeks, but if Carey is used more near the goal line he could be the more valuable fantasy back in certain matchups. Howard may be the most naturally talented runner from this draft class (right up there with Ezekiel Elliott), but he has to stay healthy and get used to the speed/discipline of the NFL before we can count on him as a valuable fantasy asset. Proceed with caution when considering Chicago's backs.

Bears | Chicago to use committee backfield    Fri May 20, 02:23 PM

Chicago Bears RB Jeremy Langford will battle with RBs Jordan Howard, Ka'Deem Carey and Jacquizz Rodgers for touches in a crowded backfield during offseason workouts. Head coach John Fox is intent on running with a committee approach after the departure of RB Matt Forte. Langford has a leg up after scoring seven touchdowns in his rookie season. However, he had only 3.6 yards per carry and 1.13 yards after contact, which ranked second to last out of 47 players with 100 carries, according to ESPN Stats and Information. Langford must also work on improving his hands after struggling with drops in 2015. Howard's bruising style appeals to the team as a complement to Langford's speed. Carey is the only back that wasn't acquired by the current coaching staff, and he's being pushed to become more versatile and to play better on third downs. Rodgers it the veteran and could be trusted more than any other rusher on third downs early in the year.

Footballguys view: Langford is the most likely to have the most touches, but this approach will make week-to-week predictability a mess. None of the three backs are particularly talented and all have different strengths. Even with Langford's possible volume, he's a risky pick compared to backs in his ADP range like Giovani Bernard and Matt Jones.

Bears | Ka'Deem Carey in the mix    Wed Feb 24, 01:06 PM

Chicago Bears RB Ka'Deem Carey is liked by head coach John Fox, and the team appears thrilled about the duo of Carey and RB Jeremy Langford at running back.

Footballguys view: Langford should still get the better part of the committee, but Carey seems like the superior short yardage runner and could get more of the goal line work. Langford might be a bit overdrafted in the second/third round of early drafts.
