Texans | Booty signed Mon Jan 11, 05:54 PM
HoustonTexans.com reports the Houston Texans signed free-agent QB John David Booty (Titans) to a future contract Monday, Jan. 11.
Footballguys view: Originally a fifth-round pick by the Vikings, Booty found himself bounced when Brett Favre arrived in Minnesota. He could develop into a capable backup for the Texans. |

Vikings | Booty released from practice squad Wed Oct 14, 12:07 PM
Judd Zulgad, of The Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports the Minnesota Vikings have released QB John David Booty from their practice squad.
Footballguys view: Booty may find it difficult to catch on with another team because he was released earlier this year, and no one claimed him on the waiver wire. It's likely the Vikings will sign him back to the practice squad some time later in the year. |

Vikings | Eight signed to practice squad Sun Sep 6, 04:08 PM
Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports the Minnesota Vikings have re-signed free agents S Colt Anderson, QB John David Booty, OT Chris Clark, RB Ian Johnson, DT Tremaine Johnson, TE Garrett Mills, WR Nick Moore and OT Drew Radovich to their practice squad.
Footballguys view: Ian Johnson is an interesting RB to track in dynasty leagues because his prowess on special teams and versatility should allow him to catch on somewhere soon. Nick Moore is the little brother of New Orleans WR Lance Moore (even though he is four or five inches taller than Lance). |

Vikings | To showcase a quarterback for trade? Tue Aug 25, 01:25 PM
Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports the Minnesota Vikings could attempt to showcase QBs Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels in the team's next preseason game. The Vikings could use Jackson's strong performance in the team's last preseason game as a bargaining chip in an attempt to receive compensation for him. Whether the team decides to trade a quarterback could depend on how they feel QB John David Booty is progressing.
Footballguys view: Even with Jackson's strong performance, the most the Vikings would receive for him is likely a fourth-round pick. The team just traded for Sage Rosenfels and he plays a lot like Brett Favre (gunslinger, takes chances), so it would make sense if they kept him around as the primary backup. Teams that could be interested in Jackson include the Rams, and the Jaguars. |

Vikings | Rosenfels a sure bet to start? Mon Aug 3, 08:29 PM
Peter King, from SI.com, thinks Sage Rosenfels was the Minnesota starter before Tarvaris Jackson went down with a strained knee at practice the other day, and he's still going to be the starter now, obviously. And King wouldn't be surprised if John David Booty beat out Jackson for the backup job.
Footballguys view: If J.D. Booty can beat out Jackson for the backup job to Rosenfels, could the team be inclined to cut Jackson? The team traded for Rosenfels in the offseason, and the veteran has plenty of experience running an offense. Rosenfels is a fierce competitor that likes to take chances, and that's why we've given him the nickname "Captain Turnover." He'll be a fantasy backup in most leagues, but avoid him - especially if your league awards negative points for turnovers. |

Neither one of them is going to turn to me and say, 'Hey can you bring in someone else to take these?"

Vikings | Booty ahead of Rosenfels? Thu Jul 23, 04:47 PM
Ross Tucker, of Sports Illustrated, reports on his Twitter feed that his co-host Jim Miller "just said that his sources with the Vikings tell him that J.D. Booty is beating out Sage Rosenfels coming out of OTAs."
Footballguys view: If the latest chapter in the Favre saga hasn't scared you away from drafting Rosenfels, this should do the trick. |
