Cleveland Browns DE Desmond Bryant (heart) underwent a cardiac ablation procedure Friday, Dec. 6, because of an irregular heartbeat. His season is over but he's expected to make a full recovery and play next year. Bryant finished the year with 3.5 sacks and 45 tackles. DLs Billy Winn, Armonty Bryant and John Hughes will rotate to replace Bryant.

Cleveland Browns rookie DE Armonty Bryant admitted Tuesday, June 25, to having a substance abuse problem. However, he said fellow rookie LB Barkevious Mingo, team support and some powerful messages at the NFL's rookie symposium have been helpful. Bryant was arrested for DUI less than a week after being picked by the Browns in the seventh round of the draft, and he was arrested twice at East Central (Okla.) University for selling $20 worth of marijuana to undercover cops. He said he has sworn off drugs and alcohol, and plays a lot of X-Box while hanging with Mingo.
| Footballguys view: Bryant was arrested trying to sell weed on the practice field. That is a whole other level not seen with substance abuse problems from college. Hopefully he stays clean and can start playing up to his potential. Bryant was an outstanding player during the week of practice for the Texas vs The Nation Game earlier this year and has an intriguing size/strength combination. |
