Saints | Three touchdowns for Drew Brees     Sun Nov 17, 05:12 PM

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees went 28-for-35 for 228 yards and three touchdowns against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 11.

Footballguys view: Brees had the strong and efficient start his fantasy teams were expecting last week. The Bucs matchup is that reliable for fantasy and Matt Ryan will draw them next while Brees will get the Panthers defense that Ryan had some success against today.

Saints | Drew Brees throws for 287 yards    Sun Nov 10, 05:01 PM

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees went 32-for-45 for 287 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 10.

Footballguys view: Brees was a dud in a matchup that should have yielded one of his best lines of the season. The Falcons pass rush came alive for the first time this year and Brees wasn't able to make plays as a downfield passer. He'll have a good matchup against the Bucs next week but this result will induce some hesitation at lineup setting time.

Saints | Drew Brees poised to shred Atlanta?    Fri Nov 8, 09:35 PM

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees faces the Atlanta Falcons in Week 10, and the Falcons have allowed the third most passing touchdowns this season while ranking last in both sacks and takeaways.

Footballguys view: The Saints are at home, and that always makes Brees an attractive option. He's a QB1 as per usual this week.

Saints | Drew Brees has outstanding game    Sun Oct 27, 04:55 PM

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees went 34-for-43 for 373 yards, three touchdowns and one interception against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8.

Footballguys view: Brees was mostly passing short of the sticks, but the Cardinals defense was powerless to slow him down. He'll be a high floor QB1 going forward with a bye up next week.

Saints | Drew Brees named Week 8 starter    Sat Oct 26, 03:27 PM

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees (thumb) will start Sunday, Oct. 27, against the Arizona Cardinals, sources told Dianna Russini and Ed Werder of ESPN Saturday, Oct. 26.

Footballguys view: Brees is back in action before the team's Week 9 bye. The Cardinals defense is a pushover, so Brees should have no problem posting QB1 numbers or Fantasy GMs.

Saints | New Orleans hasn't named starting QB for Week 8    Sat Oct 26, 10:54 AM

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton has not yet named a starting quarterback for Week 8's game against the Arizona Cardinals. QB Drew Brees (thumb) was listed as questionable on the injury report after being a limited practice participant throughout the week but QB Teddy Bridgewater has gone 5-0 as a starter during Brees' absence.

Footballguys view: With a bye week coming up in Week 9, we can't believe Brees could actually be an option here. Bridgewater has been great as the team's starter and he could easily beat up on a bad Cardinals defense in Week 8. We hope Bridgewater gets one more week of starting just to give Brees an extra bit of time to rest.

Saints | Questionable tag for Drew Brees    Fri Oct 25, 06:10 PM

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees (thumb) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 25, and is listed as questionable for Week 8.

Footballguys view: Sean Payton might have already made his decision but he'll keep us in suspense for tactical value. Brees could play and he's a solid start for fantasy if he does because the Cardinals have a vulnerable pass defense.

Saints | Drew Brees remains limited    Thu Oct 24, 05:42 PM

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees (thumb) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 24.

Updating a previous story, New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees (thumb) said 'the plan' is for him to return Sunday, Oct. 27, against the Arizona Cardinals.

Footballguys view: We'll see if that's the case. The Saints have a bye in Week 9, so there's no need to rush him back....especially against the hapless Cardinals defense.

Saints | Drew Brees could be GTD    Wed Oct 23, 03:21 PM

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees (thumb) could be a game-time decision for the Week 8 game against the Arizona Cardinals Sunday, Oct. 27, according to head coach Sean Payton Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Footballguys view: Yeah, that's cool and all but there's no need to get Brees out there against a hapless Cardinals defense. Teddy Bridgewater has continued the team's winning ways and the Saints have a bye in Week 9. Brees may be a game-time decision but we don't think he plays in Week 8.

Saints | Drew Brees aiming to return this week    Mon Oct 21, 08:22 AM

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees (thumb) will return to practice this week with an eye on returning for Week 8.

Footballguys view: The team is winning with Teddy Bridgewater, so there's no need to rush Brees back especially the way the schedule shakes out. If Brees can't make it back this week, he should be back after the Week 9 bye week.

Footballguys view: We've heard eight weeks, we've heard six weeks, so let's just call it even and say seven weeks. In all seriousness, Brees will be back when he's ready and we just won't know if it's six or eight weeks until we get closer to his return. In the meantime, the Saints move forward with Teddy Bridgewater and Taysom Hill at quarterback.

Saints | Drew Brees out six weeks    Mon Sep 16, 10:46 AM

Updating previous reports, New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees (thumb) is expected to undergo thumb surgery as early as Monday, Sept. 16, and could miss six weeks.

Footballguys view: The Saints now turn things over to Teddy Bridgewater as their starter. He's a smart and accurate quarterback, so Bridgewater will know to keep WR Michael Thomas and RB Alvin Kamara as involved as possible. However, Fantasy GMs should be downgrading their projections for these top weapons. Without Brees, we might see an increased role for gadget QB Taysom Hill too.

Saints | Drew Brees leaves with thumb injury    Sun Sep 15, 04:59 PM

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees (thumb) was removed from the Week 2 game against the Los Angeles Rams in the first quarter due to a thumb injury. QB Teddy Bridgewater replaced him. Brees has not been ruled out to return, per the sideline report.

Footballguys view: Brees status for next week against the Seahawks is no sure thing, and he is seeing a hand specialist out of concern. Injured reserve is possible. A Saints offense that already wants to skew conservative when possible will go into a shell without Brees. This is terrible news for Alvin Kamara, not great for Michael Thomas, and may make Jared Cook and Latavius Murray droppable.
