Lions | Andre Caldwell could make roster    Sat Jun 25, 01:40 PM

Detroit Lions WR Andre Caldwell looked comfortable and confident with his new team in early offseason practices. He has a legitimate chance to make the final roster, in the opinion of MLive.com's Mike Mulholland.

Footballguys view: The Lions wide receiver depth chart is wide open after Golden Tate and Marvin Jones. Veterans Jeremy Kerley and Andre Roberts are trying to get the slot receiver job along with youngster T.J. Jones. They also recently brought Anquan Boldin in for a visit, so this plot could thicken yet. Caldwell is steady, but lacks upside as a player, although his special teams contributions could give him an edge in a tight battle for one of the open spots at wide receiver.

Lions | Corey Fuller had surgery    Thu Jun 9, 05:37 PM

Detroit Lions WR Corey Fuller (foot) underwent foot surgery Wednesday, June 8, according to head coach Jim Caldwell. Caldwell said he doesn't know how long Fuller will be out. Fuller will compete with WRs Jeremy Kerley, T.J. Jones and Andre Caldwell, among others, for a roster spot.

Footballguys view: Fuller is in the mix for a reserve WR spot behind starters Golden Tate and Marvin Jones. Behind those two, any WR...even Fuller...can only be considered a WR4/WR5 at best.

Lions | Sign Andre Caldwell    Wed May 4, 07:29 PM

Free-agent WR Andre Caldwell (Broncos) signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions Wednesday, May 4, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Andre "Bubba" Caldwell had provided the Broncos with speed and depth at the WR position. He can return kicks too, and we expect him to play a similar role with the Lions.

Broncos | Jordan Norwood the No. 3 WR    Wed Sep 23, 02:31 PM

Denver Broncos WR Jordan Norwood has played 98 snaps on offense (65.3%) through the first two weeks of the season and is expected to continue as the team's No. 3 receiver in the near future. WRs Andre Caldwell (17% of snaps) and Cody Latimer (6%) have suffered as a result.

Footballguys view: Norwood is working as the slot receiver. This is a different plan than what was in place during the preseason where the talk was that Latimer would be on the outside and Emmanuel Sanders would man in the slot in certain formations. Norwood doesn't have a lot of fantasy value as the team is primarily leaning on Sanders and Demaryius Thomas.

Broncos | Andre Caldwell in a contract year    Mon Jul 20, 10:20 PM

Denver Broncos WR Andre Caldwell is in the final year of his contract. He will be battling other receivers for backup spots, but is believed to be at the top of the list for the No. 4 job. He could be especially useful if he works his way into a kickoff return job.

Footballguys view: Caldwell has not impressed when given a larger role with the Broncos. He's already been passed on the depth chart by Cody Latimer, and there's no guarantee that he makes the final roster.

Footballguys view: Thompson is the player to watch here. He'll suit up against the Jets, but it's going to be C.J. Anderson as the primary backup behind Ronnie Hillman this week. With Caldwell fully practicing, we may not see rookie Cody Latimer active (again).

Broncos | Andre Caldwell has knee injury    Mon Oct 6, 07:25 PM

Denver Broncos WR Andre Caldwell (knee) is dealing with a knee injury, and his status will be updated later this week.

Footballguys view: Sleeper alert! If he's limited or can't go in Week 6 against the New York Jets, WR Cody Latimer would return to the active roster for the first time since Week 1. We love the rookie's upside...especially in this pass-happy offense. If active, the team could use Latimer as a red-zone threat because of his size, wingspan and leaping ability.

Broncos | Wes Welker to return to slot    Wed Sep 17, 04:31 PM

Broncos | Andre Caldwell starting Week 1    Sun Sep 7, 06:51 PM

Denver Broncos WR Andre Caldwell is listed as a starter for Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts Sunday, Sept. 7, in place of the suspended WR Wes Welker. The team is expected to use a combination of WRs Emmanuel Sanders, Demaryius Thomas and even their running backs in the slot for Week 1. The team might also use two tight ends while using flex TE Jacob Tamme in the slot.

Footballguys view: Caldwell is looking like the safer PPR play, while Cody Latimer's rumored red zone involvement makes him the upside play in nonPPR leagues. Both are worth consideration as flex material simply by being one of Peyton Manning's targets tonight against a weak defense.

Broncos | Wide open behind Top 3 receivers    Wed Jul 16, 11:31 PM

Denver Broncos WRs Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker and Emmanuel Sanders will be the top three wide receivers, with WRs Andre Caldwell and Cody Latimer also in the plans. Undrafted WR Isaiah Burse has potential but will have to show some significant pop in the preseason games to earn a potential job as return man and possible sixth receiver.

Footballguys view: Latimer is the player to watch here. He's likely to be a starter in 2015 on the outside with Sanders moving into the slot next year. For this season, don't go overboard on Latimer but know the team may mix him in when they get near the red zone because of his size and wingspan. Latimer is a talented player who could have been a first-round pick.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas out of workouts    Wed Apr 9, 08:47 AM

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (shoulder) is not taking part in workouts with QB Peyton Manning and teammates at Duke University because of the shoulder injury he suffered in the Super Bowl. WRs Emmanuel Sanders, Wes Welker and Andre Caldwell are present with TE Julius Thomas.

Footballguys view: No surprise here. Thomas already has outstanding chemistry with Manning, and he doesn't need to risk further injury. He's in a contract season in 2014, and Thomas could break the bank this upcoming offseason with another monster year.

Broncos | Andre Caldwell re-signing    Tue Mar 11, 03:15 PM

The Denver Broncos are re-signing WR Andre Caldwell to a two-year deal worth as much as $3.45 million Tuesday, March 11, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Caldwell is locked in as the team's fourth receiver. Even if they lose Eric Decker we can't imagine Caldwell having a ton of fantasy value in 2014.

Broncos | Andre Caldwell could return    Sat Feb 15, 11:33 AM

The Denver Broncos may be willing to re-sign impending free-agent WR Andre Caldwell if they are comfortable with the price. The team probably does not see Caldwell as more than a No. 4 wide receiver at this point.

Footballguys view: Caldwell could leave the Broncos to find more opportunity. We don't think the market will be white hot for his services. He'll likely return to Denver for a good price. The Broncos have a larger decision when considering whether or not to bring back Eric Decker.

Broncos | Wes Welker will not play    Thu Dec 19, 06:47 PM

Denver Broncos WR Wes Welker (concussion) will not play Week 16 because of a concussion.

Footballguys view: So that's that. And it isn't a shock especially since the Broncos have Eric Decker, Demaryius Thomas and Julius Thomas. This game should be a lay-up win for them with or without Welker. He'll be back for the playoffs.

Broncos | Andre Caldwell expected to fill in    Wed Dec 18, 11:52 PM

Denver Broncos WR Andre Caldwell hauled in six catches for 59 yards and two scores in Week 15 against the San Diego Chargers, and he is expected to be the team's third receiver in Week 16 against the Houston Texans if WR Wes Welker (concussion) is inactive again.

Footballguys view: Caldwell was surprised himself to be so involved last week. He said after the game that he originally wasn't that heavily included into the original game plan. The Broncos liked what they saw with Caldwell's coverage and kept going his direction. We like him only as a "what the heck" flex in Week 16.

Broncos | Wes Welker not cleared    Wed Dec 18, 04:40 PM

Denver Broncos WR Wes Welker (concussion) has yet to be cleared from the concussion protocol, and head coach John Fox is calling him day-to-day. Welker must be symptom-free before he is approved to play in Week 16 against the Houston Texans. He must also go through multiple days of limited practice before returning to game action. WR Andre Caldwell is expected to be the team's third receiver this weekend.

Footballguys view: The Broncos can afford to be cautious with the veteran, since they have so many other options. Welker is likely to be unavailable for owners this week, so find another option.

Broncos | Tavarres King likely to start as No. 5 WR    Tue Aug 27, 12:59 PM

Denver Broncos WR Tavarres King continues to see work with the second-team offense, but he is expected to start the regular season as the team's No. 5 wide receiver behind WRs Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker, Eric Decker and Andre Caldwell.

Footballguys view: King has a bright future with the Broncos and is an interesting prospect to watch in super deep dynasty leagues. He's incredibly fast and has shown a better route running ability than expected out at camp. King could be counted on more next year if the Broncos lose Eric Decker in free agency.

Broncos | Andre Caldwell likely to earn roster spot     Mon Aug 6, 09:43 AM

Denver Broncos WR Andre Caldwell appears to be safely on the 53-man roster and should work extensively as a slot receiver.

Footballguys view: No question here. Caldwell has blazing speed and can line up inside as a slot WR or outside as a WR2. With the injury history of both Demaryious Thomas and Eric Decker there's a chance Caldwell could see significant playing time in 2012.

Broncos | Andre Caldwell excited to join Payton Manning     Thu Mar 22, 12:45 PM

Denver Broncos WR Andre Caldwell said that the team reached out to him before they knew QB Peyton Manning would join them; however, the presence of Manning 'played a big part' in his decision to sign with Denver.

Broncos | Andre Caldwell signs    Wed Mar 21, 08:17 PM

The Denver Broncos signed free-agent WR Andre Caldwell (Bengals) to a two-year contract Wednesday, March 21.

Bengals | Andre Caldwell might not be back    Tue Jan 10, 11:43 PM

Cincinnati Bengals WR Andre Caldwell is a free agent, and he might not be back with the team in 2012. He had only 37 catches and averaged just 8.6 yards per reception. He received a great opportunity when WR Jordan Shipley (knee) went down with a season-ending injury in Week 2, but he did not capitalize.

Footballguys view: Caldwell was outproduced by undrafted free agent Andrew Hawkins. He's never lived up to his potential and may have to move on from the Bengals in 2012.
