Broncos | MLB a top offseason need    Thu Feb 7, 09:20 AM

The Denver Broncos' top offseason need could be addressing the middle linebacker position. Impending free-agent LB Keith Brooking is 37 years of age and not expected to return.

Footballguys view: The team drafted Nate Irving in 2010 but he's yet to develop as a pro. They'll likely add a MLB in the 2013 NFL Draft, perhaps with a premium pick. Some have speculated the team could be interested in Kevin Minter (LSU) with a late first- or second-round pick.

Broncos | Keith Brooking unlikely to return    Wed Feb 6, 09:22 PM

Impending free-agent LB Keith Brooking (Broncos) is unlikely to be back with the team. He is 37 years old and scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent.

Footballguys view: Brooking filled in nicely for the Broncos this year after Joe Mays went down with an injury. Middle Linebacker is a huge question mark for the team and one they could address in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Broncos | Nate Irving improving    Tue Oct 16, 03:25 PM

Denver Broncos LB Nate Irving has improved with his move to strongside linebacker, showing more quickness in space. The team used him in the base defense against the San Diego Chargers in Week 6 Monday, Oct. 15, when the Chargers were in heavier formations on early downs. Irving needs to show he can consistently shed blockers to receive more playing time, though. Denver showed four-linebacker sets Monday, too, with Irving joining LBs Keith Brooking, Von Miller and Wesley Woodyard.

Cowboys | Team plans to rotate at ILB    Tue Jul 5, 11:30 PM

Todd Archer, of ESPN Dallas, reports that the Cowboys plan is to rotate Keith Brooking, Sean Lee, and Bradie James at inside linebacker to keep all three fresh this season. Archer also writes that second-round pick Bruce Carter could play in sub packages and contribute on special teams.

Footballguys view: The Cowboys may start out wanting to rotate, but look for Lee to overtake Brooking at some point this year. Bradie James is still in the more valuable weakside inside linebacker position for IDP leagues, and the more athletic Bruce Carter could be groomed to take over that position, so he's the better commodity in dynasty leagues.
