Redskins | Campbell to remain starting QB Mon Nov 9, 05:12 PM
The Associated Press reports Washington Redskins QB Jason Campbell will remain the team's starting quarterback heading into Week 10 against the Denver Broncos.
| Our view: Campbell actually played better as the game went on vs. the Falcons even though he left the game twice with injuries. |

Redskins | Campbell injured Week 9 Sun Nov 8, 03:48 PM

Redskins | Campbell sacked six times Week 7 Tue Oct 27, 12:19 AM
The Associated Press reports Washington Redskins QB Jason Campbell was 29-for-43 for 264 yards with two touchdown passes and an interception Week 7 against the Philadelphia Eagles. The interception was Campbell's seventh of the year. He was also sacked six times in the game.
| Our view: A lot of Campbell's yardage came in garbage with the Redskins down 17 points in the fourth. He's not the biggest thing wrong with the Redskins, but he's not one of the answers to their problems, either. |

Redskins | Campbell wasn't told he would remain starter Tue Oct 20, 10:52 PM
Brad Biggs, of the National Football Post, reports Washington Redskins QB Jason Campbell said he was not told he would remain the team's starting quarterback. Head coach Jim Zorn announced on his radio show Monday, Oct. 19, that Campbell would start Week 7. Campbell said, "I haven't been told that yet. I haven't talked to him about that, I don't know what to say about that, but I'm just going to get myself ready whether it's me or (QB Todd Collins)."

Redskins | Campbell to remain starting quarterback Tue Oct 20, 09:55 AM
Jason La Canfora, of NFL Network, reports Washington Redskins QB Jason Campbell will remain the team's starting quarterback for Week 7, according to a league source.
| Our view: Campbell was replaced by Todd Collins on Sunday, and may have a short leash once again this week. Collins didn't come in and wow the coaching staff, so that may be a reason why he's still the backup. Things are looking rough in Washington, and the Redskins have pegged Sherman Lewis as their new offensive playcaller. |

Redskins | Unsure of QB situation Mon Oct 19, 01:24 PM
Barry Svrluga and Jason Reid, of The Washington Post, report Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn said he is unsure which quarterback will start against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 7. QB Jason Campbell was replaced by backup QB Todd Collins Sunday, Oct. 18. 'Right now, I'm going to just evaluate what I'm going on,' Zorn said. 'I still have confidence in what Jason can do.'
| Our view: Coach Zorn said that the decision is entirely up to him, and we think the Redskins could choose not to make that decision public until right before kickoff. Collins didn't exactly blow the competition away when he came in the game, but the Redskins are in a tailspin and at this point are looking for something to mix things up and energize this team. |

CBSSports.com reports Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn was asked after the team's Week 6 game who the starting quarterback would be going forward. Redskins | Campbell benched vs. Kansas City Sun Oct 18, 02:58 PM
Washington Redskins QB Jason Campbell, after hitting nine of 16 passes for 89 yards with an interception, has been benched for backup QB Todd Collins.
| Our view: The Redskins struggled to move the ball in the first half and Jason Campbell was benched to start the second half. Collins has been effective thus far, but Washington is still struggling to score points. |

Redskins | Campbell throws three picks Week 4 Sun Oct 4, 05:31 PM
The Associated Press reports Washington Redskins QB Jason Campbell was 12-for-22 for 170 yards with two touchdown passes and three interceptions Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
| Our view: Campbell's job is probably safe, but he's not playing like an NFL starting quality QB right now. We wouldn't be surprised to see Todd Collins at some point this season. |

Redskins | Campbell says he will be able to play Thu Oct 1, 01:39 PM
Jason Reid, of The Washington Post, reports Washington Redskins QB Jason Campbell (ankle) said his left ankle is still sore but will be able to play in the team's Week 4 game.
| Our view: Campbell has a good chance to put up good numbers in back to back weeks. The Buccaneers secondary is weak, to say the least, and is a better matchup than what Campbell faced last week going up against the Lions. |

Redskins | Campbell wants to get Kelly more involved Wed Sep 30, 12:33 PM
Jason Reid, from the Washington Post, reports second-year wide receiver Malcolm Kelly is off to a slow start in his first season as the first-team flanker. Kelly impressed by catching passes in traffic in the preseason, but he has only six receptions for 65 yards in three games. "Malcolm is a very impressive young player, and we definitely want to get him more involved, but you can't force it," quarterback Jason Campbell said. "We have to play smart football, and Malcolm understands that. He knows you can't just throw the ball against certain coverages. You take what's there and you move on to the next play. But Malcolm is going to get opportunities."
| Our view: Kelly could be a big time playmaker for the Redskins, but the offense has seemed lost at certain times this year. The team is at an all-time low after losing to the Detroit Lions, and we'll have to wait and see if they can rally together and get this season back on track. |

Redskins | Campbell throws for 340 yards Week 3 Mon Sep 28, 12:34 AM
The Associated Press reports Washington Redskins QB Jason Campbell was 27-for-41 for 340 yards with two touchdowns and an interception Week 3 against the Detroit Lions.
| Our view: Over 200 yards of Campbell's production came in the second half as the Redskins tried to avoid being the Lions' first victim since 2007. Half of the yardage went to Santana Moss, who torched the Lions for nearly 200 yards receiving. |

Redskins | Campbell will start Week 3 Wed Sep 23, 07:14 PM
Jason Reid, of The Washington Post, reports Washington Redskins QB Jason Campbell (ankle) has "no doubt" he will start the team's Week 3 game. He was somewhat limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 23, because of a sprained ankle, but head coach Jim Zorn said he held Campbell out for precautionary reasons. Zorn said Campbell was held out from "some of the movement plays, just to not put a strain on his foot. But I would say he did all the things that he could."
| Our view: If the Redskins lose to the Lions, there might be some doubt about Campbell as the starter whether or not his ankle is healthy. |

Redskins | Campbell decent in Week 1 Sun Sep 13, 07:43 PM
The Associated Press reports Washington Redskins QB Jason Campbell went 19-for-26 for 211 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the team's Week 1 game.
| Our view: Campbell's one TD pass came with the Giants in the prevent, so this performance wasn't as good as it looks on paper. |

Redskins | Campbell throws for 209 yards Friday Sat Aug 29, 12:43 AM
The Associated Press reports Washington Redskins QB Jason Campbell was 13-for-22 for 209 yards during the team's preseason game Friday, Aug. 28, against the New England Patriots. Campbell was able to score a touchdown on a four-yard run in the second quarter.
| Our view: Campbell looked terrible against the Steelers, but he moved the offense at will against the Patriots. Campbell flashed the running ability that makes him an interesting late round pick as a backup if you have one of the stud QBs as your starter. We're not sure that Campbell will make it through the entire year as the starter, but he'll probably be there long enough to cover your #1 QB's bye week. |

David Elfin, of The Washington Times, repots Washington Redskins C Casey Rabach reached a playing time quota that voided the final year of his contract, which was due to run through 2010. As a result, Rabach will be an unrestricted free agent after the 2009 season. He will join QB Jason Campbell, CB Carlos Rogers, LB Rocky McIntosh and DE Phillip Daniels as the team's only starters headed towards unrestricted free agency.

Redskins | Zorn praises Campbell's decision-making Mon Aug 24, 07:16 PM
Jason Reid, of the Washington Post, reports that Redskins head coach Jim Zorn praised starting QB Jason Campbell's decision-making, even though Campbell only went 1-for-7 for 10 yards. Zorn liked Campbell's decision to throw away two screen passes that the Steelers defense diagnosed early. Zorn said, "I liked the effort. I'd like more accuracy."
| Our view: Sounds like lipstick on a pig to us. Campbell has had a poor preseason, but he is lucky to draw the Rams in week 2 and Detroit in week 3, so hopefully he can get some momentum going before the inevitable QB controversy starts in Washington. |

Redskins | Lombardi: Collins should be starter at QB Sun Aug 23, 12:46 PM
Michael Lombardi, of the National Football Post, reports that he thinks that Todd Collins gives the Redskins the best chance to win right now, and he, not Jason Campbell "needs to be made the starter".
| Our view: Lombardi has spent a lot of time around the league, and while he is just a commentator at this point, if he's thinking this, then others are too. With the vote of no confidence in Campbell put in by the organization in the offseason, it makes sense that Campbell could be on a short leash. We wouldn't trust him as your backup fantasy QB unless your starter is one of the elite three (Brady/Brees/Manning). |

Redskins | Campbell takes charge Wed Aug 5, 09:51 PM
ProFootballTalk.com is reporting Redskins QB Jason Campbell is taking charge like never before in practice, yelling at teammates and grabbing them in the huddle, when the need arises. And his attitude came through when Campbell spoke to the media on Wednesday. "We all have to be focused," he said. "Being a leader of a football team, practice goes the way you come out here and participate. You play upbeat. I'm coming out here, we're having fun and guys are paying attention to detail. Of course we make mistakes out here at the same time, but there are things you do to correct it. It's all about how you bounce back and continue to move forward."
| Our view: Jason Campbell was involved in nearly every trade scenario that involved a quarterback this offseason yet the 'Skins never found a willing trade partner. Instead of crying about it in the media and avoiding calls and text messages from his coach/owner, Campbell has stood strong and taken the high road. He's very aware that this could be his final season in Washington, but he's set to go out swinging. Campbell has had flashes here and there, but his overall game has lacked consistency. We'll see if a fired up Campbell can be a consistent Campbell. |

Redskins | Zorn confident in Campbell Tue Jul 28, 02:06 PM
The Washington Post notes head coach Jim Zorn is confident in quarterback Jason Campbell, despite the team trying to upgrade the position this offseason. "I think I've already seen what I'd want to see from Jason. I think I saw it in [organized team activities], in the minicamps, in the way he's handled himself," Zorn said. "I'm not going to sit back and analyze it every day of camp. He's already done very well. He was out here yesterday working just as hard as he was during the 'drama.' For him, it doesn't turn on or off. He said to himself: 'This is the way it is. Life isn't always fair, but I'm going to handle it. I'm going to keep working.' "
| Our view: The Redskins tried to get Jay Cutler and wanted to move into position to draft Mark Sanchez, but were unable to do either. Campbell has quietly worked through coaching changes his entire career, so it's not surprising that he would not let the trade talks get to him. We'll see if he can use that as motivation to become more consistent in 2009. |

Redskins | Campbell ready for breakout season? Mon Jul 13, 10:26 AM
Washington Redskins TE Chris Cooley said he believes QB Jason Campbell is ready to emerge as one of the NFL's top quarterbacks this season. 'Jason Campbell is so close to being one of the best QB's in the league; he will have a great year,' said Cooley, who filled in for SI.com's Peter King during his Monday Morning Quarterback column.
| Our view: It's a good thing his teammates believe in him because it seemed the Redskins tried to trade Campbell every other week this offseason. There have been recent reports that state second-year quarterback Colt Brennan may actually challenge for the starting spot but we think that's overblown. Yes, coach Jim Zorn is on the hot seat. Yes, this is probably Jason Campbell's last year in Washington. However, the team could rally around their coach and quarterback and perform better than expected. In the event that the team struggles we may see Brennan fill in for Campbell towards the end of the year, but we fully expect him to be the starter on opening weekend. |

Redskins | GM thinks Campbell hasn't proven that he is a franchise QB Thu Jul 2, 09:55 PM
Thomas George, of NFL.com reports that Redskins GM Vinny Cerrato is unsure that starting QB Jason Campbell is franchise quality. Cerrato said, "(It's) yet to be determined. Hopefully he is. We have talked honestly. It's past and we are looking forward. We hope he can play 16 games like he played the first eight last year. Consistency throughout.
| Our view: Campbell talks about how he was troubled by the Redskins interest in Jay Cutler and Mark Sanchez during the offseason. The Redskins have set themselves up in quite a pickle - if Campbell uses the lack of respect as motivation and plays like a franchise QB this year, he'll break the bank as a free agent, and he might not return to Washington. If he has another choppy campaign, the Redskins are unlikely to re-sign him. Either way, it looks like the team will have to find a new signalcaller in 2010. |

Redskins | Campbell won't hold a grudge Mon Apr 27, 03:53 PM
Ryan O'Halloran, of The Washington Times, reports Washington Redskins QB Jason Campbell said he doesn't plan to hold a grudge against the team's brass for trying to land QBs Jay Cutler and Mark Sanchez. He plans to take part in the team's upcoming minicamp. 'I'm ready to move forward and have one of my best years,' said Campbell, who is in the final year of his contract. He noted nothing was set in stone on what he would have done should the Redskins have landed another high-profile quarterback.
| Our view: Jay Cutler needs to take his cues from Jason Campbell - about trade talk anyway. Campbell has been involved in nearly every trade scenario involving a QB this offseason, and with the Redskins unable to trade up for Mark Sanchez the starting job is his once again. He is entering the final year of his contract and unless he plays some amazing football in 2009 he is more than likely done with the Redskins after the season. |
Jets | Could have interest in Campbell Fri Apr 24, 12:18 PM
David Elfin, of The Washington Times, reports the New York Jets would be interested in obtaining QB Jason Campbell from the Washington Redskins if they are unable to draft USC QB Mark Sanchez, who they are also pursuing.
| Our view: Finally! The most maligned QB of the offseason next to Brady Quinn has to be Jason Campbell. Both Quinn and Campbell have been involved in nearly every trade discussion before the draft. The Jets are setting themselves up just in case they can't trade with Jacksonville or Sanchez is gone to Seattle at the #4 pick. |

Steve Wyche, of NFL.com, reports Washington Redskins QB Jason Campbell will request to be traded if the team picks a quarterback in the 2009 NFL Draft.
