NFL | Sam Bradford hampered by knee injury Tue Nov 6, 03:20 AM
Updating a previous report, free-agent QB Sam Bradford (Cardinals) was unable to practice during the last five weeks of his tenure with the Arizona Cardinals because his left knee -- which has already been subject to two ACL repairs -- is basically 'bone on bone' with no cartilage.
Footballguys view: Bradford is free to sign with any team after clearing waivers. Teams will be hesitant to bring him in because of his long history of knee injuries. |

NFL | Sam Bradford officially a free agent Mon Nov 5, 05:35 PM
Free-agent QB Sam Bradford (Cardinals) cleared waivers Monday, Nov. 5, and is officially a free agent, according to a source.
Footballguys view: No surprise here. Bradford's immense salary and history of knee problems prevented anyone from putting a waiver claim in on him. He'll be hard pressed to find work in the league again this season and maybe even after that. |

Giants | Sam Bradford not of interest to Giants Sat Nov 3, 07:22 PM
Free-agent QB Sam Bradford (Cardinals) will not be pursued by the New York Giants following his release from the Arizona Cardinals, according to a source.
Footballguys view: The Giants are struggling on offense, largely due to the ineffective play of QB Eli Manning. With rookie Kyle Lauletta as his only primary backup, the Giants season seems like it won't get back on track. It's not like Bradford is the answer, but perhaps the team should think about all options...unless they are just playing out the rest of the season in hopes of getting the best possible draft pick. |

Cardinals | Arizona parts with Sam Bradford Sat Nov 3, 05:16 PM
Arizona Cardinals QB Sam Bradford was released Saturday, Nov. 3.
Footballguys view: It's amazing to think that Bradford signed a two-year, $40 million contract with the Cardinals back in March. The Cardinals ended up paying him roughly $13.5 million in salary and bonuses...all for three games of action. The Cardinals move forward with Josh Rosen continuing as their starter and Mike Glennon working as his primary backup. |

Arizona Cardinals QB Sam Bradford has been designated as the team's third quarterback, meaning he will not be active for Week 4's game versus the Seattle Seahawks, according to multiple sources. Cardinals | Sam Bradford benched in Week 3 loss Mon Sep 24, 02:43 AM
Arizona Cardinals QB Sam Bradford went 13-of-19 for 157 yards and two touchdowns in Week 3 versus the Chicago Bears, but he also threw two interceptions. He was replaced by rookie Josh Rosen for the final two drives after committing a fourth-quarter fumble.
Footballguys view: Three turnovers will get you benched, even though Bradford got off to a good start. Rosen came in and struggled, so the Cardinals are not committing to their starter for Week 4 just yet. We should have an announcement sometime soon. |

Cardinals | Arizona scales back offense Thu Sep 20, 11:31 AM
Arizona Cardinals QB Sam Bradford confirmed the team has scaled back the offensive game plan. 'I think the thought is just allow everyone to go out there and play faster, simplify everything a little bit and hopefully it shows up in the speed in which we play,' Bradford said.
Footballguys view: This sounds like a desperation move. The Cardinals offense only hope at this point is Josh Rosen and a new offensive coordinator. |

Cardinals | Playbook simplified for Sam Bradford Mon Sep 17, 08:07 PM
Arizona Cardinals QB Sam Bradford is averaging less than four yards per passing attempt, and in 37 completions he has thrown five passes of more than 10 yards.
Footballguys view: The team plans to scale back their playbook, although they would like to get more creative putting players in better position to succeed. One has to wonder when rookie first-round pick Josh Rosen is inserted as the starter for the Cardinals. |

Cardinals | Sam Bradford on track to start Sat Jul 28, 02:30 PM
Arizona Cardinals QB Sam Bradford is the clear favorite for the starting quarterback job, according to head coach Steve Wilks.
Footballguys view: It's not a surprise given Bradford's experience as a starter in the NFL. QBs Josh Rosen and Mike Glennon will be competing for the No. 2 quarterback job. We expect 2018 first-round pick Josh Rosen to take over at some point this season as he's the quarterback of the future. |

Cardinals | Rookie WR expects Sam Bradford to start Wed Jun 27, 09:47 PM
Arizona Cardinals WR Christian Kirk said he expects QB Sam Bradford to be the starting quarterback Week 1.
Footballguys view: That's likely the case for Bradford, and it ties into a potential plan for 2018 first-round pick QB Josh Rosen. If Bradford can stay healthy (he hasn't played a full 16-game season since 2012) and the Cardinals are winning, then Rosen could sit behind the veteran. If (when?) the team struggles, they'll eventually turn to Rosen since he is likely their franchise quarterback of the future. |

Cardinals | Sam Bradford rested and ready Sun Jun 17, 09:30 PM
Arizona Cardinals QB Sam Bradford (knee) saw more reps during team drills as minicamp progressed, and he said limiting his reps has helped him prepare physically and mentally. 'I can really build on what we had done here and coming to training camp ready to go,' Bradford said. 'I feel like we've done a great job of sticking to the plan,' Bradford said. 'I think the plan has worked and my body feels really good right now.'
Footballguys view: Bradford may be rested and ready, but the Cardinals are just waiting for rookie first-round pick QB Josh Rosen to be their starter. We could see Bradford beginning the 2018 season as the starter, then Rosen taking over if (when) the Cardinals are out of the playoff race...or when Bradford gets banged up. |

Cardinals | Sam Bradford likely to be Week 1 starter Fri Jun 15, 07:02 PM
Arizona Cardinals QB Sam Bradford likely will be the starting quarterback for the team's Week 1 game even though QB Josh Rosen performed well during offseason workouts, in the opinion of AZCardinals.com's Darren Urban.
Footballguys view: That's what most expect, but we haven't even got to training camp. Bradford is the seasoned vet who could begin the year as the starter but we all know Rosen is the quarterback of the future. Rosen is known as a quick study and should be properly challenged by Cardinals OC Mike McCoy. |

Cardinals | More practice for Sam Bradford Tue Jun 5, 05:28 PM
Arizona Cardinals QB Sam Bradford's (knee) practice repetitions are expected to increase in minicamp next week.
Footballguys view: Bradford could be the starter for the Cardinals in 2018...at least until rookie first-round pick Josh Rosen takes over. When that happens depends on the development of Rosen, and this is a battle to watch during training camp and the preseason. Bradford is on schedule in his rehabilitation, according to head coach Steve Wilks, and he likes how he feels physically and mentally. |

Cardinals | Sam Bradford still the starter Fri May 11, 10:25 PM
Arizona Cardinals QB Sam Bradford is the starting quarterback, head coach Steve Wilks said Friday, May 11, but Wilks added that he wouldn't hold back QB Josh Rosen.
Footballguys view: Wilks needs to add 'for now' to this statement. Bradford came to Arizona on a one-year deal to keep the seat warm for whatever quarterback the Cardinals selected in the 2018 NFL draft. That became Josh Rosen (UCLA) with the 10th overall pick, and Rosen is clearly the future. Don't expect Bradford to hang onto the starting job all season long...especially if/when he struggles. |

Cardinals | Sam Bradford remains QB1 for now Fri Apr 27, 01:43 AM
Arizona Cardinals QB Sam Bradford remains the team's projected Week 1 starter ahead of first-round pick QB Josh Rosen, according to head coach Steve Wilks, though he indicated that could change.
Footballguys view: We won't be shocked if Bradford remains the starter but let's all be clear -- the chances the oft-injured former first round pick stays healthy for the whole year is somewhere between slim and none, and slim is up in Sedona reconnecting with it's past self and some energy crystals. Rosen will see the field this year, and we are bullish on him. |

Cardinals | Sam Bradford not have problems with knee Thu Apr 19, 04:21 PM
Arizona Cardinals QB Sam Bradford (knee) is not having any problems with his knee and has been limited during offseason workouts because there is no reason to rush things in April, according to head coach Steve Wilks.
Footballguys view: He may not have issues now but it's just a matter of time given Bradford's injury history. We won't be leaning on him too hard in fantasy leagues this season. |

Cardinals | Sam Bradford to be limited in offseason Tue Apr 17, 10:05 PM
Arizona Cardinals QB Sam Bradford was limited in the team's first offseason minicamp practice Tuesday, April 17, and head coach Steve Wilks said afterward Bradford will continue to remain limited for the time being.
Footballguys view: Bradford has a one-year $20 million deal with the Cardinals and there's an option to pick him up for 2019 for the same price. The Cardinals will slow play Bradford leading up to the season so they can see if he can be near full strength by the time the regular season rolls around. |

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings impending free-agent QB Sam Bradford is expected to sign a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals worth $20 million, according to a source. The deal will include an option for 2019 worth $20 million.
Footballguys view: The Cardinals were desperate for quarterback help and it showed. Bradford steps into the starting job after the team was never in the running for Kirk Cousins (Vikings) and they missed out on Case Keenum (Broncos). Expect the Cardinals to land a quarterback in the 2018 NFL draft, likely with a premium pick. |

Minnesota Vikings impending free-agent QBs Sam Bradford and Case Keenum could be options for the Buffalo Bills during free-agency.
Footballguys view: With Tyrod Taylor traded away to the Browns, the Bills only have second-year pro Nate Peterman on the roster at the QB position. They'll be interested in properly-priced free agents and we expect them to select a quarterback in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft. |

Vikings | Sam Bradford intends to play Thu Feb 22, 05:52 PM
Minnesota Vikings impending free-agent QB Sam Bradford wants to play next season.
Footballguys view: The question is, where will the oft-injured quarterback get a job? He played well for the Vikings but his time there ended as many of his jobs have in the past - with him hurt. He could be a good bridge quarterback somewhere, if a team can hedge its bets a little against injury. |

Vikings | Mike Zimmer not sold on Case Keenum? Tue Jan 23, 03:19 PM
Minnesota Vikings impending free-agent QB Case Keenum's future with the Vikings is in limbo. Head coach Mike Zimmer said the Vikings will go through the process of determining who their starting quarterback will be next season. Keenum and fellow QBs Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Bradford are all in the running.
Footballguys view: Reports before the NFC Championship Game indicated the Vikings were going to franchise tag Keenum and also try to keep Bridgewater around. Now, after losing in that game, things don't seem as certain for Keenum...even Peter King is speculating that Keenum will be the Broncos starter in Week 1 of the 2018 season. Stay tuned, as Keenum would have a strong price tag if available in this quarterback desperate league. |

Footballguys view: The Vikings now have four quarterbacks on the active roster. Bradford joins starter Case Keenum and backups Teddy Bridgewater and Kyle Sloter on the 53-man roster. We haven't seen Bradford since he re-aggravated his knee injury in Week 5 against the Bears. We'll see if Bradford gets the nod as the primary backup behind Keenum while the Vikings are still in the playoffs. |

Footballguys view: The Vikings have a couple of weeks to decide whether or not to activate Bradford. Case Keenum has thrived as the starter and Teddy Bridgewater is his primary backup. The Vikings do have a third-string quarterback, Kyle Sloter, who could lose his roster spot to a healthy Bradford. |
