Cardinals | Week 6 injury report for Arizona    Fri Oct 13, 04:41 PM

Arizona Cardinals DL Olsen Pierre (ankle) did not practice Friday, Oct. 13, and he is out for Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. LB Karlos Dansby (hamstring), DT Robert Nkemdiche (calf), DL Corey Peters (knee), CB Patrick Peterson (quadriceps) and OT Jared Veldheer (knee) were limited participants and are listed as questionable. OG Alex Boone (chest), WR John Brown (quadriceps), LB Josh Bynes (hamstring), OT D.J. Humphries (knee), DL Josh Mauro (elbow), WR JJ Nelson (hamstring) and DL Xavier Williams (shoulder) each practiced in full and were removed from the reports.

Footballguys view: Peterson is expected to play, but if for some reason he can't go, Mike Evans and Jameis Winston both become much more attractive Week 6 plays in DFS.

Cardinals | John Brown limited    Thu Oct 12, 07:13 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (quadriceps) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

Footballguys view: Aside from Larry Fitzgerald, we don't love this passing offense, so even if he wasn't banged up, Brown wouldn't be a great start. As it stands, he's no more than a WR5 this week.

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (quadriceps) is expected to play in Week 4's game against the San Francisco 49ers, although he will not be at 100 percent and will likely see a limited number of snaps.

Footballguys view: Brown isn't a good play with a limited role, but he should help Carson Palmer and make a stronger case to play him in your lineup this week. Jaron Brown and JJ Nelson lose some sleeper appeal with Brown's return to the field.

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (quadriceps) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 29, and is listed as questionable for Week 4.

Footballguys view: Brown isn't a strong play in Week 4, but his presence helps Carson Palmer's outlook. It also dampens the sleeper appeal of Jaron Brown and JJ Nelson.

Cardinals | John Brown remains limited    Thu Sep 28, 07:21 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (quadriceps) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 28.

Cardinals | John Brown worked out Monday night    Tue Sep 26, 12:58 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (quad) is still dealing with the quad injury but was able to get some work in on the field prior to the Week 3 game against Dallas Cowboys after not practicing at all in the week leading up to the game.

Footballguys view: Many fantasy owners have already moved on from Brown. He's trending in the right direction but he doesn't seem to recover from these injuries in a timely manner. If you play in a league with a deep bench, feel free to keep stashing Brown as a 'lottery ticket' for later in the year.

The Arizona Cardinals have declared QB Blaine Gabbert, OT D.J. Humphries, RB D.J. Foster, LB Deone Bucannon, TE Jermaine Gresham, WR John Brown, OG Mike Iupati inactive for Week 2.

Footballguys view: Troy Niklas and Ifeanyi Momah will get more work with Gresham out. Jaron Brown and JJ Nelson will get more work with Brown out. It's fair to ask if John Brown is worth rostering with his lack of availability this early in the season.

Cardinals | Arizona injury report for Week 2    Fri Sep 15, 05:59 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (quadriceps), OT D.J. Humphries (knee) and OG Mike Iupati (triceps) did not practice Friday, Sept. 15, and is out for Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts. LB Deone Bucannon (ankle) was limited in practice and is doubtful, while TE Troy Niklas (hip) and DE Robert Nkemdiche (calf) were limited and are listed as questionable. TE Jermaine Gresham (ribs) did not practice and is questionable, while LB Karlos Dansby (shin) practiced in full and is longer on the injury report.

Footballguys view: The offensive line is going to miss Iupati in the run game and Brown's absence will hamper the deep passing game against the Colts. The Cardinals offense should still have success if the Colts defense plays the way it did against the Rams last week.

Cardinals | John Brown still not practicing    Thu Sep 14, 05:15 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (quadriceps) was held out of practice for a second straight day Thursday, Sept. 14.

Footballguys view: The Cardinals offense needs all hands on deck without RB David Johnson. We're not rushing to add Brown to the lineup if he does play against the Colts. Brown played 63 snaps against the Lions in Week 1 but was only able to haul in four passes for 32 yards.

Cardinals | John Brown misses practice    Wed Sep 13, 05:43 PM

Cardinals | Five touches for John Brown    Sun Sep 10, 07:32 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown rushed once for 10 yards and he added four receptions for 32 yards on nine targets in Week 1 at Detroit.

Footballguys view: Brown mostly got his numbers in a small burst and wasn't a consistent part of a sputtering offense. He could hit next week against the Colts but is only an end of the bench fantasy receiver for now.

Cardinals | John Brown scores twice    Sat Aug 26, 09:43 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown caught two passes for 49 yards and two touchdowns against the Atlanta Falcons in the preseason Saturday, Aug. 26.

Footballguys view: Brown's ability to heal from soft tissue injuries was a problem that seemed to threaten his roster spot and trust from Bruce Arians earlier this preseason, but his two scores should secure his role in the offense and on our draft boards as a late round wait and see stash.

Cardinals | John Brown won't rush return    Tue Aug 15, 10:29 PM

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (quad) ran a few routes in practice Tuesday, Aug. 15, but vows not to come back to a full practice before he is completely healthy. Brown added he could play Saturday, Aug. 19, against the Chicago Bears, 'but I won't be at my best.'

Cardinals | John Brown will have full practice    Tue Aug 15, 03:01 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (quadriceps) will be full go in practice Tuesday, Aug. 15.

Footballguys view: "Smoke" just needs to stay healthy and he can have plenty of fantasy value. His speed helps him take the top off the defense, and Brown is plenty dangerous after the catch. If healthy, he could outperform his current ADP of WR43 (9.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Cardinals | John Brown to return soon    Sun Aug 6, 08:05 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (quadriceps) is expected to return to practice Tuesday, Aug. 8.

Footballguys view: Now we want to see Brown stay on the practice field for the rest of the summer after an injury-riddled 2016. He's still a value if he can stay healthy and be the team's #2 all season, but his beginning to camp casts some doubt on that.

Cardinals | John Brown could miss up to a week    Fri Jul 28, 04:01 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (quad) is expected to miss a few days and perhaps may be a week with a quad injury, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Footballguys view: Not what you wanted to hear if you are banking on a rebound for Brown, but his ADP is still well outside of the top 4-5 rounds where you get your sure starters, so he was likely underpriced considering his range of outcomes. As long as he returns within a week, this shouldn't greatly change our approach to Brown in drafts.

Cardinals | John Brown packing on muscle    Sun Jul 23, 01:22 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown checked into the team's first practice of the season at 185 pounds, up 12 pounds from last season.

Footballguys view: That should be a good thing for his durability and shows that he had an offseason dedicated to conditioning. Brown played through a cyst in his back and sickle-cell related issues last year. If he can avoid the injury report this year, Brown can be a strong #2 in the Cardinals passing game and outperform his ADP.

Cardinals | John Brown ready for big season?    Sun Jul 16, 12:31 AM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown will be the main beneficiary of the departure of Minnesota Vikings WR Michael Floyd, according to Jordan Schultz of Yahoo! Sports. Floyd accounted for 88 targets for the Cardinals last season.

Footballguys view: Brown is going to be the Cardinals no2 WR opposite Larry Fitzgerald in 2017 and there should be more buzz about him. He had a lingering concussion and complications from sickle cell anemia that limited him during his 15 starts in 2016. He's at full strength now, and Brown should build on his 2015 season of 65 catches, 1,003 yards, and 7 touchdowns. He's WR42 (9.02) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Cardinals | John Brown dealing with injuries    Wed Jun 7, 04:10 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (hamstring) is dealing with a hamstring injury, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Footballguys view: Brown's 2016 was marred with injuries and medical conditions. Hopefully this isn't related to the sickle cell trait that affected his hamstring last year. All of the news had been positive on Brown this offseason until this, so the comeback hype train should slow down a bit. Jaron Brown and JJ Nelson would get first crack at any snaps Brown gives up while he's sidelined, with rookie third-round pick Chad Williams also potentially on the fast track to playing time.

Cardinals | John Brown back to old self    Sat Jun 3, 11:38 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown is back to running routes like he did in 2015, according to head coach Bruce Arians. 'A couple of those routes he ran, he did not run one route like that last year,' Arians said. 'Knock on wood, it stays that way.'

Footballguys view: Brown was limited in 2016 due to sickle cell complications and lingering effects from a concussion. Now healthy, it's not outlandish to expect Brown to at least bounce back to the production he had in 2015 (65 catches, 1,003 yards, and 7 touchdowns.) His current ADP is WR46 (10.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Cardinals | John Brown had cyst removed    Thu May 4, 05:03 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (back) had a cyst removed from his spine following the final game of last season. Brown had been dealing with a sickle cell trait last season and his production suffered because of it. After the cyst was removed, though, he was back to normal. Brown said his body has been feeling better and he's back in his normal routine and back to being himself.

Footballguys view: Hopefully this is the end of the larger issues for Brown but he has a lot of competition to crawl over to be a fantasy force.

Cardinals | John Brown working out    Sun Apr 2, 06:59 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (illness) has been working out twice a day and has not dealt with any symptoms related to his sickle cell trait, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Footballguys view: Cardinals president Michael Bidwill believes the team has solved Brown's sickle-cell issue. Earlier this year, Bidwill confidently said "We'll get 'Smoke' back the way we had him." Brown missed only one game in 2016, but he was severely limited in many contests. If healthy, he could get back to the production level he enjoyed in 2015 (65 catches, 1,003 yards, seven touchdowns).

Cardinals | John Brown now very healthy, says owner    Tue Feb 14, 11:04 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (illness) is now 'very healthy,' according to team president and owner Michael Bidwill, who also said that it 'looks like they found the issue' regarding the sickle cell problem the receiver was dealing with this past season. Bidwill added: 'We'll get (Brown) back the way we had him.'

Footballguys view: Brown appeared in 15 games, but he was limited in many of those contests. Coming off a disappointing season, Brown could bounce back as the no.2 asset in the passing game for the Cardinals in 2017.
