Patriots | Tom Brady likely to play    Thu Aug 16, 10:51 AM

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (back) is expected to play deep into the first half of the second preseason game Thursday, Aug. 16.

Footballguys view: It's an interesting move, given we all know what Brady can do, and we all know how critical he is to the success of the team. Does this mean we won't see him much -- if at all -- in the third preseason game. Bill Belichick and the Patriots always zig when everyone else zags, so it's hard to know what to read into this, if anything. Brady is going off the board at 3 in many drafts right now, and you won't have to watch him in a preseason game to know he's worth the price tag.

Patriots | Tom Brady bothered by back    Fri Aug 10, 02:07 AM

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (back) did not play Thursday, Aug. 9, because of a sore back.

Footballguys view: Brady has played through injuries for a good part of his career. Unless we don't see him in the preseason, this is no reason to dim his outlook.

Patriots | Tom Brady plans to report early    Sat Jul 21, 01:41 PM

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady indicated that he plans to report to training camp early.

Footballguys view: Brady was never going to miss training camp, and even though he had some interesting comments about the Patriots coaching staff (mainly Bill Belichick) this offseason he showed up when the work was mandatory. He turns 41-years old in early August, yet Brady is still near the top of his game. Brady's current ADP is QB4 (6.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Patriots | Tom Brady discusses future    Sun Jun 17, 05:06 PM

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady acknowledged in an interview with Oprah Winfrey that aired on her network Sunday, June 17, he knows he is getting closer to retirement as he nears his 41st birthday in August, telling Winfrey he is 'seeing that there's definitely an end coming, sooner rather than later.' However, Brady also added he wants to play 'as long as I'm loving the training and preparation and willing to make the commitment.'

Footballguys view: The end is near for Brady, and fantasy owners don't know if he's going to play one more year or five more years. Currently, Brady is going off the board at QB4 (6.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Patriots | Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski skipping OTAs    Mon Jun 11, 01:08 PM

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady and TE Rob Gronkowski do not plan on participating in organized team activities this week after attending the mandatory minicamp last week, according to source.

Footballguys view: Gronkowski has been waiting to get a new contract, and reports indicate that is coming at some point in the future. Brady skipped voluntary work earlier this offseason, then he showed up for mandatory work, and now he's back to missing work when he doesn't have to be there. When things are mandatory (training camp), Brady and Gronkowski should be there.

Patriots | Tom Brady unsure about next week    Thu Jun 7, 03:18 PM

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady said he is not sure if he will participate in organized team activities next week.

Footballguys view: Brady isn't a guy we need to see in OTAs, and there aren't so many changes that he needs to get used to his guys. Brady is likely to be one of the top fantasy quarterbacks again this year, whether he is in a pair of shorts and t-shirt next week or not.

Patriots | Tom Brady in the house    Tue Jun 5, 10:21 AM

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady reported for minicamp Tuesday, June 5, according to sources.

Footballguys view: This was expected by those not fear mongering the Patriots offseason drama. Once the work became mandatory (as it is now), Brady was always going to show up.

Patriots | Tom Brady expected for minicamp    Wed May 23, 08:05 AM

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady is expected to be at minicamp, according to Patriots owner Robert Kraft. 'These are voluntary workouts... I think he's in great shape,' Kraft said. 'I think he's at an age where he's blessed to have three children and has responsibilities. It's hard to fulfill those during the season.' Kraft also said Brady's relationship with head coach Bill Belichick is good.

Footballguys view: Brady is no doubt taking care of himself as he skips voluntary OTAs. His relationship with Belichick is in question, but once the team starts winning all that will wash away.

Patriots | Tom Brady absent    Mon May 21, 08:46 AM

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady won't report to organized team activities Monday, May 21, but he's expected to report to mandatory camp in June.

Footballguys view: This absence has stirred up some drama around the superstar quarterback. He reportedly is going to spend more time with his family and his workout guru Alex Guerrero instead of showing up to OTAs. There are plenty of questions about his future, but when mandatory workouts begin we should see Brady in attendance.

Patriots | Tom Brady to play at least two years    Wed May 2, 09:17 AM

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady said he 'negotiated' with his wife to play two more seasons, and he's working on more.

Footballguys view: Brady wants to play into his mid-40s which would be another four years or so. It sounds like it's going to be two more seasons at least. Brady 'pleaded the fifth' when asked if he felt appreciated by the team. He then went on to say that even though Bill Belichick wasn't the easiest to get along with, he's the right coach for him. Drama aside, the Patriots should be in line to make another deep postseason run in 2018.

Patriots | Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski likely back in 2018    Sun Apr 22, 04:16 PM

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady and TE Rob Gronkowski are expected to return to the team in 2018 despite their absences from voluntary workouts this month, per a source with 'knowledge of the situation' according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.

Footballguys view: These workouts are voluntary, but this situation is ...interesting to say the least. With Brady and Gronkowski back in action, fantasy owners can expect them to play up to their QB1 and TE1 levels respectively.

Patriots | Tom Brady wants new deal    Wed Apr 18, 07:10 PM

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady would like a new contract before the start of the 2018 season but it is not a pressing issue at this point. Brady is still expected to play next season.

Footballguys view: Keep an eye on this situation. Brady is set to make $14 million each of the next two years and could easily ask for double that money based on his play. He's been underpaid for years and may want to see that rectified as his career winds down.

Patriots | Tom Brady not a lock for 2018    Wed Apr 18, 08:29 AM

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady still hasn't committed to playing in 2018, but people close to him believe he'll be back, according to sources. He wants to spend more time with his family, and there are people around him who would rather see him retire, sources said.

Footballguys view: The whole report makes this feel like a non-issue. The headline certainly draws attention and has some Patriots fans worried. We saw no worries here, but the negative buzz coming out of New England about how veterans may be tiring of Bill Belichick's way is interesting to say the least. Brady should play in 2018 and beyond, but fully expect the Patriots to select a quarterback with a premium pick in the 2018 NFL draft.

Patriots | Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski tie record    Tue Feb 6, 12:36 AM

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady and TE Rob Gronkowski have now connected for 12 touchdown passes in playoff games after Brady hooked up with Gronkowski twice in Super Bowl 52 against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Feb. 4. That ties them up with retired QB Joe Montana and WR Jerry Rice for the most touchdowns by a quarterback-receiver duo in NFL postseason history.

Footballguys view: With so many changes for the Patriots this offseason, one has to wonder if the duo of Brady/Gronkowski will play in the Super Bowl ever again. We've witnessed a dynasty that will be difficult to duplicate in today's NFL with the New England Patriots. They've been in or near a Super Bowl window for nearly 20 years, but that time may have come to a close.

Patriots | Tom Brady on wrong side of record books     Mon Feb 5, 03:18 PM

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady is the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for at least 500 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in a loss - regular season or postseason.

Footballguys view: The Patriots played a nearly flawless game but it wasn't enough to beat the Eagles in Super Bowl LII. Brady fumbled late in the game as the team was trying to make a game-winning comeback. That play was among the small difference makers in the contest.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady was named the 2017 Most Valuable Player by the Associated Press Saturday, Feb. 3. It was the third time he has received MVP honors, tying him for the second most in NFL history.

Footballguys view: Brady and the Patriots got off to a slow start in the season opener, but he was up to speed quickly and did it without Julian Edelman. There's no superlative too lofty for Brady at this point in his career.

Patriots | Tom Brady has fared well indoors    Thu Feb 1, 01:27 PM

Footballguys view: For what that's worth. Brady has posted a 5-2 record in Super Bowl appearances as well. Everyone has a plan - and stats - until they (or their team) gets punched in the face and they still have to play the game. It's not like you can be shocked Brady feels comfortable when there is no weather.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) said his hand is 'not quite where I want to be' as part of comments made Tuesday, Jan. 30. Brady continues to wear a glove on his throwing hand.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) was spotted wearing gloves on both hands during practice Friday, Jan. 26. He caught a pass and didn't appear to show any discomfort.

Patriots | Tom Brady getting stitches removed    Tue Jan 23, 02:02 AM

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) mentioned he was getting the 12 stitches on his hand removed in the coming days. 'And at that point, again, because I was fortunate not to tear any ligaments or anything like that - there was no broken bones - that was obviously the best news I could ever hear based on what you thought it could be,' he said. 'It ended up being a lot of good luck after, I'd say, a pretty unlucky injury. It turned out to be a lot good luck it wasn't more serious than it was.'

Footballguys view: Brady has two weeks to heal for Super Bowl LII. The team is off this week, but they begin practicing next week in Minneapolis.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady completed 26 of his 38 pass attempts for 290 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the AFC Championship Game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Jan. 21.

Footballguys view: Brady had a slow start, but put together a good drive at the end of the first half and two masterful drives in the fourth quarter to account for the win. He did it without Rob Gronkowski and against the #1 pass defense in the league. There's little question that he has cemented his legacy as the best postseason quarterback of all time.

Patriots | Tom Brady to start AFC title game    Sat Jan 20, 08:38 PM

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) will start the AFC Championship game Sunday, Jan. 21, against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Footballguys view: It sounds like Brady's hand injury was superficial and will likely be protected by a glove in the game. While he prefers to play without a glove, the Patriots passing game will likely focus on short, quick passing and he will probably be minimally affected by the injury.

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) threw the ball 'incredibly well' during practice Friday, Jan. 19, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

Footballguys view: Good news for the Patriots here. Everyone is watching Brady's practice report closely as these stitches in his throwing hand are a concern. Reports indicate that he will play against the Jaguars on Sunday in the AFC Championship Game. How well he plays will show how significant (or insignificant) this injury was.

Footballguys view: We aren't worried since the game is on Sunday. He should practice some between now and then, besides there is no way Brady doesn't play. As that's the case, which of the four quarterbacks are you trusting most? We put our trust in TB12.

Patriots | Tom Brady takes step forward    Thu Jan 18, 12:48 PM

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) returned to practice Thursday, Jan. 18, after injuring his hand in practice Wednesday, Jan. 17. The swelling in Brady's hand doesn't appear to have worsened as he was practicing instead of receiving treatment. The extent of Brady's practice participation was not disclosed.

Footballguys view: This is worth watching, and he has a brutal matchup. That said, the only way Brady doesn't play and find a way to perform is on a stretcher or in a casket. He'll put up points and while the production may not be what he normally does, who are you trusting over him? Nick Foles against a tough Minnesota defense? Blake Bortles? Case Keenum? It's not a great mathcup and the injury is a worry but he's the most reliable guy here.
