  Jaguars | Waive 14    Fri Aug 29, 05:10 PM

The Jacksonville Jaguars waived C Mike Brewster, OG Drew Nowak, DE Gerald Rivers, QB Ricky Stanzi, WR Chad Bumphis, OT Cody Booth, DT DeAndre Coleman, DT Ricky Havili-Heimuli, S Craig Loston, QB Stephen Morris, P Kasey Redfern, OG Tyler Shatley, TE D.J. Tialavea and LB Marcus Whitfield Friday, Aug. 29.

Footballguys view: Morris might be able to stick around on the practice squad. He's a good athlete with a strong arm. His mechanics are nearly flawless when the pocket is clean, but his game falls apart under pressure.

Jaguars | Ten signed to futures contracts    Tue Dec 31, 12:05 AM

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed TE Brandon Barden, WR Chad Bumphis, RB Shaun Chapas, OT DeMarcus Love, S Sherrod Martin, DE Will Pericak, DE D'Aundre Reed, WR Jabin Sambrano, QB Matt Scott and C Matt Stankiewitch to futures contracts Monday, Dec. 30.

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners in super deep dynasty leagues need to keep an eye on Scott here. He's an incredibly athletic quarterback with a strong arm. Scott has elite rushing ability and can keep plays alive with his feet. He's raw, but has intriguing developmental upside.

Patriots | Work out 11 players    Fri Sep 6, 06:44 PM

The New England Patriots worked out free-agent QB Austin Davis (Rams), QB B.J. Coleman (Packers), QB Graham Harrell (Jets), RB Damien Berry (Ravens), RB Jonathan Dwyer (Steelers), RB Cameron Marshall (Dolphins), WR Josh Bellamy (Chiefs), WR Chad Bumphis (Dolphins), DT Sione Fua (Panthers), DT Clinton McDonald (Seahawks) and DT Andre Neblett (Buccaneers) Friday, Sept. 6.

Footballguys view: Dwyer is the most talented name on the list, but the Patriots are only doing these tryouts to have a pool of players to choose from if they suffer injuries at these positions.

Dolphins | Make roster moves    Sat Aug 31, 10:21 PM

The Miami Dolphins have released LB Austin Spitler, DL Kheeston Randall, WR Chad Bumphis, WR Brian Tyms, WR Keenan Davis, WR Marvin McNutt, DE Antwan Applewhite, CB De'Andre Presley, RB Jonas Gray, CB Julian Posey, S Keelan Johnson, S Jordan Kovacs, LB Lee Robinson, OG Chris Barker, C Sam Brenner, DE Tristan Okpalugo, OT Andrew McDonald, DT A.J. Francis and DT Tracy Robertson. The team also injured waived QB Aaron Corp (undisclosed) and OT Jeff Adams (undisclosed).

Footballguys view: McNutt was the player to note here offensively. He's big and has a large wingspan but has failed to gain much separation on his routes as a pro.

Dolphins | Chad Bumphis favorite for starting job    Fri Aug 23, 07:26 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Chad Bumphis appears to be the leading candidate for the No. 5 wide receiver job but could be push by WR Marvin McNutt for the job.

Footballguys view: Bumphis is a solid slot receiver/returner type, but he doesn't have much long-term potential in deep dynasty leagues.

Dolphins | Chad Bumphis making case to stay    Tue Aug 6, 07:45 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Chad Bumphis is making his case to win a roster spot, and receivers coach Ken O'Keefe has told Bumphis all about how former WR Davone Bess (Browns) came to the team in a similar situation back in 2008. 'He said, 'Davone came in undrafted and was able to contribute',' Bumphis said. 'I said, 'That could be me.'' Bumphis had five grabs for 85 yards in the team's first preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys, and an error on a route resulted in an interception return for touchdown, too.

Footballguys view: Bumphis looked good in the team's first preseason game. He's competing for a backup job behind Brian Hartline, Mike Wallace, and Brandon Gibson.

Dolphins | Several new candidates for bigger roles    Sun Jul 28, 10:50 PM

The Miami Dolphins learned Sunday, July 28, that WR Armon Binns (knee) is out for the season, and WR Rishard Matthews (undisclosed) will be sidelined several weeks with an undisclosed ailment. The two were considered the favorites for the No. 4 and 5 receiver jobs. With those two on the shelf, WRs Chad Bumphis, Jasper Collins, Jeff Fuller, Marvin McNutt, Andrell Smith, Kenny Stafford and Brian Tyms all find themselves competing for a bigger piece of the pie in training camp and the preseason. Matthews could still end up being the team's No. 4 receiver unless he is forced to start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

Footballguys view: Tight end Dustin Keller is really the team's #3A wide receiver, along with Brandon Gibson. After that, the team's depth is unproven and depleted.
