Danny O'Neil, of The Seattle Times, reports Seattle Seahawks head coach Jim Mora said WR Deion Branch (hamstring) should be available to play in Week 3 if he does not suffer a setback this week.
| Our view: Even in the deepest of leagues Branch is pretty much a waste of a roster spot. |

Eric Williams, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports Seattle Seahawks WR Deion Branch (hamstring) and WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh (back) missed the team's practice Wednesday, Sept. 16.

Seahawks | Team comfortable with rookie Butler Sat Sep 12, 03:12 PM
Eric D. Williams, from the Tacoma News-Tribune, reports that even though Seattle kept only five receivers, it does have some quality options behind Deion Branch, currently the No. 3 guy, in rookie Deon Butler and Ben Obomanu. So having those guys to fill in short term for Branch could influence coach Jim Mora's decision. "I am comfortable with the depth because we have a healthy Nate Burleson, we've got T.J. Houshmandzadeh added to the mix, we've got a Deon Butler who looks like through the preseason he has really matured and looks like we can count on him," Mora said.
| Our view: We've been banging the drum for rookie Deon Butler since seeing him stand out at the Shrine Game practices back in January. Butler could be a great slot receiver for the Seahawks because of his consistent hands, body control, and route running ability. He's already had a very good preseason, and could carry that momentum into the regular season. |

Seattle Seahawks WR Deion Branch (hamstring) is questionable for the team's Week 1game after injuring his hamstring during practice Monday, Sept. 7.

Danny O'Neil, of The Seattle Times, reports Seattle Seahawks WR Deion Branch (hamstring), CB Travis Fisher (hamstring), DE Derek Walker (hamstring) and FS C.J. Wallace (rib) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 9.
| Our view: Branch's injury woes continue. If Deon Butler starts hot, Branch's role could be reduced, even once he's 100% healthy. |

Seahawks | Branch not in danger of being cut Mon Aug 31, 10:37 PM
Mike Sando, of ESPN.com, reports that WR Deion Branch won't be cut for salary cap reasons, because the savings would be marginal and the team would lose depth at WR, something that they sorely needed last year.
| Our view: We trust Sando, even though the original speculation that Branch might be in danger came from a Seahawks beat writer. Sando was a beat writer for the Seahawks himself before joining up with ESPN. |

Seahawks | Branch could be cut Mon Aug 31, 11:19 AM
Eric D. Williams, from the Tacoma News-Tribune, reports the team traditionally kept six receivers while Mike Holmgren was coach, but new offensive coordinator Greg Knapp has run more two-tight-end sets during the preseason and not as many three- or four-receiver sets, so the Seahawks could get by with keeping just five wideouts. So far, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Nate Burleson, Deion Branch and Deon Butler are likely in, with Courtney Taylor, Ben Obomanu and Jordan Kent fighting for the last couple of spots. Or perhaps Branch could be on his way out. The veteran will make $5 million this season to be Seattle's third receiver and the Seahawks have a lot of depth at the position. So they may live with five receivers and let Branch go to keep a player at a different position.
| Our view: Branch has been a big disappointment since coming over from the New England Patriots, and now could be in danger of losing his job. He's missed at least five games in each of the past two seasons, and is simply too much of an injury risk to be a factor on your fantasy radar. We like Deon Butler, the rookie out of Penn State, who could catch quite a few passes from the slot position for the Seahawks. |

Seahawks | Branch missing practice with sore knee Fri Aug 7, 11:10 AM
Danny O'Neil, of the Seattle Times, reports that Seahawks WR Deion Branch missed the Wednesday, August 5, night practice, and Thursday, August 6, afternoon practice with soreness in his knee.
| Our view: Same old story for Branch. Watch out of rookie Deon Butler, who plays like a young (and healthy) Branch. |

Seahawks | Branch practices in full Friday Fri Jul 31, 10:54 PM
Mike Sando, of ESPN.com, reports Seattle Seahawks WR Deion Branch (knee) practiced in full Friday, July 31.
| Our view: Branch has struggled to stay healthy his entire time in Seattle, so any production from the oft-injured WR should be considered a bonus. The Seahawks signed T.J. Houshmandzadeh and he will team with TE John Carlson to give Matt Hasselbeck a solid receiving duo. Branch has a chance to win the #2 job opposite Houshmandzadeh, but he will have to stay healthy and beat out Nate Burleson and rookie Deon Butler. |

Seahawks | Branch says knee will never be normal Thu Jun 11, 05:58 PM
Gregg Bell, of The Associated Press, reports Seattle Seahawks WR Deion Branch (knee) said his knee will never feel normal again after undergoing reconstructive surgery.
| Our view: 'You will never be back to normal once you have this type of procedure done. I actually feel stronger, but it's not normal. Something has been done that removed (parts) of my knee. My biggest thing is to continue to strengthen it,' Branch said. |

Seahawks | Branch said he should be ready for camp Thu Jun 11, 01:00 PM
Eric Williams, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports Seattle Seahawks WR Deion Branch (knee) said he should be 100 percent by the start of training camp.
| Our view: Branch was one of three Seahawks returning to action for the first time on a limited basis at the opening of Seattle's three-day, mandatory minicamp Wednesday. The other two were defensive lineman Cory Redding and cornerback Kelly Jennings. Branch will have to compete with talented rookie Deon Butler for the 3rd spot on the depth chart behind T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Nate Burleson. |

Seahawks | Branch practices Wednesday Wed Jun 10, 06:22 PM
Mike Sando, of ESPN.com, reports Seattle Seahawks WR Deion Branch (knee) participated in practice Wednesday, June 10.
| Our view: He said he has no pain in his surgically repaired knee, and he will have to beat out rookie WR Deon Butler for playing time. The Seahawks added T.J. Houshmandzadeh in free agency to be their #1 wide receiver, and Nate Burleson should line up opposite the former Bengal. Branch and Butler will compete for the starting slot position. |

Seahawks | Branch for Thomas Jones trade not likely Sun May 17, 03:29 PM
Seahawks beat writer Eric Williams doesn't believe Hawks general manager Tim Ruskell is willing to give up on Branch yet, particularly after the way Branch played at the end of last season. He also thinks Ruskell understands that things can go south quickly with a few injuries at receiver, and will keep Branch around because of his play-making ability and added depth because he doesn't want to go through what happened in 2008 again.
| Our view: Michael Lombardi from National Football Post had suggested a Branch-for-Thomas Jones trade so the disgruntled Jets RB could be reunited with his brother Julius and together they could bolster the Seahawks ground game. Never say never in the NFL, but at this time it seems unlikely that a deal like that will be done. |

Seahawks | Houshmandzadeh will be moved around Tue Apr 14, 10:12 AM
Eric Williams, of The News Tribune, reports Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Greg Knapp said during a local radio interview that when the team lines up in three-receiver sets WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh will not always line up in the slot. Knapp said he will focus on moving Houshmandzadeh, WR Nate Burleson and WR Deion Branch around so the Seahawks are less predictable in that formation.

Seahawks | Branch recently underwent surgery Tue Apr 7, 06:14 PM
Eric Williams, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports Seattle Seahawks head coach Jim Mora said WR Deion Branch (knee) recently underwent a cleanup surgery on his surgically repaired knee and there is no rush to get him back on the field.
| Our view: Other than T.J. Houshmandzadeh, the Seattle WR situation is up in the air. We'll see if Deion Branch can regain his effectiveness after another knee surgery. Ben Obomanu has been lining up with the first team in mini-camp, but Branch should regain his starting status when healthy. |
