Saints | Cameron Jordan expected to compete for starting job Sun Jul 24, 12:33 PM
New Orleans Saints DE Cameron Jordan is expected to compete with DE Alex Brown for the starting left defensive end job this season. Jordan could be used in some sub packages if he is not able to win a starting job.
Footballguys view: Jordan wasn't a sack machine during his time in college at Cal, but there's a lot to like about his game. He has good functional strength and is stout against the run. Jordan is technically sound and has different pass rush moves to pressure the pocket. When he doesn't get to the quarterback he will put his hands up to block passing lanes. |

Brown was traded shortly after the Bears signed DE Julius Peppers. Briggs said, "When I first heard it, I was pissed. I was hurt. I thought bringing in Peppers was one of the greatest moves that the Bears had made, and then you get rid of you know, the other side. I mean, I just saw Alex having the highest sack total he's ever had. But when I sat down and thought about it for a while, I understand the move. I don't like it, but I understand the move."

Bears | Could regret losing DE Brown Thu Apr 1, 11:18 AM
Dan Arkush, from ProFootballWeekly.com, reports according to many close to the team, the Bears could be a lot worse off without Alex Brown, whose base salary of $5 million in 2010 apparently has made him a luxury the team does not think it can afford after breaking the bank to obtain high-profile free-agent DE Julius Peppers to the tune of $20 million this offseason. The Bears appear ready to replace Brown with the combination of Mark Anderson, whose production has been ordinary at best since a very impressive 12-sack rookie campaign in 2006, and former swing man Israel Idonije. Not only do more than a few team insiders question the wisdom of cutting the cord with Brown, who has been an extremely steady and reliable starter (at least six sacks in five of the past six seasons). They also believe Brown's impact in the locker room will be sorely missed.
