Saints | Dez Bryant placed on IR    Sat Nov 10, 01:22 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Dez Bryant (Achilles') was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Nov. 10.

Footballguys view: The Saints just signed Bryant last week. Expect them to go back to the veteran free agent pool for help at the position. They had Brandon Marshall and Kamar Aiken in the same day that Bryant worked out...and reports indicate Marshall may be signed in the near future. Stay tuned.

Saints | Dez Bryant to miss eight months    Sat Nov 10, 12:57 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Dez Bryant's (Achilles) MRI confirmed a torn Achilles' tendon, and he is expected to be sidelined for around eight months, according to a source.

Footballguys view: This means Bryant will be ready by training camp next year. He signed only a one-year deal with the Saints so we'll have to see if he can generate interest next offseason on the open market...while recovering from an Achilles' injury at 30-years old.

Saints | New Orleans could sign Brandon Marshall    Sat Nov 10, 01:22 AM

The New Orleans Saints could sign free-agent WR Brandon Marshall (Seahawks) if WR Dez Bryant (Achilles') did indeed suffer a torn Achilles' tendon in practice on Friday, Nov. 9, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Footballguys view: Marshall worked out for the Saints on Tuesday, the same day that Bryant did. The Saints signed Bryant because they need more from the wide receivers behind Michael Thomas. Rookie Tre'Quan Smith has flashed some interesting ability but behind him there's little left with Cameron Meredith on Injured Reserve. Marshall could give them veteran depth. He caught 11 passes for 136 yards and one touchdown in seven games for the Seahawks this year.

Saints | Dez Bryant may have torn Achilles'    Fri Nov 9, 03:45 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Dez Bryant (Achilles') suffered an injury in practice Friday, Nov. 9, that we acquired him to be helped off the field. Bryant is expected to undergo an MRI soon, but the team fears Bryant may have suffered an Achilles' tear.

Footballguys view: The team is usually right when they fear this kind of injury, so we can drop Bryant. His 2018 is likely over before it started. Tre'Quan Smith should be added if he was dropped on the Bryant signing news.

Saints | Dez Bryant expected to miss Week 10    Fri Nov 9, 01:30 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Dez Bryant is expected to sit out the Week 10 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to a report Friday, Nov. 9. The Saints would like to see Bryant lose some weight and become more comfortable with the offense.

Saints | Dez Bryant's Saints debut up in air    Thu Nov 8, 12:05 PM

New Orleans Saints WR Dez Bryant has begun work with his new team after signing Tuesday, Nov. 6, but head coach Sean Payton declined to commit to Bryant playing in Week 10. 'We'll see,' Payton said on a media conference call Thursday, Nov. 8. 'It would be hard for me to comment not having had a practice yet. But we'll take a peek and see how he does today and tomorrow, and then we'll fill you in Sunday.'

Footballguys view: Bryant would be a boom/bust WR3/Flex if he does play, but Cameron Meredith was not getting much in the way of targets or snaps in the role and Bryant would be eased in with his conditioning and familiarity with his role unknown.

Saints | Dez Bryant terms    Thu Nov 8, 10:42 AM

Saints | Dez Bryant agrees with Saints    Wed Nov 7, 11:39 AM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) agreed to a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints Wednesday, Nov. 7. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Footballguys view: Bryant has been out of action all season long as he was looking for the right landing spot. He gets that with a great opportunity in New Orleans. His signing is bad news for rookie Tre'Quan Smith. We should see Smith's targets go down when Bryant is up to speed. Bryant could produce like a WR3 or flex option with upside for Fantasy GMs.

Saints | Dez Bryant to work out for Saints    Mon Nov 5, 08:23 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) is scheduled to work out for the New Orleans Saints Tuesday, Nov. 6, according to sources.

Footballguys view: The Saints are just updating their emergency list here. Bryant hasn't gotten much attention on the open market for some time and he's stayed patient, reportedly turning down an offer from Baltimore earlier this year. The Saints look like they can make a Super Bowl run and that should be quite attractive to the veteran receiver.

Texans | Houston unlikely to pursue Dez Bryant    Fri Oct 26, 02:40 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) likely will not receive interest from the Houston Texans even after WR Will Fuller (knee) suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Footballguys view: Terrelle Pryor is the only other free agent wide receiver that could be a fit, but he is a long shot. The Texans could still make a move here, but probably one that is unlikely to make a splash in fantasy leagues.

Cowboys | Dallas unlikely to re-sign Dez Bryant    Fri Oct 5, 07:33 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) is not an option for the Dallas Cowboys at this time, according to owner/general manager Jerry Jones.

Footballguys view: Bryant has been talking about signing with 'someone' soon...but that was a couple of weeks ago. Recent reports speculated a return to Dallas would be in order, but it doesn't seem like Jones is ready to sign Bryant back at this time. Bryant has been looking for a new team since the Cowboys released him back in mid-April.

NFL | Dez Bryant hoping for Dallas reunion?    Thu Oct 4, 01:21 AM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) tweeted on Tuesday, Oct. 2, that he prefers to return to the Dallas Cowboys but would be open to playing elsewhere if that wasn't an option. According to Ed Werder, however, the team is not interested in re-signing Bryant.

Footballguys view: Bryant probably could have been dropped without remorse in dynasty leagues at this point. Either his demands are out of whack or the league just doesn't think much of him right now.

NFL | Dez Bryant expects to sign soon    Sat Sep 29, 12:26 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) said he expects to sign with a team in the near future.

Footballguys view: Does he mean with an NFL team in real life or on Madden? The interest just doesn't seem to be there with Bryant. Reports have surfaced about teams questioning how much he wants to play football at this point of his career. Bryant is positive about his situation but we'll take a more skeptical view...it still may be some time before Bryant finds a new home. Stay tuned.

Browns | Cleveland may not pursue Dez Bryant    Sat Sep 15, 09:40 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant's (Cowboys) desire to play football is question mark for the Cleveland Browns, who have been linked to the mercurial receiver before and after the news of Josh Gordon's impending release.

Browns | Dez Bryant may be option for CLE again    Thu Sep 6, 02:23 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) may receive interest from the Cleveland Browns again after Week 1 because only 25 percent of his salary would be guaranteed if he was released for some reason, according to a source. The two sides talked because the season, but they were not close on a salary.

Footballguys view: We're not sold that Bryant would add much, if anything, to the mix in Cleveland. Jarvis Landry will get the lion's share of targets and rookie Antonio Callaway along with Josh Gordon will get the rest. There's also tight end David Njoku. Whether quarterback Tyrod Taylor can take advantage or not is another discussion, but if Bryant signs in Cleveland, his impact will be minimal.

NFL | Dez Bryant waiting for right situation    Tue Aug 28, 08:48 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) indicated on Twitter he is content with waiting until the right situation, even if it means sitting out games into the regular season. 'I will play ball this year just might be a lil bit later in the year,' Bryant said.

Footballguys view: Bryant may get another chance in the NFL...later in the year. Right now, Fantasy GMs should look elsewhere for late-round 'flier' picks. Keep Bryant on your waiver wire speed dial if things heat up for him later in the regular season.

Browns | Cleveland remains interested in Dez Bryant    Fri Aug 24, 02:25 AM

The Cleveland Browns still hope to sign free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) to a contract, according to Mike Silver of NFL Media.

Footballguys view: Josh Gordon has returned to the team and should be ready to play early in the regular season if not Week 1. Even with Gordon's return, the Browns could still add a veteran like Bryant to the mix. At this point, Cleveland seems to be the only team interested in his services.

Browns | Dez Bryant unlikely to join Browns now    Sat Aug 18, 05:45 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) is no longer on the front burner for the Cleveland Browns, and the two sides are not expected to reach an agreement anytime soon, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Reporters speculate one thing and the head coach says another. Head coach Hue Jackson has said the team is still open to signing Bryant even though WR Josh Gordon returning. Who knows what happens, but the urgency to get Bryant had to take a hit with Gordon's return.

Browns | Dez Bryant still an option for CLE    Sat Aug 18, 04:01 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) is still an option for the Cleveland Browns even though WR Josh Gordon has rejoined the team, according to head coach Hue Jackson.

Footballguys view: Some felt Gordon's return to the team immediately meant Bryant was not going to be an option for the Browns anymore. That may not be the case according to Jackson, so Fantasy GMs need to take a wait-and-see approach with this situation.

Browns | Dez Bryant talks end without a deal    Fri Aug 17, 01:18 PM

Updating a previous report, free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) and the Cleveland Browns were unable to reach a contract agreement after two days of face-to-face negotiations concluded Friday, Aug. 17. However, 'conversations continue' between the two sides, according to a source speaking on the condition of anonymity.

Footballguys view: Bryant could still sign, but if the Browns were seriously concerned about Josh Gordon, they would have moved quicker and probably not let Bryant leave without a contract. At this point, it is possible that Bryant starts the season a free agent.

Browns | Dez Bryant, CLE may not get deal done now    Thu Aug 16, 05:39 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant's (Cowboys) visit with the Cleveland Browns Thursday, Aug. 16, may be more about the two sides getting to know each other better than it is to reach a contract agreement, according to a source. Bryant is believed to be looking for a one-year deal, which would allow him to show he is still a Pro Bowl-caliber player.

Footballguys view: What role Bryant has is a big question here and it hinges upon what happens with Anthony Calloway and any potential suspension and when Josh Gordon returns. Bryant looks like a shadow of himself, but he might provide a little bit of production as very late round flier in deeper leagues.

Browns | Dez Bryant plans to meet with CLE    Thu Aug 9, 08:10 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) said on his Twitter page that he plans to meet with the Cleveland Browns next week.

Footballguys view: It's difficult to picture Bryant making a big impact for the Browns or any other team now that he has effectively missed training camp. He's on the fringe of draftable players in redraft leagues.

Browns | Dez Bryant not returning Browns' calls    Thu Aug 9, 06:10 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) is not returning phone calls from the Cleveland Browns, according to Browns general manager John Dorsey. Dorsey said the team would meet with Bryant next week if he communicated with them.

Footballguys view: It's a very bizarre thing to do for a guy who says he wants to play. He wouldn't have a massive role, perhaps, but he'd be on the roster and have a shot to produce. With Antonio Callaway's issues and after trading Corey Coleman away, the Browns are looking for answers at wide receiver just in case.

Browns | Dez Bryant not interested in CLE?    Tue Aug 7, 10:50 AM

Updating previous reports, free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) is believed to have little interest in joining the Cleveland Browns, according to a source.

Footballguys view: With each day that passes, it becomes less and less likely that Dez Bryant has a fantasy relevant role to being 2018. Missing camp and ramp up time with his new quarterback in his new offense will make Bryant a role player at best when he does join a new team.

Browns | Dez Bryant in holding pattern with CLE    Mon Aug 6, 08:04 AM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) is still receiving interest from the Cleveland Browns, but nothing is imminent even after Cleveland traded WR Corey Coleman.

Browns | Dez Bryant not scheduled to meet with CLE    Mon Jul 30, 12:16 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) is still talking with the Cleveland Browns, but the two sides have not scheduled a meeting at this point.

Footballguys view: This could be a good sign for Josh Gordon, but at first glance the main takeaway here is that Bryant isn't exactly getting teams anxious to sign him. Bryant is arguably not worth a pick in shallow redraft leagues right now.

Titans | Tennessee not looking at Dez Bryant    Sun Jul 29, 06:08 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) is not an option for the Tennessee Titans at this time even though WR Rishard Matthews (undisclosed) is dealing with an injury, according to a source. The Titans could show interest in Bryant down the road.

Footballguys view: This can be spun as good news on Matthews' injury, but Bryant's locker room reputation isn't spotless and that could raise the desperation bar for signing him. It's also possible that they don't want to make any moves until they can see if Matthews is ready to return and has an uneventful return during camp or the preseason.

Browns | Cleveland has talked with Dez Bryant    Fri Jul 27, 04:47 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant's (Cowboys) representatives have had discussions with the Cleveland Browns about the possibility of Bryant signing a one-year deal with the Browns, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Write Bryant's name on the Browns roster lightly in pencil. They need him with Josh Gordon gone for who knows how long and no proven durable, experienced outside receivers on the roster. Corey Coleman should still be on the field in three-wide sets in any event and have a chance to build his value in dynasty leagues. Jarvis Landry is looking like the focal point of the pass offense and actually a solid proposition at ADP in PPR leagues.

Browns | Dez Bryant an option for Browns    Wed Jul 25, 12:14 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) is an option for the Cleveland Browns, according to general manager John Dorsey.

Footballguys view: Most reports this offseason have been about teams having no interest in Bryant. He did have an offer from the Ravens this spring but he turned them down. Since then, things have been quiet in terms of interest. The Browns have an unknown situation with Josh Gordon and Ricardo Louis is now out for the year. Adding Bryant would give them veteran depth and a player who could work into the mix.

Titans | Dez Bryant unlikely an option for TEN    Sun Jul 1, 06:29 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) does not appear to be a target for the Tennessee Titans, in the opinion of TitansOnline.com's Jim Wyatt.

Footballguys view: The Titans have Corey Davis and Taywan Taylor on the rise, and may not want to slow down their growth on the field to add Bryant's questionable value at this point in his career - especially in new offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur's system.

Titans | Dez Bryant welcome in Tennessee    Sun Jun 10, 10:04 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) is 'most definitely' welcome on the Tennessee Titans roster, according to TE Delanie Walker. 'It's another element if they was to bring him to the team,' Walker said. 'If he can help us out, gladly I would welcome him with open arms.'

Footballguys view: The Titans may not have room (or not want) a veteran receiver like Bryant. Other than turning down a deal from the Ravens, Bryant hasn't gotten much interest since the Cowboys released him earlier this offseason. We think Tennessee is good with guys like Rishard Matthews, Corey Davis and Taywan Taylor as their top three wide receivers.

Patriots | Dez Bryant unlikely for Patriots    Sat Jun 9, 01:53 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) probably will not be an option for the New England Patriots even if WR Julian Edelman is suspended for four games, in the opinion of ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss.

Footballguys view: Bryant has been out there on the open market since the Cowboys let him go earlier this offseason. Other than a reported deal with the Ravens (that he turned down), Bryant hasn't been getting any interest. That should change when training camp opens. Bryant may want to go to a contender, but it doesn't sound like the Patriots will be interested.

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) is not expected to sign with a team until the start of training camp, according to sources. He has received interest from teams but is being patient and selective.

Footballguys view: He's being selective as Bryant turned down a deal from the Ravens earlier this offseason. Bryant may have to wait for injuries to hit during training camp before he gets an offer he likes.

  49ers | Dez Bryant to 49ers unlikely    Tue May 29, 05:13 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) is not expected to be pursued by the San Francisco 49ers.

Footballguys view: The 49ers have a strong group of wide receivers, although there are some unproven players on the depth chart. Pierre Garcon is healthy and should be the favorite target of QB Jimmy Garropolo this year. Marquise Goodwin can stretch the field to take the top off the defense while Trent Taylor can work the slot and underneath routes. There's not a lot of room for Bryant in San Francisco. Bryant apparently had interest in joining the 49ers, but the interest is not mutual at this time.

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) has more teams not willing to pay him the league minimum salary than teams who are willing to sign him to any deal, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Footballguys view: That's following along with the reports about teams in the NFC East being cool on the idea of signing Bryant. He's been on the open market for a few weeks with little interest generated. Bryant has already turned down a three-year, $21 million contract from the Baltimore Ravens.

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) won't be pursued by the Buffalo Bills, according to general manager Brandon Beane. 'If we thought that was the right fit for us, we definitely would potentially pursue it,' Beane said.

Footballguys view: It's hard to figure out exactly who is going to target Bryant in free agency now. He's probably not going to get the money he is looking, even on a one-year deal. Bryant's fantasy value continues to slide.

Ravens | Dez Bryant declined Ravens    Wed Apr 25, 03:00 PM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) turned down a multi-year deal from the Baltimore Ravens, according to former ESPN reporter Ed Werder. Bryant is seeking a one-year deal and an opportunity to earn a bigger contract as a free agent next year.

Footballguys view: Bryant is betting on himself, which makes sense considering his personality, but could cost him money this year and down the line if his skills and physical talent are eroding. The Ravens went after Willie Snead as a restricted free agent instead, likely foreclosing any possibility that they sign Bryant. He will have a limited market for his services after the draft.

NFL | Dez Bryant to sign after draft    Wed Apr 25, 09:12 AM

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) is likely to sign after the NFL draft.

Footballguys view: The Cowboys are the most likely team to take a wide receiver in the first round, and they could be the first team to take a wideout. Alabama's Calvin Ridley is the safest pick, Maryland's DJ Moore has the best production profile and is one of the youngest receivers in the draft, and SMU's Courtland Sutton has the game that most resembles Bryant of the top draft wideouts.
