NFL | Reggie Bush ready to call it a career    Sat Dec 16, 12:11 PM

Free-agent RB Reggie Bush told NFL Total Access on Friday, Dec. 15, that his career has come to an end.

Footballguys view: Bush hasn't played all year and couldn't find a team willing to take a chance on him after his 2016 season with the Bills that ended with him having negative rushing yards. The second-overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft, Bush had incredibly high expectations coming out of USC. He ends his career with 5,490 rushing yards, 36 rushing touchdowns, 477 catches, 3,598 receiving yards and 18 receiving touchdowns.

NFL | Reggie Bush still wants to play    Mon May 22, 04:29 PM

Free-agent RB Reggie Bush (Bills) believes he has a lot left to prove in the NFL and wants to continue his playing career. Bush added that he's still working out, staying in shape and looking forward to playing football 'this season.'

Footballguys view: Last year was a bad season for the veteran back. He only carried the ball 12 times for minus-3 yards with the Bills. His last 1,000 yard season was in 2013, and Bush simply isn't the player he used to be. Bush has spoken to a few prospective teams, but he's going to be patient and make sure he makes the right decision.

Bills | Reggie Bush unlikely to return    Sat Feb 18, 04:35 PM

Bills | Two Bills RBs to serve as backup    Sat Nov 26, 05:43 PM

Buffalo Bills RBs Jonathan Williams and Reggie Bush will see playing time behind RB LeSean McCoy in Week 12 since RB Mike Gillislee (hamstring) is ruled out.

Footballguys view: McCoy (thumb) is dealing with his own injury but should be able to carry his normal workload. We appreciate Williams and have a lot of interest in the rookie RB, but only in dynasty formats. If McCoy's thumb is even the slightest issue, then perhaps Bush would get worked in as a change-of-pace back. McCoy should post RB1 numbers against the Jags on Sunday.

Bills | Reggie Bush to play receiver?    Fri Sep 30, 11:10 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Reggie Bush has plays designed for him to play slot receiver, according to head coach Rex Ryan, and Ryan said Bush's role in the offense will change on a weekly basis.

Footballguys view: The Bills offense isn't the most creative in the NFL. Bush may be used as a receiver, but we can't recommend him as a fantasy option.

Bills | Reggie Bush could be released    Tue Sep 27, 11:45 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Reggie Bush's spot on the roster could be in trouble, according to ESPN's Mike Rodak. Bush was active but did not play in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Footballguys view: Stay tuned here as the primary backup to LeSean McCoy could end up being Mike Gillislee. The Bills will need to clear room after Week 4 when both DT Marcell Dareus and OT Seantrel Henderson return from suspension.

Bills | Reggie Bush expected to win No. 2 RB job    Sat Aug 20, 05:51 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Reggie Bush has been considered the favorite to serve as the direct backup for RB LeSean McCoy since the former was signed earlier this month, even before the release of Karlos Williams, according to ESPN.com's Mike Rodak.

Footballguys view: Bush hasn't done anything meaningful on the field for over a year, with only 12 touches last year, so he's not really worth running out to get as a handcuff to McCoy. He'll be on the waiver wire watch list to open the season, but we suspect that he would yield to another back soon enough if he was asked to play a significant number of snaps.

Bills | Reggie Bush expected to sit    Fri Aug 12, 07:33 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Reggie Bush is not expected to play in the preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts Saturday, Aug. 13.

Footballguys view: Bush is primarily going to be a return man for the Bills. The veteran doesn't need a ton of reps in the preseason, and we may not see much of him before the start of the regular season. Even when the games count, we're not expecting a fantasy-relevant role for Bush in 2016.

Bills | Reggie Bush financials    Sat Aug 6, 07:02 PM

Buffalo Bills RB Reggie Bush will earn a $1 million base salary in 2016, in addition to a $375,000 signing bonus and a $125,000 roster bonus. Overall, the veteran's salary cap number will be worth $1.5 million.

Footballguys view: Bush will very likely make the roster, but mainly as a return specialist and possibly passing down back. He will help while Karlos Williams is suspended, but probably not have fantasy relevance at any point this year.

Bills | Reggie Bush joining Buffalo    Mon Aug 1, 04:49 PM

Free-agent RB Reggie Bush (49ers) agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills Monday, Aug. 1, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: At 31-years old, Bush is expected to compete with veteran Mike Gillislee and rookie Jonathan Williams for a backup role behind LeSean McCoy in training camp. Even if he's not the true backup behind McCoy, Bush could give them a change-of-pace look if needed.

Bills | Buffalo close to adding Reggie Bush    Mon Aug 1, 03:50 PM

Free-agent RB Reggie Bush (49ers) is close to agreeing to a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills.

Footballguys view: The Bills could use Bush as veteran depth and perhaps as a change-of-pace back behind starter LeSean McCoy. We should see guys like Jonathan Williams or Mike Gillislee compete to be McCoy's primary backup.

Bills | Reggie Bush visiting Bills, could sign    Mon Aug 1, 09:00 AM

Free-agent RB Reggie Bush (49ers) is visiting the Buffalo Bills Monday, Aug. 1, and he's expected to sign with the team if he passes a physical.

Footballguys view: Bush will help on passing downs while Karlos Williams is suspended, and he could be a kick or punt returned. He was supposed to play a sizable role for San Francisco last year, but could not stay healthy.

Bills | Buffalo makes Reggie Bush an offer    Mon Jul 18, 01:05 PM

Updating previous reports, the Buffalo Bills have put out an offer to free-agent RB Reggie Bush (49ers), but Bush is weighing his options and is in no rush to make a decision, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Bush played in just five games last year before suffering a season-ending knee injury.

Footballguys view: We may see Bush find a new home before the start of training camp, and it may be with the Bills. The team has interest in adding a back due to Karlos Williams' four-game suspension and rookie Jonathan Williams arrest for DWI last week. If signed, Bush will compete with those two plus Mike Gillislee for the primary backup job behind LeSean McCoy.

Bills | Reggie Bush interests Bills    Mon Jul 18, 11:34 AM

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Reggie Bush (49ers) has drawn interest from the Buffalo Bills. Bush is still weighing his options.

Footballguys view: The Bills have a talented group of RBs, but there's some problems that could open the door for a veteran like Bush to be added. Karlos Williams has been suspended the first four games of the year and rookie Jonathan Williams was recently arrested for DWI which could lead to league discipline. If added, Bush would compete to be a reserve RB behind starter LeSean McCoy.

Bills | Reggie Bush an option for Buffalo?    Fri Jul 15, 04:24 PM

Free-agent RB Reggie Bush (49ers) could be an option for the Buffalo Bills because of RB Karlos Williams' four-game suspension, in the opinion of CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora.

Footballguys view: We're not crazy about this idea, but the Bills may want to add a veteran back. We like rookie Jonathan Williams as a player all dynasty owners need to add or at least monitor. Add in veteran Mike Gillislee, and the Bills go four deep at the position (when Karlos Williams is not suspended).

Saints | Reggie Bush won't land with Saints    Tue Jul 12, 09:41 AM

Free-agent RB Reggie Bush (49ers) has no interest from the New Orleans Saints, according to head coach Sean Payton.

Footballguys view: The Saints don't need a change-of-pace back as they already have C.J. Spiller in the fold. Last year was a bad year for Bush with the 49ers, and he's gotten little interest on the open market. Perhaps when injuries strike in training camp, Bush will get an offer from some team out there.

NFL | Reggie Bush has received interest    Thu Jun 23, 02:19 PM

Free-agent RB Reggie Bush (49ers) has received calls from two teams, but he hasn't made a decision on where he'll play in 2016.

Footballguys view: Bush was a non-factor in 2015 and he has only appeared in 16 games over the last two seasons. He would have to land in a plum situation opened up by injury to even get on our radar this year.

49ers | Reggie Bush recovering nicely    Tue Feb 9, 07:27 PM

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent RB Reggie Bush's (knee) rehabilitation is going well. He is scheduled to start running in two weeks and does not plan to retire this offseason.

Footballguys view: That's good news for Bush, but the market is likely to be quite cool for his services. If healthy (and cheap enough), there might be a team willing to bring him on board as a change-of-pace back.

49ers | Reggie Bush not retiring    Mon Feb 8, 10:48 AM

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent RB Reggie Bush (knee) said he will not retire this offseason.

Footballguys view: The market is full of talented RBs and Bush isn't the same player he used to be. We can't imagine teams being lined up around the corner to sign Bush, but there should be a fit out there where Bush can be a change-of-pace back.

49ers | Reggie Bush had meniscus surgery    Wed Nov 18, 03:58 PM

San Francisco 49ers RB Reggie Bush (knee) said he had surgery to fix a torn meniscus and not on his anterior or medial collateral ligaments in his knee.

Footballguys view: Bush hurt his knee on the concrete ring around the Rams stadium. Since then, they have covered that problem area.

49ers | Pierre Thomas replacing Reggie Bush    Tue Nov 3, 02:52 PM

San Francisco 49ers RB Pierre Thomas is essentially taking over for RB Reggie Bush (knee) as San Francisco's passing-down back. Thomas caught 45 passes last season, averaging 8.4 yards per catch.

Footballguys view: Thomas could be the most fantasy relevant back with the 49ers, but that's not saying much. Carlos Hyde is dealing with a stress fracture in his foot, Reggie Bush is out for the year with a knee injury and Mike Davis needs surgery on his broken hand. We'll see how the time/touches are split in the backfield going forward, but we are avoiding the 49ers offense like the plague.

49ers | Reggie Bush out of the game    Sun Nov 1, 01:55 PM

San Francisco 49ers RB Reggie Bush (knee) suffered a left knee injury after he slipped on concrete on the sidelines during the team's Week 8 game. He was carted to the locker room and is considered questionable to return.

Footballguys view: Josh McCown took a hard spill on the same area last week. The Bush era in the San Francisco backfield didn't even last a quarter. Mike Davis will get starter's work now, with recent practice squad call-up Kendall Gaskins figuring in.

49ers | Reggie Bush to start against Rams    Fri Oct 30, 05:53 PM

San Francisco 49ers RB Reggie Bush will receive the start against the St. Louis Rams in Week 8 with RB Carlos Hyde (foot) ruled out. Bush will share carries with rookie RB Mike Davis. RB Jarryd Hayne is also more likely to be active this week after sitting in Week 7.

Footballguys view: Bush is still a marginal flex play at best. The Rams defense is stifling and shouldn't allow much to the 49ers. Bush could compile some points in PPR leagues as a checkdown, but that has never been Colin Kaepernick's forte as a passer.

San Francisco 49ers RB Reggie Bush (calf) appears to have a good chance to play in the Week 7 game against the Seattle Seahawks.
