Titans | Tennessee getting to know Thomas Brown Thu Jan 18, 02:17 PM
Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Thomas X. Brown interviewed for the Tennessee Titans' head coaching vacancy on Thursday, Jan. 18.
Footballguys view: Titans GM Ran Carthon is looking for a head coach after letting Mike Vrabel go in a move that surprised quite a few in the league. Brown did great things working under Sean McVay with the Rams, but his offense in Carolina was below average and rookie QB Bryce Young did not look good at all. Any coach that takes over the Titans will have to get the most out of guys like Will Levis on offense. |

Titans | Thomas Brown to meet with Titans Wed Jan 17, 12:31 PM
Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Thomas X. Brown will interview for the Tennessee Titans head coaching vacancy.
Footballguys view: Brown worked well under Rams HC Sean McVay, but last year things fell apart with the Panthers offense. He's been a fast riser in the coaching community, and Brown is also getting interest from the Bears to be their OC. The Titans are looking for someone who can get the most from young passer Will Levis. |

Bears | Thomas Brown interviewing with Bears Wed Jan 17, 12:26 PM
Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Thomas X. Brown is interviewing for the Chicago Bears offensive coordinator post
Footballguys view: Brown did good work with the Rams under HC Sean McVay, but his one year with the Panthers was not great. However, that could just be the situation in Carolina and not indicative of the type of coach Brown is. The Bears are looking at making a strong run to the playoffs in 2024, perhaps with QB Justin Fields or perhaps with the no.1 overall pick under center (Caleb Williams?). Brown would be a fine addition to their staff. |

Panthers | Frank Reich retakes play-calling duties Thu Nov 16, 10:16 AM
Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich reclaimed play-calling duties from offensive coordinator Thomas X. Brown.
Footballguys view: The Panthers are desperate for things to change. That's why Brown took over play-calling duties. Now, Reich takes them back. We'll see if things change, but the Panthers' offense is flat-out bad. Reich says this move is not a punishment for Brown, and they will be collaborative in the approach to crafting a gameplan. |

Commanders | Washington lining up OC interviews Fri Jan 20, 03:32 PM
Miami Dolphins assistant head coach/running backs coach Eric Studesville is scheduled to interview for the Washington Commanders' offensive coordinator vacancy on Monday, Jan. 23. Los Angeles Rams assistant head coach/tight ends coach Thomas X. Brown is expected to do likewise later in the week.
Footballguys view: Studesville has worked as an offensive coordinator, splitting the duties with the Dolphins in previous seasons. Years ago (2010), Studesville was the interim head coach for the Broncos when they fired Josh McDaniels with a few games to go. |

Texans | Houston requests interview with Thomas Brown Thu Jan 12, 11:28 AM
Los Angeles Rams assistant head coach and tight ends coach Thomas Brown was requested to interview with the Houston Texans for their head coach vacancy, according to a source Thursday, Jan. 12.
Footballguys view: The coaches under Sean McVay always get attention in head coaching searches. Brown has been on that track for a couple of seasons, and there may be a team out there who decides to make him the top guy. If Brown doesn't get a head coaching job this year, we're certain he will be in the mix the next time around. |

Rams | Thomas Brown a candidate for offensive coordinator Fri Feb 4, 01:11 AM
Los Angeles Rams running back coach/assistant head coach Thomas X. Brown is a candidate to be promoted to offensive coordinator, in the opinion of The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue. Current offensive coordinator Kevin O'Connell is expected to be named the new head coach of the Minnesota Vikings after the season.
Footballguys view: When O'Connell leaves for his new gig, there will be a spot open on the Rams coaching staff. That means Brown could get a promotion to offensive coordinator. He won't call plays, as that's Sean McVay's responsibility, but Brown will continue to be a hot name in coaching circles. He's already gotten head coaching interviews this offseason with the Dolphins and is known as a fast riser and a hard worker. |

Browns | Th. Brown signed to active roster Sat Jan 2, 07:17 PM
Aaron Wilson, of the National Football Post, reports the Cleveland Browns have signed practice squad RB Thomas Brown to their active roster. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Thomas Brown is a versatile back from the University of Georgia who was originally a sixth round pick by the Atlanta Falcons in 2008. He spent all of last season on Injured Reserve, but found his way onto the Browns practice squad this year. He isn't the biggest back, but he is very quick and can change direction on a dime. He can be used effectively as a receiver out of the backfield, and has good instincts when running in the open field. |

Browns | T. Brown signs Tue Nov 10, 11:43 PM
The Associated Press reports the Cleveland Browns signed free-agent RB Thomas Brown (Falcons) to their practice squad Tuesday, Nov. 10. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Brown, the former Georgia Bulldog, is a strong inside runner despite his small size. He has good moves in the open field, and runs with good balance, pad level, and footwork. However, his pro career has been marred by injury and he's a long shot to have any fantasy value. |

Falcons | T. Brown, Ferguson among roster cuts Sat Sep 5, 05:22 PM
The Atlanta Falcons have announced the release of WR Troy Bergeron, RB Thomas Brown, OL Mike Butterworth, WR Robert Ferguson, LB Robert James, WR Aaron Kelly, DE Maurice Lucas, CB William Middleton, TE Jason Rader, QB D.J. Shockley, OG Jose Valdez, DT Vance Walker and LB Jamie Winborn.
Footballguys view: Jason Snelling made the final roster over Brown, and he could be a very valuable waiver wire pickup if something happens to Michael Turner. Snelling is a RB/FB 'tweener, and would be the power back the Falcons would team up with Jerious Norwood in case of emergency. Snelling even played a little Wildcat QB last year for Atlanta. Marty Booker and Eric Weems made the team as the fourth and fifth wide receivers. |

Falcons | T. Brown still a game-time decision Thu Aug 20, 04:17 PM
CBSSports.com reports Atlanta Falcons RB Thomas Brown (leg) is still a game-time decision for the team's preseason game Friday, Aug. 21, according to head coach Mike Smith.
Footballguys view: The team likes what they've seen from Thomas Brown, but he's failed to stay healthy during his pro career. He missed all of last season on the Injured Reserve list, and is already dinged up this year. The Falcons are going to be careful with how many touches he sees in the preseason if he isn't 100%. |

Falcons | T. Brown in the mix for a roster spot Thu May 28, 01:46 AM
D. Orlando Ledbetter, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons RB Thomas Brown (groin) is fully recovered from a season-ending groin injury he suffered last season. He has been performing well during the team's OTAs.
Footballguys view: Thomas Brown is now fighting for a roster spot and head coach Mike Smith said he believes Brown will be in the mix for the final roster. Brown is currently running with the 3rd-team at tailback. Brown is a great athlete that has the speed to break long TDs. He changes direction quickly and with his great hands he makes for a dangerous and elusive target. Durability is the key for Brown as he's battled injuries throughout his career at Georgia and now with the Falcons. Remember his name in deeper leagues. |
