Saints | Travaris Cadet meets with New Orleans    Tue Oct 15, 02:36 PM

Free-agent RB Travaris Cadet (Panthers) worked out for the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Footballguys view: Cadet has spent most of his pro career with the Saints, and they're likely just updating their emergency list here. Alvin Kamara (ankle) is a little banged up, so perhaps the Saints want to add some depth behind Latavius Murray.

Bills | Two RBs may compete for one spot    Sat Aug 18, 12:47 PM

Buffalo Bills RBs Taiwan Jones and Travaris Cadet may be competing for one spot on the roster because RB Marcus Murphy appears to be a near lock for the 53-man roster, in the opinion of WKBW.com's Joe Buscaglia.

Footballguys view: Jones has bounced around from cornerback to running back during his pro career. He's certainly got quickness and moves to make defenders miss. Cadet is a swift runner who can be relied on as a receiver out of the backfield if need be.

Jets | Travaris Cadet joins NYJ    Tue Sep 26, 10:26 PM

Free-agent RB Travaris Cadet (Saints) signed an undisclosed contract with the New York Jets on Tuesday, Sept. 26, according to league sources.

Footballguys view: Cadet played under Jets OC John Morton back when the two were with the Saints. He's a pass-catching back (40 receptions in 2016) who could get some change-of-pace work. The signing of Cadet may take away some opportunity from rookie RB Eli McGuire.

Saints | Two Saints backs may not make it    Fri Jul 21, 10:40 AM

New Orleans Saints RB Travaris Cadet and RB Marcus Murphy are projected as roster cuts with RB Alvin Kamara's versatility.

Footballguys view: Cadet is adept at catching the ball out of the backfield but hasn't shown much as a runner, while Murphy isn't even special in that arena. Both of these potential cuts make a lot of sense. Kamara has excellent burst and good hands, which will make him the easy choice to keep over the other two. The rookie is going in early drafts as the 53rd running back off the board, with an overall ADP of 161.

Saints | Travaris Cadet could be moved    Sat Jun 10, 11:36 AM

The New Orleans Saints are looking into the possibility of trading RB Travaris Cadet before training camp, according to a source.

Footballguys view: The Saints are absolutely stacked in the backfield right now. They've got Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson as the top two backs with talented rookie Alvin Kamara as a developmental prospect behind them. Add in all-purpose guy Daniel Lasco and you can see how it's cramped for Cadet. We can't imagine the phone lines burning up for Cadet's services, but he may be on the trade block nonetheless.

Saints | C.J. Spiller a healthy scratch in Week 1    Mon Sep 12, 02:06 PM

New Orleans Saints RB C.J. Spiller was a healthy scratch in Week 1, according to head coach Sean Payton, who also stated RB Travaris Cadet was going to have a bigger role on offense and rookie Daniel Lasco was going to contribute more on special teams.

Footballguys view: So much for a fully healthy Spiller doing anything for the Saints. He's safe to drop for those who took him as a 'lottery ticket' pick.

Saints | Running backs fighting for roster spots    Sun Jul 17, 01:42 PM

New Orleans Saints RBs Travaris Cadet, Daniel Lasco and Marcus Murphy will all be battling for a spot on the final roster, with Cadet being the most likely to make the team.

Footballguys view: Cadet may have the edge due to his pro experience, but we like the idea of Lasco earning a spot on the 53-man roster. Lasco was an all-purpose back in college at Cal, and he does everything well. He's not a pile-pusher, but Lasco is an efficient runner who does a good job following his blocks. Lasco is also good on special teams. Even if he doesn't make the team, we feel the Saints should keep him around as a developmental prospect on the practice squad.

Saints | NOLA backup RB spots up for grabs    Wed Jun 22, 11:39 PM

New Orleans Saints RBs Travaris Cadet, Daniel Lasco, Marcus Murphy are likely to jockey for the spots behind RBs Mark Ingram, Tim Hightower and C.J. Spiller. Murphy and Lasco benefit special teams, with Murphy as a return man and Lasco for coverage. Cadet might also crack the roster as a runner, receiver and return man, and the final spot might come down to Cadet and Murphy and who is hotter in training camp and the preseason.

Footballguys view: Murphy has receiving ability and could vie for the role CJ Spiller has been lackluster in so far in New Orleans. Lasco is a SPARQ freak who has top-end athleticism, but an injury-marred 2015 caused him to drop in the draft. Cadet has the most experience in the offense and could be the most productive in a receiving role. It looks like Tim Hightower will be the handcuff to Mark Ingram no matter who wins this fourth running back spot.
