The New York Giants are worried that FS Stevie Brown (knee) suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 24.
Footballguys view: Brown was a revelation last year, seemingly always in the perfect place to make interceptions. The Giants and IDP teams were depending on him, so Tyler Sash might be a relevant player in IDP league, assuming he wins a job vacated by a serious Brown injury. |

Giants | Stevie Brown has new expectations Fri Aug 16, 01:23 PM
New York Giants FS Stevie Brown says the expectations are different for him in 2013. Instead of trying to make the team, coaches are expecting things out of Brown this year. 'I didn't have to do interviews with this many cameras (last year),' the Giants' safety said. 'I just got to eat lunch and go back. But it's definitely a little bit different. Coaches talk to you in a different way. Players talk to you in a different way. It's not about keeping it going, keeping your head focused and see if you can try to make this team. Now it's like we're going to need things from you this year and expect things from you.'

Giants | Want Stevie Brown to be more versatile Tue Aug 6, 11:48 AM
The New York Giants want FS Stevie Brown to be more versatile now that he is a full-time starter. Having a full training camp to work as a starter will help Brown become the interchangeable safety the club wants him to be. 'We already know he's a ballhawk and can go and he can go get the ball and do something with it once he gets it,' FS Antrel Rolle said Tuesday, Aug. 6. 'Now he's showing us that he can play in the box and definitely be a versatile safety.'
Footballguys view: Brown is a low-end DB1 in IDP leagues. Some of his production was "right place at the right time" interceptions last year, which can be a bit fluky, but he should still be in on a lot of tackles with one of the NFL's weakest linebacker corps on the field in front of him. |

Giants | Stevie Brown might start in 2013 Wed Feb 13, 08:55 PM
New York Giants FS Stevie Brown might be the starter opposite FS Antrel Rolle at the safety position in 2013. Brown is a restricted free agent heading into the offseason, but the team is expected to tender Brown if a new deal is not agreed upon.
Footballguys view: Brown was an incredible ballhawk in 2012. He was one off of the league lead in interceptions with eight, despite only starting 11 games. The Giants should be okay with letting Kenny Phillips walk to give Brown a chance to start. |
